What exactly is the difference between the N64 Everdrive v2.5 and v3? Is the v3 really worth paying that much more?
>>3636405
A few weeb games don't work with older everdrives
>>3636425
Is there a compatibility list?

ED64 Plus (chinese clone) - $65 shipped, can find it from USA sellers on ebay. Cheapest option. Probably goes even cheaper on taobao etc. Downside is that it's a bit of a pain in the ass to get it working wrt getting all the necessary files. Chinese driver CD was only readable by one of my two computers (vol. label was in moon runes), had to format my SD card a couple different ways before I found one that worked (couldn't get gparted FAT16 or FAT32 to work, mac "FAT" format finally did the trick). The website "www.ED64Plus.com" is not reachable anymore and you can't use krikzz official firmware/OS since the newer ones implement clone detection. Once you finally get a working SD card it seems fine. Have to remember to press reset before turning off for cart saves to work properly. I just got one setup and working like 5 minutes ago, I can verify that it plays Mario 64 and Conker just fine, and saving works (provided you do the reset then off thing).
ED v2.5 - High quality. Software files easily available from krikzz website, don't have to worry about them trying to brick you if you get a legit cart. Have to remember to press reset before turning off if you want to save data.
ED v3.0 - High quality, don't need to press reset for save.
I bought my ED 3.0 back when they were around $180 shipped. I love it, I don't feel I got ripped off. Those prices look awesome though, is that just the 20% sale? Never losing a save on something like Zelda or Mario makes the additional money for the 3.0 worth it for me.
If you're a cheapskate you could try to hunt down the absolute cheapest ED64Plus you can find.
Are there any that you find interesting or simply decent? Mine is the Mega Duck.
Supposedly came out 4 years after the Game Boy, while it doesn't have the same quality games, the clone games aren't as bad as you might expect on other systems.
Yeah yeah nice edit.

Just a pic I found.
Is there anyone who has -or had a Super A'Can? How is it?
Din... With her strong flaming arms, cultivated the land and created the red earth.
Nayru... Poured out her wisdom onto the land, and gave it the spirit of law.
Farore... With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law.
The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens.
Is the Pandora even worth considering?
no

GPD Win is a better option these days, even if it is chinkshit. Plays a lot of stuff very well.
>>3635595
I forget, is the GDP Win x86 or ARM?
I've been looking for something to play Crimson Skies on the go with.
What games are worth playing on this thing?
>>3635543
Coca Cola Kid is the GOAT Game Gear game.
Also GG Shinobi 1&2.
Defenders of Oasis is pretty neat
So i bought a S-video cable for my N64, the cable is not like pic related, mine doesn't have a yellow composite, just the black one. However, the image improves a lot that it looks bad in my tv. I'm using a flat Sharp tv that looks amazing with retro games. I tried plugging my N64 to one of my HDTV's and while it looks good (i can see scan lines) it doesn't look like the 480i i was told i would see. So what's the best setup for an N64?
>>3635509
Very few N64 games run in 480i. The vast majority are 240p.
If your TV is shit, it might interpret that 240p signal as a 480i signal and try to deinterlace it, causing ugly artifacts and lag. You don't want that.
>i can see scan lines
There are HDTVs that do that out of the box?
>>3635509
>it doesn't look like the 480i i was told i would see.
Some N64 games are 480i, some are 240p, and some switch back and forth depending on the what portion of the game you're playing; Pokemon Stadium 2 is a good example of this; 480i for a lot of the menus, 240p for battles and the like.

Is it official S-Video or 3rd party?
anyway it looks much better on a CRT, better get hunting or otherwise everything will look bad
>discuss about rare games here
>zx spectrum everywhere
>super nintendo and nintendo 64 nowhere
Why /vr/ is so hipster?
>>3635273
Nintendo has no games
>>3635274
What?
By posting this shitpost thread, you pushed an actual retro game discussion thread to the archive. Thanks, jackass.
Return of Double Dragon or Streets of Rage 2
Which is better?
Battletoads
>>3635048
>Battletoads
More like Battleturds.
Final Fight (arcade).
Specifically want to play some old RPGs like FF7, 8, 9, Tactics, Valkyrie Profile and such.
I use psx 1.13 but there may be better ones out there
Use google, shithead.
Used google. It gave me this thread instead.
Picked this baby up for 5 dollars at my local game store.
I've seen it sit on the shelf for like 3 months so I finally got it.
Played two levels and turned it right the fuck off.
>>3634846
I did the same with Pac Man World 1
>>3634849
>Pac Man World
>A decent game
>Mort the Chicken
>One of the worst games ever made, probably one of the top 5 worst on PS1
>>3634849
Really? I had a lot of fun with that one.
Can anyone please help me figure out where this music is from? It would really help me out!

All I know is the developer is Capcom.
No cheating, jackass
>>3634748
What are you talking about?
>>3634745
It sounds RPGish but I can't remember it in any Breath of Fire
Why is it so much better than Douk and Shadow Warrior?
>>3634739
2bh it's not. I like it more too but that's just personal preference. Imho the three games are literally tied and anyone could prefer another one for different reasons.
But fuck my ass bloods weapons feel too fucking satisfying.
>>3634739
It's not but it's my favorite.
It's better in several ways like enemy/weapon balance, weapon use, some enemies AI like the cultists, etc
But DN3D and SW also have their strengths, in other aspects. I don't think people realize how good and innovative DN3D's level design really was. I know Blood's development started long before Duke was released, but when it did come out, they had time to learn from it still for their own game.
>BT latency
>N64 emulation still sucks
>Horrible awkward layout that nobody misses
What is the point of this thing? And why are 8bitdo charging $50 for it?
>N64 emulation still sucks
fucking Project64 with stock plugins does the job well, and this is the most casual N64 you can find. get fucking good you pleb
>spending money on emulation
Just get a real N64 and an everdrive.
>>3634725
Project64 isn't emulation, that's just reading the rom files, calling up a few api's, and guessing how the game runs. At no point does it actually emulate the N64 architecture, and it's riddled with accuracy errors as a result. Not forgetting the creator recently stuffed fucking malware into the last update.
Post news coverage/stories that relates to old vidya shit.

Holy crap, they were upset the SNES cost more then NES.
Do any of you faggots remember this gem? It's underrated as fuck.
>>3634681
Yes, I played quite a bit before giving up due to not knowing how to advance. It has serious charm.
>>3634681
had a friend who loaned me his copy. great little fighting game. Think Custom Robo but the action is more street fighter II
Great underrated gem. Played a bunch but never beat it
