Is it just me or is this game seriously underrated? My only criticism is that it's short, is there anything similar out there?

>My only criticism is that it's short, is there anything similar out there?
No. And that's exactly why it's "underrated".
>underrated
It's on almost every top list of Genesis games, it's very very popular.
I like the art style and concept, but was never a big fan of the gameplay and overall game design.
>is there anything similar out there?
Comix Zone is one of a kind. Sorry anon.
If you're looking for a strange unique game though, give The Ooze a try. I've never played it longer than an hour, but its interesting.
I want to play Wonderboy, what is the best order to play this series?
There's only one proper Wonderboy game (and a spin-off series based off it, Adventure Island). If you want a sidescrolling action-RPG, play Monster Land, Dragon's Trap, Monster World III, and Monster World IV, in that order. Monster Lair is a shmup/platformer hybrid. Best ones imo are Dragon's Trap and Monster World 4.
>>3707510
As with anything, production order.
You don't neccesarily have to beat them though. Play 'em for a bit until you find one that you think you're up to seeing through to the end. Wonder Boy 3: The Dragons Trap and Wonder Boy in Monster World are highlights. Wonder Boy in Monster Land (not World!) is probably the most difficult one.
So I prepared some games for my NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBC, GBC, NGP and TG16 emulator.
I read Retro-Sanctuary, Racketboy and even V's Recommended games but still.
Am I missing some truly essential games here? I guess you will know which console corresponds to each list.
Also, I'd rather no RPGs, I already have my hands full with DraQue 4, Resonance of Fate and Wild Guns for the next two months.
>>3707494
You won't play more than ~20% of that shit, max.
Genesis needs Ecco
Also I fucking love Herzog Zwei but playing it by yourself is kinda meh, heads up.
>>3707497
I'm actually planning to since I started a personal project of writing a blog with personal thoughts of every game I've finished.
That's why I chose essential games, action and platformers mostly (since RPG's take to much time and I'd rather play them at my own pace)
I just have one rule since I can't play everything on its original hardware: no savestates unless it's after finishing a level (like a normal save function, not for save scumming).
There's no way this site is legit, is there? 499 yen for a gba flash cart? That's less than 6 CAD. What's the catch?

What makes you think ¥ stands for Japanese yen?
Is it yuan? And if so, question still stands.
>>3707395
Not even American, but don't exchange one currency people aren't too familiar with to another one most people aren't familiar with.
Just US dollars or at worst €.
In the last month, there have been some threads about why Nintendo still "pretends" ExciteBike and Dr. Mario were good games. Well, here's the answer to this question.
I made a small research and turns out these games were quite big in Japan. ExciteBike and Dr. Mario sold over 1,5 million copies there, beating such popular titles as DQ and FFIII, and of course by far surpassing Contra, Castlevania and Megaman sales in the region.
So there you have it.
Thanks, anyway they are good games.
The real mystery is Urban Champion, although I guess being the first videogame about fighting guys on the street must have had its appeal back in the day.

Here's the list I took from https://matome.naver.jp/odai/2135511355842805701?&page=1. It could have some weirdnesses, for example there's no Zelda on it, but from what I am reading actual Zelda sales were stated by Family Computer Magazine to be at 0.92 mln which indeed puts it off the list.
Anyway, here it is, with sales in millions of copies:
1. SMB—6,81
2. SMB3—3,84
3. DQIII—3,80
4. DQIV—3,10
5. Golf—2,46
6. DQII—2,40
7. Baseball—2,35
8. Mahjong—2,13
9. Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium (aka Famista)—2,05
10. Tetris—1,81
11. Mario Bros—1,63
12. Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium '88—1,61
13. Excite Bike—1,57
14. Tennis—1,56
15. Doctor Mario—1,53
16. Soccer—1,53
17. F1 Race—1,52
18. DQ—1,50
19. Ninja Hattori-kun—1,50
20. Mahjong for 4—1,45
21. Spartan X—1,42
22. Final Fantasy III—1,40
23. Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium '87—1,30
24. Xevious—1,27
25. Gegege—1,25
26. Dragonball—1,23
27. Doraemon—1,15
28. Famicom Jump—1,10
29. Lode Runner—1,10
30. Adventure Island—1,05

Because Zelda was for most part a FDS game. The cartridge version came out a lot later.
> game is originally based on a super sentai show
> has one of the most original and cool power up systems in video games
> has superb action and control, one of the best on the system
What went so right?
It also has great graphics and one of the best soundtracks on the NES.

I think it was the other way around. Shatter Hand was made first, then adapted a tv-licensed game in Japan
>>3707246
Both were developed at the same time. IIRC there is barely 2 months between the release of the two games, which at the time between regions, is nothing.
A guy in my town is giving away one of these suckers and allegedly it's in great condition (I'd obviously test it first). Should I take it?

If you've got the space and a buddy (or a dolly/strong constitution) then go for it.

I remember finding a Mitsubishi 36" CRT by the road around 2008 I carried that fucker for one mile until I got home.

The Postal source code is out.
Don't know if people here care.
Yet Postal Redux is still not on GOG
>>3707085
Source port when? This game really needs better controls. I would play redux instead but
>Unreal engine
Alright, I downloaded the .7z file of pic related, extracted the .iso using 7-zip, and ran the setup.
However, when I run the app as an administrator, it doesn't work. What will make it work?
Note: I am using a Windows 10 laptop
dosbox, maybe
>>3706927
I don't think it's a DOS game, though.
>>3707316
You can install Windows in DOSbox but video drivers may not work. There is a significant gulf of games that neither work in DOSbox nor in modern Windows using compatibility mode that's why a lot of us have retro PCs.
>>3706898
Those are the region lock prongs, right?
To stop Americans from importing SFC or PAL SNES games. Few were interested in anything SFC because most of it is as the BBS console scene guys of the time would term as "unplayable." PAL shit had lockout chips after awhile so it was mostly an exercise in pointlessness.
>>3706907
so you could have actually played PAL games on that thing if those stoppers weren't there?
How would it compare to the PlayStation version?
>>3706859
no, as the n64 was shite at 2d, not to mention the atrocious muffled music and sfx.
>>3706859
probably i mean Rakuga Kids ran at 60fps. I might have beenblurrytho. Crapcum just sux and didnt see any revenue from a port to a kids system.

Hellz yeah, motherfucker. Countdown to Doomsday, with the most horrifying first quest I've ever seen. The sequel introduced Stage FOUR ECGs.

That thing behind him looked like a Gamecube from the thumbnail.
What are some games that take advantage of the Super Game Boy hardware to do cool things impossible on a normal GB?
>>3706503
With the original gb player the game plays slightly faster then normal. The japenese Gamboy player 2 fixed that
