Looking for a game.
You play as a fox who doesn't remember what happened last night. You're in a forest, and there's no built in map - the player has to draw the map themself. There are lots of traps and things that can kill you, and you have time start all over if you die. I think it's a DOS game... Any ideas?

theres games besides starfox that feature foxes?
>>3736526
Sure!
Star Fox's Bad Fur Day.
Name me a better Genesis puzzle game.

Who here loves AoW? I play contemporary games but usually end up playing some good old AoW singleplayer (mostly custom scenarios). Never had much of a chance to play AoW against others, except my best friend.
Any of you wanna play online?
>>3736402
I've never played it, I was too busy with Heroes of Might and Magic III. Might have to take a peek, though.
>>3736407
I myself never gave Heroes of Might and Magic III a shot, even though it inspired AoW. I'm definitely gonna check it out now that I'm in the mood.
>>3736409
It has a pretty huge following, even here on /vr/ as I'm sure you're well aware.
Get the complete edition, have a go and avoid the HD remake.
Maybe use the widescreen patch and WoG once you're comfy.
I can play this game at the local arcade in the city where I always come for vacation, the city of Mar de Ajó, Argentina. I don´t speak japanese and I can´t find the game on Google by image or description. It´s a little machine that lets you try shots on a cartoon like basketball game to get more coins for the arcade. ¿Anybody know it's english name?
That's Super Monkey Ball, obviously
Ask /vr/
why doesnt this shit work? what the fuck im so mad
i have a perfectly powerful computer but this shit crashes whenever it feels like and it wont recognize half of my perfectly functional roms
fuck this shit
>>3736270
are you asking for help or just complaining
either way sux2bu
>>3736274
>are you asking for help or just complaining
Both
I've followed the setup guide on their own damn website but this thing still
>crashes randomly when loading some roms or just whenever
>doesnt recognize my USB controller half the time
>doesnt load all my roms into its database when i tell it too
Download the BIOS pack and put it in system folder so you have all the BIOS files.

Also, make sure CUE sheets are not invalid and point to incorrect file names or paths.
So what /vr/ games do you want Nintendo to hack online functionality into and charge an obscene price for (which you will glady pay because you're a retard)?
>>3736267
Nintendo should make the switch to third-party already. They clearly don't know what to do with hardware anymore.
>>3736272
Nintendo should stick to handheld systems. They've been pretty consistently solid.
I think it's not retro, fuck off.
While this service is great, I've always been curious as to whether or not it decreases the lifetime integrity of the game on the disc? Will resurfaced games decay sooner than non-resurfaced ones?
FYI label-side damage is much worse than play-side.
Never place your discs upside-down. It won't protect them, quite the opposite in fact.
>>3736301
This. Some discs seem to be more susceptible to it than others, I think it has to do with the method the label is printed on. But if you have scratches going through the label side of the disc than it's likely the data itself has been damaged. No amount of resurfacing will fix the problem, unfortunately.
Meanwhile, on Melee Island™...

Listening to this makes me wish I had an MT-32.
How accurate is Munt?
For FMV games like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace and the like. What is the best way to play them besides LaserDisc players? How is the DVD version?
msu1 ports on sd2snes
DAPHNE is the emulator. The DVD versions are good too. Due to some licensing crap you have to own the DVD of the Digital Leisure ones to emulate them and I've never gone to the effort of figuring out how to hack it but there are quite a few that are abandoned and free to play.
>>3736224
Do the dvd ones work any dvd player? How does it work on say Xbox or PS2?
Bear with me here
Arguable "retro feel" factor aside, I think the most interesting thing about classic games, the one thing that can't be replicated, is the way devs HAD to wrestle with huge visual/computation limitations to create worthwhile experiences, and sometimes they actually used those roadblocks as starting points to develop gameplay and scenario concepts.
Pic related is the universal example; got a shitty 3D draw distance? Make a game about a spooky town shrouded in fog and darkness.
So what are your favorite examples?
heh
>>3736068
Well besides your example.
I'll say music. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Hf3O6mf3Rk
Sprites and dithering are also very neat,
>>3736098
That always was a cute one, but I wouldn't say it's what I had in mind (this is more like clever padding, or a workaround)
It can be little things like this other one; in my mind, the Enix tech guys were messing around with the dev kit and they ended up with this weird effect and they called everybody going all "what am I even Mode 7-ing lmao"; then some scenario guy came up with the idea of setting part of the gamein the concave surface inside a planet
You have 20 seconds to explain why your GameBoy isn't backlit and biverted yet.
>muh how the developers intended
They surely intended that you kill your eyes while playing
>muh stock GameBoy, muh value
What are you? A dirty reseller? Also it's a GameBoy, they aren't exactly rare.
I don't like altering my consoles, maybe if I had a spare one.
>>3735845
you forgot muh super gameboy
>>3735848
This. Except I do have a spare one and I still don't like altering my consoles. Besides, the Light Boy provides additional magnification.
So the following games have ports/remakes on the PSP
>Star Ocean (pic related)
>Valkyre Profile (lenneth)
>Lunar (silver star harmony)
>Final Fantasy 3
have any of you have tried them? should I just emulate the originals instead?
>>3735841
Of those I only have played VC and it's practically identical to the original except it's in widescreen and has some expensive-looking but soulless cgi cutscenes.
Also Star Ocean 2 is a respectable version, people say the voices are corny but it's just like a saturday anime voice english cast against bad 90s game voice cast.
Also Tales of Eternia was released on PSP but I guess it's PAL exclusive.
I always play the original first.
I didn't know they ported the DS FF3 to PSP but they ported it to fucking everything so I guess I'm not surprised.
It's probably the best version but significantly different from the original in obvious ways.
>Download Beatmania for Gameboy expecting a completely unplayable unrecognizable shit downgraded port
>Actually get a very well done game that's almost on par with the Playstation version graphically and contains almost as many songs too
Holy fuck this game is incredible
>>3735714
Got any demos?
I looked on youtube, but everyone is a fucking scrub.
>>3735752
Look for autoplays on youtube, usually that's what people will be uploading when they're no good at the game but they wanna demonstrate the music
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdOxs8o1oVQ
Just for fun here's the Playstation version for comparison

Learn a real instrument, nerds.
This is the best controller ever, I got a PS4 and hooked it up on my PC, now I got in the mood to emulate some good old games. The D Pad is so fucking good. Been playing Bloodborne, so maybe some Castlevania or GnG is in order.
What controllers do you use to emulate?
Sega Saturn Model 2 controller. Best 2D controller hands down.
I use the Hori Fighting Commander 4 for emulators. Tempted to pick their Edge-301 once I built a decent rig.
>>3735684
A controller with a good d-pad
I use a WiiU pro controller, mostly for convenience
This app is cool. You gotta be fast because resellers buy shit quick but good deals are on there. Got 6 disc only gamecube games all mario party and zelda for $20 free shipping. Just yesterday I got pokemon white ds for $4 free ship. Any other places good for finding shit. I found craigslist to be worthless.
The app is Mercari if anyone is interested. If u sign up use please use code RVMPVN to give my gurl some credits. She told me about the app. I even found selling my games easier than selling on vidya related sites an apps.
