Reminder that the best GBA flash card sticks out of your Micro like a fucking tumor.
>>3711629
Not retro.
Nobody in their right mind would play on the micro anyway, it's a collector's item at best
>>3711640
Wow look how wrong you are.
How do you beat this fuck?
Run and buff faget

Yelling. Lots of yelling.
>>3711573
Yelling jumping auto-potioning etc.
I'm looking to compile a full arcade on an ouya. I'm using MAME4DROID and neo.emu. however these two apps are proving difficult to find working romsets for. Any advice?
Find out what revision it requires and get it lol.
I actually have the correct romset for the blue icon mame4droid hosted somewhere if I can remember it.
I'm still really new to this..
I'm looking for 0.139u1 for Mame
and i currently have no idea what I need for the neo.emu because the current neorage romset I'm using is really hit and miss :/
Okay yeah I found it. Again, this works with the BLUE version and I haven't checked it for years so that's assuming it uses the same build as ever
ge (dot) tt (slash) 4rBokMV
There's also some english translated NES and SNES romsets in there
Do any of the older western PC RPGs have a story on par with Final Fantasy Tactics?
I don't think many western games with good stories are RPGs

Are they all just dungeon crawls?

Sup famalams I'm curious as to which version of FFVI I should be playing. I've been told that the GBA version would be best due to the additional content but I've also heard that I should play the SNES version for the sake of the original translation. Which is better /vr/?
Also has anyone got any recs for SNES games, specifically JRPGs? I got a USB SNES controller this Christmas and would like some more games to use with it.
Learn Japanese so you aren't held back by translations and can play games like Tengai Makyo Zero or Shin Megami Tensei If....
You can probably get the original translation on GBA.
However, the extra content in the GBA version is pretty lame overall in my opinion, not worth the much lower resolution of the GBA.
If you do go with the GBA version make sure you get the patch the restores the audio to SNES quality and fixes the color pallet.
For JRPGs you should check out Chrono Trigger, it's a must play.

>Chrono Trigger
Forgot to mention I'd already played that one sometime last year. Was an amazing game, though a bit on the easy side.
>>3711380
That'd probably be a good idea. Since I'm assuming you know Jap, would you mind telling me how you learned and what sites/materials you used? Apologies if this is a bother or sounds silly.
>they rehashed the mario 2 princess sprite for the mario 3 ending
How did people let them get away with such laziness?
Anon pls make better threads
You're better than this

This, better expose Mario 2.5.
Doing dog's work, anon.
ITT: misnamed consoles/games in your country
Around late 90's video game craze finally reached my country at full force. But %90 of market belonged to the NES clones (most popular being micro genius and game star I think).
The funny part is we called all video game consoles "Atari" although I've only seen 2 Atari 2600s when I was a kid (this might be due to the fact we lived in the poorfag parts of the country)
At some point that I don't know Atari became the generic term for "video games". We even called arcades "Atari salonu"(roughly means "atari center")
Even now if you show an xbox one to an old lady she'd probably call it "an atari"
And what did we call actual Atari: Kara kutu ("the black box" like those you'd have on a plane). If you google it you'd get images of a few atari 2600's among some flight recorders.
Country: Turkey
Based on personal experiences as a child, I might be wrong about everything
Don't know why but it's not uncommon to see people calling the MD "Mega Driver" here in Brazil, some smartasses created a vydia themed band named like thatthey sucks though
>>3711220
>still reeling from a notorious assassination and night club massacre, Anon informs us that it takes approximately 15 to 20 years for American culture to filter down.
Dark Link is actually impossible without exploiting
I dunno, my brother beat this on the original NES back in the day and I don't remember him doing any particularly cheap tactics or tricks
he also beat Battletoads legit with no warps and would just kinda ruthlessly throw himself at these games over and over until he finally could get through them
>>3711159
I just slashed and jumped like a retard until it died.
Git Gud.
Did you just tank through (or run like a little girl) every Iron Knuckle and Eagle Knight in the game?
If you didn't study, don't complain you can't pass the final exam.
I've been working to play more PSX games since I was raised a nintendofag, so where should I go next?
Here's my list of games I've played (favorites at the bottom, least favorites at the top, even though I like all of them (all at least a 7/10))
>Crash Bandicoot
>Metal Gear Solid
>Final Fantasy VIII
>Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
>FFIX
>FFVII
>Final Fantasy Tactics
Games I have on my list to play:
>Crash 2, 3, TR
>Spyro
>Suikoden II
>Silent Hill
>Resident Evil 2
>Rayman
>Xenogears
>Oddworld
>MediEvil
>Ape Escape
pic relatively unrelated
>it's all shit "cinematic experiences" and one casual Metroidvania that killed the franchise
PS1 was a mistake.
>>3711132
>cinematic experiences
>>crash bandicoot
>>3711127
Try googling terms like 'best psx games' 'top 50 psx games' then come back to discuss any titles you enjoy.
I need good jrpg for PSX.
Played Alundra, Vagrant, PE, chronos, valkyrie, xeno, finals, silver star, alundra, bof.
Hint: picrel wasn't good, was shit. bof was average.
rec threads get deleted here but you might get some responses until the thread 404s
There are no good JRPGs.

wut?
Does anyone else remember making hand-drawn maps of games to keep track of the level layout? Pic related, though unfortunately not one of mine; I don't even know where mine are now.
I did a bunch of shit like this as a kid. They're long gone though, if only I had the foresight to scan them.
I didn't need to draw maps because I had the Power. NINTENDO POWER! :^]
i had a bunch of phantasy star dungeon maps on this fancy square paper which i dont recall the name in english right now
of course they're all long gone but it was fun making them
Mario can bounce off the fireballs from the boss of the 4th castle
>>3710926
Doesn't surprise me. Pretty much all snes games, and especially those that were successors to nes games, had their difficulties nerfed so Nintendo could appeal to a more casual audience.
>>3710930
Not really. Game design just got better and more intricate.
>>3710934
That holds true in some cases but there were plenty of great games for which is does not, SMB1-3 being great examples.
How do I apply this fucking patch? I supposedly need an ISO of the game but all I could find were archives containing either
1. a .bin file and a .cue file
2. .ccd, .img and .sub files
I can't seem to be able to turn any of these into a workable iso.
If anyone successfully did this, what applications did you use and what was the process? Maybe the programs I've tried so far have been garbage or I'm doing something wrong.
I was about to play this on my psp. What are the changes to the game?

>find a site called "the iso zone"
>"hmm this one has GOT to be an iso!"
>download, shit goes extremely slow because the site is garbage
>finally done after an hour
>it's the same fucking ccd, img & sub download
mother fucker
If no post your type and why.
Because you can't compete with Miho.
>>3710790
That filter is definitely not "kawaii" though
Love this game btw. It was one of the first Famicom games I emulated on Nesticle when I was a kid. I had this beta French translation for it, the show was big in France, but only the first two levels were translated.

Just picked this up with all 5 Sonic games. I have a large NES, SNES, N64, GameCube collection and want to get into Sega. Also have a Dreamcast that im going to start playing but only have Sonic adventure. I need some basic, solid Genesis and Dreamcast recommendations. Help me out guys!
all 3 sonics are immaculate. If you dont already have it I'd recommend the sega 6-pak. It's cheap and comes with sonic 1, golden axe, streets of rage, and revenge of shinobi. those are all classic games as well as revenge of shinobi's sequel shinobi 3. the genesis in alot of ways had better games than the snes anything the snes can do the genesis did it better
> contra hard corps
>castlevania bloodlines
>wily wars
>phantasy star 4
>ys 3
>gunstar heroes
I could go on
Ristar and Quackshot are both games that enjoy for the Genesis.

Uhhh...do you like shit arcade ports?
