I've heard that the N64 can play both NTSC and PAL-games correctly regardless of what version of the hardware you have? Is this true, or should I just get an NTSC unit from Japan?

>>
>>3710712
Yes, as long as you can defeat the region lockout.

It can do 60hz without modification
>>
Yep. I use a flash cart to play NTSC N64 games on my PAL N64 all the time. Every game I've tried works perfectly.

I've heard there could be slight timing differences between a PAL N64 in "60Hz mode" and a real NTSC N64, but I haven't heard of this causing actual problems.

>I've heard there could be slight timing differences between a PAL N64 in "60Hz mode" and a real NTSC N64
Aww man, this could be a dealbreaker to me. This especially sucks since the N64 has quite a few games, in the form of Rareware games, that work better in their PAL-versions.

Apparently AvP was going to get a Saturn port. I mean, I know about the rumoured 32X version, but this is new to me. I can't read moon, but I'm curious to know what this guy says.

Also, Guilty Gear.

Would it have been possible to make a 3d platformer using the Super FX chip?

Google I Robot arcade game to get your answer.

Would it have been possible to make something like Mario 64 though? Probably not.
>>

Yep, with horrendous framerate and untextured polygons. Would you play it?
>>
>>3710660

I don't know, Star Fox 2 runs at a decent speed and it has walking segments.

Is Blaster Master really any good? I played it and although it's not bad by any means, it's just an absolutely standard and average NES side scroller. No cool physics, no special mechanics or RPG elements—you just go forward and shoot. Then you get out of the car but it's about the same thing really. Mr. Gimmick was by far more interesting really as far as Sunsoft games go

What makes Blaster Master good is its mix of genres. Side-scrolling, top down, action, adventure.

>no first party games available so bought Ready 2 Rumble, few days later got Sonic Adventure, wanted House of the Dead 2 but guns were impossible to find so didn't buy for ages
>no VMUs available (had to wait two weeks to save games)
>no internet support available (eventually came months later, but exclusive to the worst ISP)
>console didn't even come with promised demo disc out of the box

But I loved it anyway. I had Sega Stockholm Syndrome.

TFW I have unrelenting gender issues, and in spite of having envied feminine aesthetic features, as well as appealing socially-cognisant capacities far outside the normal male range, I still have gorilla hands ... well, at least by female standards.

Top kek. The greatest achievement of this generation was to appropriate the work "woke" to mean people who don't appropriate things. They can't even into their own language. How do you expect they could learn another.

I inherited this game from my uncle when he passed away last year. I bought the guide last week at a local game shop for 40 bucks. All of it is complete and I am proud to own it.

But....I'm trying to play it, and....

WHAT THE FUCK, VICTOR?!

I knew WD was bad, but this is almost unplayable! The game is borked to death, the script is cringy as hell, and the guide reads as if a 12 year old hitting puberty wrote it! And to think I had been waiting to play this my entire life....

It's alright, a bit overrated by posters, and underrated by normies, but it's just alright.

You should play Castlevania III, IV and Bloodlines before this.
>>
>>3710227
Play it on an actual X68000 instead. The "original" mode is bugged and the Arrange mode is too casual and has a worse art style.

Are there any fantrans for the SNES games yet?
>>
Look up how to perform the special attacks, the multi punch and laser attack make the fights much easier.
>>
Been a long time since I've played, but from what I remember it's important to block attacks or stop them before hitting you whenever possible (by destroying projectiles or punching the boss as he charges you for example).

It's also a bit confusing at first if you don't know all the controls. There's actually a bunch of stuff you can do. Here's the description of Impact's controls from Ushiwaka's Gamefaqs guide:

Control stick: Moves the crosshairs on the screen to help you aim.
A button: A quick punch with your right arm.
B button: A stronger but slower punch with your left arm.
Z button: Shoot nasal bullets (costs 1 ryo per bullet).
R button: Launch the chain pipe. If you connect with the enemy, you can
tap A or B repeatedly to reel your opponent into pummeling range.
Combos:
Block: C right, C right or C left, C left (hold down the appropriate C
button on the second press).
Mouth Laser: C up, C left, C down, C right + Z or C up, C right, C down,
C left + Z (use when the laser gauge is filled).
One-Two Punch: B, B, A
Super Punch: C up, C down, C up, A
Punch-Kick Combo: B, B, B, A
Super Punch-Kick: Super Punch + A
Super Pipe Combo: B, A, R, R, A
Spring Kick: C down, C down, A

you guys think this is worth the hype?
obviously its pretty damn fun to fuck around in and the skill ceiling is high with speedruns or whatever, but maybe it's a little too easy?
>health everywhere
>save points everywhere
>barely anything is likely to kill you unless you just really suck at the game
it woulda been cooler maybe if there was more DANGER

Sounds like you haven't even tried it

Play the original first. If you like it, there's plenty of harder romhacks such as Super Metroid Redesign

Pro-tip: look up how to do the wall jump

Also almost everybody gets stuck at the tube in Maridia
>>
What 'hype'? the only people I know who use that word don't even know this game exist.
Anyway, Super Metroid is a good game.
>>
>>3710127
Super Metroid is just like any Zelda game. It's fun while it lasts, but there's barely any incentive to beat it twice, at least I don't see it.

I got 96% or so on my first run through it. The few items I didn't get were placed in some really retarded spots.

serious question:
how do you rate the psp port version of this game?
I recently tried to play ms2 on mame but as every non turbo version the game was slowed down in overpopulated parts of the game.
In the psp version is not.
I'm not an expert, how do you rate this version?

Not OP but If someone has experince emulating the games in mvspsp. Is it better or worse than in the anthology collection?
>>
>>3709835
OP here, what's mvspsp? (I searched on google but still not gettin it, is it a psp emulator?)
>>
>>3709845
Mvspsp 2,3,5 is a Neogeo emulator. It seems pretty accurate, be aware some games need to be cache patched before you can pkay them

Also you need the neogeo BIOS

Sadly I cant make Crossed Swords work even after patching
