My friend recommended it, so I tried emulating it with a keyboard and got frustrated. I've since bought a controller, is it worth trying again? What's like, I forget.

I am looking for a game suggestion between the NES and PS1 era. I grew up during this era but I was poor and missed out on a lot of good games.

I just finished Chrono Trigger for the first time and thought it was very good. I tried starting Secret of Evermore and Secret of Mana but they just weren't clicking for me.

Games I like but have played thoroughly:
Mega Man X
Link to the Past
Final Fantasy VI
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario World
Mario 1-3
Final Fantasy I

I am mostly into RPGs but I enjoy other genres too. I might replay FF1. If I do, which version should I play? Original?

How hard is DKC2? Recently I played through the first game and thought it was great. I had a hard time beating the last two worlds though and backtracked a lot to save in previous worlds or farm for lives. Otherwise I wouldn't have beaten it. Platform Perils alone took me about 50 tries.

How does the second part fare difficulty wise? Does it also have spots to farm and go back to another world to save?

You might as well quit if thats what it took for you to beat DKC1. It only gets harder in 2 and exponentially more so in 3.

Animal antics is a complete nightmare
>>
It's not too hard. After playing DKC1 a couple of times through I breezed through it.

The level design isn't a scratch on DKC1 though. Any difficulty people talk about comes from the gimmicks in it.

How good is 3d blast?
I've stayed away from it since people throw around that it SUXXXX
but i already beat sonic 1-3&K and now I need more SONIC

>more SONIC
3D Blast is poor as a Sonic game, but decent on its own. It mostly eschews the platforming, but it's a good isometric action/adventure. The speed feels kinda redundant in it though: the screen is too small to see where you're rushing. And Sonic's control is more like billiards than pinball.

Overall, it feels as a different game packaged as Sonic. But a good game nonetheless. Just don't expect anything like previous games.
>>
>>3647367
It's okay, I enjoyed it as a kid. The Saturn port is superior to the megadrive version if you want to take a chance with uoYabause.

So I managed to get myself a Dreamcast and burned myself a copy of this. I'm only one dungeon in and so far I like it despite it being extremely easy.

Right now the combat seems very reliant on which gem you've got slotted on your weapon, is that going to continue to be the trend or will I want to make certain characters specialize in certain elements?

Also holy shit, ship combat is fucking awesome. Please tell me there's a lot of that in this game.

>>3647353
There is a ton of ship combat, but it's not very well balanced in my opinion. Also, the burnt version uses a custom decompression system to fit the game on the disk,so the load times are kind of shit and the audio is more compressed.
>>
>>3647357
>the burnt version uses a custom decompression system to fit the game on the disk,so the load times are kind of shit and the audio is more compressed.
These are things I can deal with, and if it gets egregious I can always just emulate the remaster

>it's not well-balanced
In which direction? I've only been in one ship battle, and IIRC from the demo I played a long long time ago you get a harpoon cannon that I didn't have yet. I guess that thing makes battles too easy?
>>
>>3647353
I never really paid much attention to what weapon color I was using. I just swapped them to which ever needed the least amount of experience to earn a new skill level for a character. Also, random battles become trivial once you can cast Lambda Burst/Omega Psyclone at the start of battle.

The way I see it, this analogy is the perfect summation of fifth gen:

Nintendo 64 is like gourmet food. Sure it might be expensive, and it might not be in large quantities, but its a worthwhile investment to high caliber ratio, and its an even better choice for fancy get-togethers or dates.

PlayStation, on the other hand, is a lot like fast food. There's a lot of it everywhere, you can find it in any corner, it may try some interesting new stuff once in a blue moon as a gimmick, but for the most part you know what you're getting. You also wouldn't have a business dinner with fast food, maybe just 1 friend. Ultimately however, its not healthy for you.

The glorious 5 inch screen. Surely not a terrible idea if you're a midget or small child.

I feel you. While its always better playing on the original console, I play A LOT of retro on my 3DS. Probably the small screen that makes it more aesthetically pleasing

How to start a super nintendo collection without raping the wallet?
32 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Don't.
>>
Lots of options. You could:

- play nothing but shitty games no one wants.
- download an emulator and ROMs.
- get a Wii and buy/pirate Virtual Console games.
- buy an SD2SNES.
- learn Japanese and import.
- inherit them from a relative.
- rob a bank, then buy them on eBay.
>>
Look for people selling games by lot. You're going to get ripped off trying to build a Nintendo collection anyway because of the label.
