Someone suggested I make a thread about custom levels when I posted my Jetpack level pack. The Mods thread seems to have a different focus, so here goes.

What games have you been making custom levels for which you'd like to showcase? Have you been playing other people's custom levels which you'd like to share? Or are there any games with level editors that you'd like to make us aware of?

Here's my Jetpack level pack: https://u.teknik.io/rryCp2.zip . To install, place it in your LEVELS folder.

For those who don't know Jetpack: it's one of the classic DOS platformer games and takes inspiration from Loderunner, Jumpman, and Montezuma's Revenge. The game comes with 100 levels which are enjoyable unto themselves, but what makes it really stand out is the powerful, built-in level editor. There are over 1000 levels available on the Internet.

Download the game at the official website: http://www.adeptsoftware.com/jetpack/

A quick video that demonstrates the gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Honzfhe4EQ

I've been seeing this game pop up in different articles and media lately, why is that? Is there something in the zeitgeist that warrants a resurgence of a 20 year old point and click?

Probably because Nightdive re-released it in 2013 so now more people have access to it.

You enjoy ridiculously unrealistic proportions in not only living things but inanimate objects as well? Rare created some of the most unrealistic universes in the videogame industry.

Just look at how Banjo's hand grips the steering wheel. It is so big it HANGS over the front of the bonnet. It appears like he doesn't even have full 360° of turn radius at his disposal. He would continuously have to turn hand over hand which would no doubt decrease his reaction times to turns and objects. Fucking preposterous!

Have fun trying to decide which way you want to go at the fork in the track after the cave in Ever frost Peak with a pair of mitts like that!

Despite his super difficulty, gone through his horrible designs and wrecked with a poor engine and a crappy design. I think is one of the Worst Mega Drive Games of All Time.

Yeah, it's complete shit. I remember buying it and returning it the very same day after playing it for 30 minutes or so.

It was made by one of Sega's western studios, not the same people from Sega of Japan who made the Illusion games and Quackshot.

Such a shame too because a game based on Fantasia could have been great if it was done by the right devs, but it ended up being really awful.
Not sure if one of the worst MD titles, but probably the worst Sega published one.
>>
>>3641930
Funny how this game had such good looking foreground objects, but the rest of the scenery looks really low quality.
>>
>>3641940
>It was made by one of Sega's western studios
it was made by infogrammes, dev well known for pretty-but-shitty licensed games.

Apparently, game was presented to sega execs, was judged shitty but was still approved anyway because big license and chrismas season...

what a fucking travesty.
glad i didn't pay full, price. but still.
this game is literally unplayable. and this is the first time i've ever used that term. and of course i mean it.
i only played the first game but christ is this input lag the most damning thing sullying some of the best video game experiences one can have.
don't spend money on this garbage. please. this is for yourself.
and here i was thinking i could get a good couch co-op game on my ps4.
i wouldn't be so upset if the games were shitty. but they're not. it's fucking metal slug. how do you fuck that up? it has to be hard to fuck up fucking metal slug doesn't it?
turns out it's not! holy shit i'm bitter right now. i'm sorry, i needed to vent a sec.
what the godawful fuck.
i don't remember the standalone version of metal slug 3 (ps4) being this bad.
maybe it's better for the other games.
has anyone else played this on ps4? opinions? am i overreacting? i don't think i am honestly; as i said, LITERALLY unplayable. but i want to know what anyone else thinks.

I need to get this off my chest, I'm pretty sick of these fucking things. They never work. I've tried boiling pins, buying new ones, they never work as intended. At best you'll get one game to work and the next one you put in, grey screen. blue screen, pink screen, nothing. You tilt the cartridge to the right, to the left, you get a jumbled mess of data. The wings of a butterfly flap so perfectly on the opposite side of the world, the planets align, the game magically finally fucking works until the next time you start it up. Stupidest design ever. I've ordered new pins, and they only work when the cartridge isn't depressed? The fuck? Some games work when the cartridge is depressed? This is stupid.

I can deal with disabling the lockout chip. I can't figure out why the lockout chip would be going off despite a legit cartridge being inserted. The hell is wrong with this thing?

Is there any way to get these pieces of shit working reliably? Like at least 75% of the time? No fucking around constantly, cleaning, re-cleaning, brassoing the fuck out of it?

I spend a lot of time fixing these things and I still get returns. I just want to know if there's a way to get them running reliably.

nice of them to use microswitches

why does this guy seem so angry about what's probably just a manufacturing issue of some kind? I guess making a video like this could put pressure on the company to do something about it, but overall this looks like a pretty cool kit, and probably just had a manufacturing problem or something. I mean, I get being upset that something you bought doesn't work, but his reaction seems over the top, almost as if it was only done to get attention.

I'm about to quit playing ffvi brave new world. I'm on mt kolts and the trillium somehow manage to poison or kill my entire party every time i encounter them. It's not that the game is harder, it's just gone in a direction that a non autist like myself can't really enjoy.
