>Haven't had a good FF9 thread in a while
My FF9 disk 1 stopped working a while ago and would freeze when I tried to enter Lindblum for the first time. I tried it again on a whim a few days ago expecting the same instead I heard the most beautiful sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynbUHMxYAyI
I talked to Cid again, did some synthesizing, got my Kupo Nut and played some cards with the freak. It now Freezes when I try and talk to Garnet at the castle.
I just want to play Chocobo hot'n'cold again
Miyamoto was right about this one.
thank god, a shitpost containment thread
reminder that the whole "shiggy shits on DKC" is a hoax invented by a western journalist and nobody will ever be able to get a real source because the original interview wasn't recorded and there isn't any literal japanese transcription of it either.
>>3645692
I hope this is the case because DKC plays like every Mario game Shiggy so proudly endorses.
This game was so good to play vs other player, anyone remember it?
>>3645646
Its just a fucking ripoff of Joust jfc stop making the same thread every day
Fucking Baloonautist
Are you asking if people on a retro games board rememebr fuckin' Balloon Fight?
C'mon m8
Good game though
>>3645652
>ripoff
HAL actually developed the licensed port of Joust for the Famicom, they tweaked the physics and made Balloon Fight, which included an all-new game Balloon Trip. It's more than just a Joust clone.
The more you know.
Is anyone else getting to an age where your hands physically have trouble playing older action-type games that require twitch responses? Many games that I used to dominate as a child are seemingly fucking impossible for me now.
It's sad to think I'm relegated to just playing turn based rpgs/strategy games, or god forbid some modern, zero skill "cinematic experience" schlock.
What are you 80
>>3644949
I'm 36 and much better at fast paced action games now, than I was when I was younger.

I'm 42 with mild arthritis from factory work.

I keep hearing about how the retro bubble is bursting but pricecharting isn't reflecting it. What's going on here?
>>3644563
That chart is bald-faced lies.
>>3644567
See for yourself.

>>3644563
I predict that the retro bubble will burst in about 60 years when 80s kids are most all dead. Possibly before that, depending on what the actual data retention length of these ROM chips used in cartridges turns out to be. A modern ROM only has a predicted data retention of ~200 years, and I'm sure NES ROMs were way less than that...
How good are you at Puzzle Games
I'm 10 rounds away from a Puzzle Bobble 1cc.
how good are you at sucking my dick

haha great reply my man fucking got him

He has more money than me.

Al right /v/, time to settle this once and for all.

>Borders that can change mid-game
>Using the SNES' audio for SFX or music
>Using different 4 color palletes for different parts of the screen.
>Changing color scheme depending on what area of the game you're in
>Adding 2 player modes (that don't require second screen)
>Putting an entire (though very small) SNES came on a GB cart
>Very few GB games did even one of these things.
Is this the biggest waste of potential in vidya?
>>3644270
I like it. I like thegamecube's playerbetter though.
>>3644270
probably so for lowest price point/highest potential for retro games but Nintendo is basically built around failed potential
Speaking of the super gameboy; if I'm going to get one should I get the original, or import the SGB2 from japland for the ability to use the link cable?

I've always been confused on something, is PS1 Air Combat the same as arcade Air Combat?
Also what do you guys think of this game? I just beat it and while it's certainly not as refined as later games it's still pretty fun. Shame it gets so overlooked in Ace Combat discussions.
>>3644147
there is something that air combat had that most of the others didnt have with its vintage cheesiness. Ace Combat 2 does it pretty well too but when there isnt a flying aircraft carrier at the end it isnt the same.
It gets overlooked the same way Tekken 1 gets overlooked, because the sequels are more refined and easier on the eyes.
Dat weird splitscreen confined to a canyon duel mode.
What are your thoughts on retro game "reviewers" using emulators? Do you think it skews there perspective or affects their gameplay "performance?"Just curious because I'm a poorfag who wants to make some youtube videos
>>3644119
Unless it changes the experience to an extreme extent nobody will care.
>>3644119
It's obviously a million times more practical to use an emulator to make footage of gameplay in specific areas of a game etc. Everyone knows that at least the fullscreen footage is 99% emulated, and it's ok. Real hardware is good for wider shots where the hardware itself is visible.
Oh boy, this'll be a shitstorm. Anyway, I don't think it really makes much of a difference. Just make sure you're using accurate emulators. Having a controller or hooking up your system can help make the difference less distinct from the real thing if you are worried about bias. The great thing about emulators for game reviews is how easy capturing is. To get the same video quality on the real thing you'd need to spend hundreds of dollars.
Anon, what's your opinion on reproduction carts?
Are you an original cart fascist or you accept reproductions?
Which is the best place to buy repros?
>>3643779
Reproduction carts are only worth it for translations or otherwise unavailable cartridge games.
If you are going to buy a reproduction of Earthbound, you may as well just emulate or throw your money out the window.
>>3643779
How much autism do you require to be able to tell a fake from a legit cart?
>>3643779
>side-by-side comparison of a bootleg to a "real" cart
>doesn't have any indicators showcasing how to tell them apart
yeah okay
