Was he the first African American in video games to be featured as a main character?
>>3707254
Never played Streets of Rage, eh?
Then again if you mean a core single protagonist...
As a third point, Raiden is more African American than most black people because he's originally Liberian.
How does the PS3 port of this stack up? I'm not talking about the HD thing, but the PS3 mini.
On the PSP is kind of garbage because the controls are literally stuck on left-handed mode and I don't see any way to crouch or control the zoom of the binoculars, is this different on the PS3 or is that version also casualized?
>>3707147
Pretty good but that is to be expected with the low poly count
>>3707295
Well, I was sort of expecting it to not run badly all things considered, but I was wondering if the PS3 version has the game mechanics intact unlike the PSP port.
>>3707684
Pretty sure it was the same, it just uses the hardware of the PS3 which makes it render better
How many of you have made your own repro games?
I just bought a chip burner, chips, and a famicom ff3 last night. Going to give it a shot, mostly for fun but I also want to play nes ff3 in English, do a fan translation of bof2, and maybe do a couple games for friends.
Yeah, I own a flashcart...
What are some games you've made? Success and horror stories?
>>3707117
Yea I have.
I've toyed around with the idea of making an entire NES and SNES set out of repros just to say I did but after costing it out, and the labor required to make them I gave up.
>horror stories
I fucked up a donor board while making FF5 for SNES. This is when I was really new to soldering and I torched the damn thing.
>but I also want to play nes ff3 in English, do a fan translation of bof2,
Why? And why would you ruin a Famicom game for that?
>>3707126
I'm not cutting traces. It's still the original game. Will be played instead of sitting UNplayed by collectard
This game sucks. Do people only like it because it not being released outside Japan automatically makes it a 10/10 "hidden gem" classic?
Pretty much. It is a terrible game. All JRPGs are.
>>3706724
More likely due to the fact that it's the sequel to SoM, a fairly popular square game. It also has the "muh grafix" factor as well as multiple converging stories blah blah blah...
>>3706728
i played SD3 first and could never get into SoM because it wasnt as fun personally
Hardest retro games?
>>3705794
See it posted rarely here
>>3705794
If it lasts this thread will undoubtedly be filled with nes or arcade titles, so I will post something from the 4th Gen.
>>3706028
4th gen certainly has a bunch of hard games, to be honest many games of the 3rd gen that are hard - half of the time they only feels hard for the wrong reasons, like overlooked sections by the developers, defective AI, defective physics, etc.
Also, since you posted Mr. Nutz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nLtMX4Y8XI
The soundtrack of this game is pretty nice, you can see that the composer had a lot of fun with it.

So why is Mario Party 2 the greatest Mario Party of all time?
Your sentence makes me believe you come from /v/.
Heresy.
First is the best. It's just so brutal to its players in so many ways.
Because Mario wears a cowboy hat on the box art, obviously.
I enjoy horror games, specifically older ones.
but I'm looking to build a collection of as many horror games as I can for older systems, but the only system I can recognize horror games on is the PS1
what horror games can I expect on systems such as, say, the dreamcast, saturn, and N64?
or I suppose general old horror game appreciation thread.
>>3704045
Resident evil GameCube
Saturn deep fear
N64 hahahhahaha shadowman
Those should get u started
enemy zero for the saturn is really underrated
I have a feeling if it had been released on the playstation it would've been revolutionary, maybe even more than resident evil (it came out the same year as well)
>>3704045
the horror games I DO own for older consoles are as follows:
Dino Crisis 1+ version with RE3 demo
Dino Crisis 2
RE1 director's cut
RE2
RE3 on PC and PS1+ps1 version with dino crisis demo
RE survivor
galerians
overblood
I guess technically castlevania symphony of the night
and martian gothic: unification
>>3704052
I've got the REmake, plus 0, CVX, and 3 for gamecube
and I'd probably need a euro saturn for deep fear since it's PAL/JP only unless I can do something to get around that
Where i can buy an Snes CD?
in Universe 6.
Somebody should really produce one of those cases you can put like a PS2 in.
Outside of the pokeyman and Tertis, isn't this the most underrated /vr/ console?
>>3703187
Whoa there famalam this thread is too dark
I have Pokemon Crystal, Wario Land 3, and Super Mario Deluxe. Are there any more GBC games worth getting?
>>3703343
You can add color to any game boy game by holding certain combinations of buttons when you turn it on. Plus the games that are compatible with the super game boy automatically get a little color.
No need to limit yourself to the gbc library. There are plenty more games worth getting.
Hey guise, what are some good top-down perspective 2d games that play as fluidly as zelda?
I've tried neutopia, golden axe warrior and crusader of centy, but they're all clunky and don't feel good to control. Ys could be good if the dungeons were better designed, and less repetitive.
>>3703105
Crystalis
Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Terranigma, Beyond Oasis/Story of Thor, Alundra
>>3703105
>Crusader of Centy
>clunky
It's been a few years but I honestly remember that game being smoother than ALttP. I think there might be something wrong with your control setup. Are you emulating on a phone?
What do you think of this game, /vr/?
>>3702237
I enjoy the standard Zelda formula games more but I still consider it a good game.
>>3702237
Rough around the edges, but a daring and unique blend of RPG, platformer and a fighting game. Would be even better if it wasn't so repetitive and grindy—or maybe I was playing it wrong.
It's a good game. Although the way to the final dungeon took me way too many attempts to final beat it. I really enjoyed my time with the game.
In this thread we talk about the best controller ever devised by man, and why that controller is the Sega 6 button.
This Michaelangelo shits on every controller that came before, and every controller since.
>>3701850
But it made so much more sense
>>3701850
I prefer 3 button controller.
>>3701863
OP is stupid. 3 is better unless you want to play terrible ports of fighting games.
Is it just me or is this a shockingly good looking game for both PS1 and N64?
it looks pretty nice for a really straight forward looking, clean game. I've found 3D games of the 5th generation look their best when they use a lot of effects, clever rotation or warping sprites/special effects as central elements to their visuals. Something like the water in panzer dragoon and panzer dragoon saga's ruins of uru really stand out.
That said, clean visuals like that are also pleasant to the eye. There is that late PS1 Aliens game that looks very nice. PS1 had a lot of detailed geometry and a lot of games with the sharp low resolution textures look really nice.
>>3701086
that hand weirds me out
>>3701086
It looks alright, certainly more refined than earlier PS titles. But I guess this screenshot was taken from an emulator with some smoothing. Anyway, if you look closely, you can see the low res textures; it's more apparent with more contrast. The lack of shadow and simplistic Gouraud-like lighting is obvious too.
I think that 99 Credits/Free-Play is boring because there's no tension in clearing the game, in the other side just 1 Credit is absurdly hard depending of the game.
What you do?
infinite credits to start and practice but the game isn't truly beaten until it's 1CC.
How I sees it:
1 credit - Hard
3 credits - Normal
5 credits - Easy
I pick Normal on 95% of the time in non-arcade games, thus I mostly limit myself to 3 credits
>>3699813
I try to be realistic about it. I treat it like I have $5-10 in quarters per session, so usually about 2-4 credits a game, other than the Simpsons Arcade game. I put $15 worth of credits into that.
