WHAT THE FUCK
I LITERALLY BROKE MY CONTROLLER
WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING
Playing real games makes babies out of men.
How.
Start from 1-1 when you die. Always.
>>3646282
Why is that?
I'm trying to hook up my old XP comp from 2001 with a 5.25 floppy drive to test out some old games. However, after futzing around I have found that this motherboard has a 40 pin connector for 3.5 floppies and the ribbon cable I have for the 5.25 is a 34 pin connector. Is there anyway to make this work?
The bios does have settings for a 5.25 drive to be setup btw.
>>3646329
Fuck back off to your home board.
>>3646265
I would think finding the device drivers for a 3 inch floppy dick drive for WinXP would be the bigger challenge, unless you're dual booting to native DOS/actual retro OS.
>>3646265
You're trying to use the PATA connector.
A 2001 vintage PC is more likely than not going to have a 3.5" diskette drive installed. Just plug your floppy drive into that cable instead.
Pic obviously unrelated.
John Connor plays on this jet arcade machine in T2. I always wanted to play that bastard, it looked so fucking rad. Still wanna play it, actually. Never did sadly.

>>3646225
Sadly, Galloping Ghosts only has After Burner 2
>>3646225
They had this at my local arcade, but not this one where the whole damn thing moves. I can't imagine doing maintenance on this beast. I bet it was the kind of thing that was down 90% of the time.
>>3646230
Finding one now in working condition that you can go and actually play is basically impossible.
How come more games didn't do stuff like the Zelda 1's second quest?
Just making an ultra hard remix of a game would be an easy way to double the content in a game.
>>3646214
So like the idea of second loop for other genres?
>>3646235
Sure, why not?
>>3646280
There's nothing wrong with it, they do exist here and there. Second loops and third loops in shmup games and Nightmare & Hell difficulties in Diablo games.
Can we all agree Dracula has good taste in women?
meh
>can we all agree
no
>>3646185
If that was a boy... My dick would be rock solid.
Can we talk about the bizarre strict censorship policies that Nintendo of America enforced from 1985 to 1994?
So many games were censored, most of them stupid, stupid censors.
They were just covering their asses. They knew westerners were crazy people who got offended for weird things such as religions and sex, so they edited it out.
Most of these censorships weren't even ordered by NoA, the japanese companies themselves (in this case, Konami) would alter some sprites on the western versions of the games to avoid any problem later.
>>3646159
What was the point if they weren't going to actually censor the cross?
>"Clinics" in Final Fantasy
This one doesn't fit the timeframe, but
>"Crazy" Wario, which for some reason became the norm in Wario Land 3
>>3646159
Don't they still engage in censorship?
Was recently playing through pic related and the game's arsenal is comprised of mostly non-lethal weapons. Got me thinking, what other retro games use non-lethal or weird/uncommon weapons? Feel free to talk about Jurassic Park games too but keep it on-topic please.
>>3645430
I have played through JP and RE for Genesis dozens and dozens of times each, but only ever once with Grant. My version of the game doesn't have non-lethal attacks.
>>3645448
>My version of the game doesn't have non-lethal attacks.
Do you have some kind of hacked pirate copy or something? All the weapons just put the dinos to sleep. It's a neat touch and jives with the movie, I can't see Grant mowing down all the park's residents with a machine gun or something.
Now Trespasser it's open season (pun intended) on all fucking reptiles.
>>3645491
>Do you have some kind of hacked pirate copy or something?
I was saying that because I always play with the raptor....

Is there any game more chill than Outrun?

Anyone else who have a soft spot for the early days of the PS1/SAT
Im mostly talking about games released between 1995 and 1996
Games like the first Tomb Raider, first Resident Evil and more
>>3645082
I feel the opposite. Was a sad day when shitty blocky 3D overtook beautiful sprite work.
yes, reaching a cutscene felt rewarding back then
>>3645082
yea OP, old low poly stuff feels super comfy for some reason. Maybe it's just because it hearkens back to a more carefree time.
Was 90s VR more of a technical marvel than modern VR?
Seems like Virtuality and Virtual Boy were more impressive than companies just copying each other trying VR now.
90s VR Arcade system Virtuality. Running first on Amiga or and moving to Intel based systems in it's second and final version.
No. No it wasn't - not the software and environments. The interfaces were cool though. I haven't seen anyone using a modern Oculus type visor walking around on one of those giant trackballs.
>>3644873
There's literally nothing to compare since the technology is still in its infancy. There's still room for improvement.

Your thoughts on the Jagger and Lions series?
>>3644726
>Jagger and Lions
Dont know what that means, but JA2 is one of the best games of my life.
>>3644726
loaded it onto my x220 so I can play it on holiday
>>3644726
It was fun before I started memorizing AI spawn points and waypoints and could clean maps by shooting certain empty spots behind the trees. Also I always tend to get dragged into logistics, getting 100% repaired staff for entire squad, different ammo loadouts, stimulants etc.
Dungeon keeper 1 thread.
What is your favorite strategy in DK1 sphere it.
Mine is sacrificing imps in he temple so their price drops to 150 gold and I can span cheap imps.
L1 imps are the good enough and training them is a pointless waste of time since they get killed by running into enemies like idiots.
>>3644624
I like to build a narrow hallway and fill it with all sorts of nasty traps, then knock out the far wall and let the heroes try to make it through my gauntlet of death only to run into the biggest and strongest monsters I can summon at the end of it.
>>3644635
Anny gameplay screan shots/videos of this ?
>>3644624
>they get killed
not if they have teleport
>>3643983
Deathrally.

I registered Halloween Harry, but never got any updates. I really like its music, and the original release did include a dedicated music player exe.
Raptor was okay, but I liked other shooting games more at that time. Even on the PC, everyone knew about Tyrian. However Raptor did have Wing COmmander-like cinematics which I thought were nice.
Blake Stone added ceilings and floor textures to the Wolf3D engine which is pretty cool. Yet, I'll just give Apogee credit for pointing me to call id directly as they will not publish the upcoming Doom (the few beta images were enough to convince me) as they did for Wolfenstein 3D.
Sorry, I threw away my Halloween Harry discs as they did not mail me a sweet box like Doom did. I think I saw a retail box for the game under a different name though in those bargain shelves of <discontinued department store>, K-mart, and Walmart. So, posting old not-Apogee pic instead.
>>3643983
To be honest, my biggest thrill is just to reminisce by listening to their intro music.

Pic related. Never released in the USA.
All the Sega Channel games, because I didn't buy the add-on.
>>3643919
Final Fantasy V, also not released in America.
>>3643919
Probably one of the best SNES games ever and one of the greatest action RPGs ever made.
It never gets talked about though because Ameritards never got to play it, so it doesn't trigger 'muh nostalgia' the same way something like Chrono Trigger does.
Prove you're an oldfag, let's talk retro magazines.
I actually had a letter printed in the Mean Yob section.
>>3643905
>tfw reading about Rondo of Blood in this issue and being mad I'll never get to play it
Thank god emulation and Dracula X Chronicles came out to prove me wrong.
>>3643905
Does this count? My fav magazine series.
I subbed to PSM for years. Looking back it was kind of a rag but it was fun
