Hello guys, I've been reading about a certain Fallout "bug" or rather funny workaround to have vehicles in an engine that doesn't properly supports them and I've gotten curious.
Do you guys know about some ingenious or interesting workaround used to bypass limitations of older hardware?
inb4 the clouds in Super Mario Bros.
>the clouds in Super Mario Bros.
What about them?
Also what workaround did Fallout need to have "vehicles"? What vehicles does it even have? The highwayman doesn't move in-game, just in the overworld map.

I didn't want to post the link because it's not retro but here you go
http://www.pcgamer.com/heres-whats-happening-inside-fallout-3s-metro-train/
tldr the metro wagon is actually an armor piece on an underground NPC
>>3739850
Oh, you're talking about Fallout 3. I thought you were talking about the Highwayman in Fallout 2 and I was confused because it shouldn't need a workaround. Also what was that about the clouds in SMB?
How good are you at Puzzle Games
>>3739606
Not KevinDDR good, but im very good at keeping clean at fast speeds
I can beat Pokemon Puzzle League on Super Hard with only 20 continues
>>3739606
Depends on the puzzle game. On Tetris DS, it's almost impossible to lose because you'll never run into a bad situation like getting consecutive pieces of Z's.
Ive been playing texmaster daily for about three months now so I think I have gotten better at Tetris. One day I may buy an arcade stick and try real TGM.
I'm trying to set up all my consoles with best possible picture quality.
NES
SNES
N64
GAMECUBE
GENESIS
DREAMCAST
For the Dreamcast I have a cheap VGA adapter going into a VGA to HDMI adapter.
For Genesis I'm using SCART to HDMI.
What should I do for the rest? Can my model one SNES use SCART? Should I use S-Video for N64 and GameCube? Help me out!
This is all going to a Samsung 62" Plasma btw. I have two CRT TVs but I'm tired of using them and I'm much more comfortable in the living room with my bigger TV. Also I'm getting old and can't see very well anymore so it's nice to have it on a big screen.

No one answer. No correct answer. Only what is right for you. Today. Based on your fee-fees.
For a fairly comprehensive list of options, check out retrorgb.com.
Fuck. I'd rather just spend the money on oem GC chords the send it to get all cut to shit.
I really just wanted to know what other people are using I didn't need anybody to tell me exactly what to do.
post obscure computer gaems
https://archive.org/details/softwarelibrary_win3_games
Me and my sister found a game called trappist blobs back in the early 90s on some obscure site. I've looked for it for two decades but never found it. You were a blob that built crazy traps,it was 2d and very open ended.
How the fuck do you beat this thing?
Every guide tells me I need to just put 16 plastic explosives on it, but I put all 20 on it, and nothing fucking happens.
Is this some kind of nasty anti piracy shit like in EarthBound?
To be clear, I'm using this romhack: http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2445/ But that wouldn't effect something like this would it?
Well whatever, I guess there's a trick to skipping the super computer, so at least I still beat the game I guess.
I think Mr. Romhacker didn't fully test the game, just weather or not the changes worked.
Play the original? Why do you come here with the expectation that a ROM hack should be fully functional?
>>3738807
that's a big crt
Densha de go 1 + 2
Kaze no Notam
Tokyo bus Annai 1 + 2
I love these type of games
Does /vr/ know of any other games like this?
>>3738758
Jet de GO!
Power Shovel (assuming you just mean "arcade vehicular simulations")
>>3738758
I used to call it Tokyo Bus Assistant. I don't know if that's right, but I love that game. Peaceful as fuck. And weird. A really great kind of weird where everything is a little empty. Big fan. Are any of the other games you listed playable with limited Japanese knowledge?
>>3738817
>Power Shovel
Destroy everything: the game, it was fun.
How do I use thisn Game Genie? I entered the codes from here http://info.sonicretro.org/Cheat_Codes:Sonic_the_Hedgehog_(16-bit) and it's not doing anything. Wtf?
>>3738496
Is the power switch on?
>>3738505
Well there you go.
>>3738506
Bahahahaha. Drinking too much higher I guess. Thanks bro.
Is this a remake or a new installment in the Kunio-kun series?
Also belt scroller thread.
It's a remake of Renegade, but with River City-style graphics and characters from all the FC Kunio-kun games. I'm not sure why they keep using the River City branding for localized Kunio games if they're keeping the Japanese settings this time.
>>3738258
actually, tokyo rumble is a sequel of the remake.
>>3738267
Yeah, you're right. I could've sworn Kunio-kun SP was being localized too for some reason.
I really want one of these.
>>3738074
I really want you to delet this
>>3738074
So wait, is this fake or not? I didn't follow the last thread this was posted in.
>>3738089
It's real. It's a one-off.
Who remembers Willow?
I thought it was top comfy above first legend of Zelda
>>3738058
Never played it until later on but willow is phenomenal. Really underrated game that still is relatively cheap for it's high quality.
For me the game that screams childhood more then anything is kirby's adventure. Loved it as a kid and still honestly one of my favorite games.
>>3738069
>mfw thats my second fav nes game
I think wed get along ok
I loved the ufo power
>>3738058
My wife loves this game. The instruction manual is covered in the save game codes. She even managed to save the Nintendo power map.
How come this is one of the least talked about RPGs of all time?
It has a pretty unique setting for a JRPG and a badass art style.
It's fucking batshit insane, I wish more people would talk about it for that reason if nothing else.
>>3738051
Because N64 is for fags.
It's often mentioned when people ask for N64 RPGs.
It's definitely an addicting game, mostly because of the battles. The plot and setting are enjoyable if you're okay with that late 90s X-Files vibe and ayy lmaos.
Navigating the game can be a bit frustrating sometimes, but there's isn't anything too bad, and it even evoke some moments of survival horror as well, it really plays a lot with bending genres, but at its core, this game is a dungeon crawler with turn-based wrestling combat, and light TPS/3D platforming action.
The combat is the best thing, which is rare to say about an RPG. It mixes 3D fighting and wrestling elements with turn-based combat and menues, and somehow it fucking works.
Thankfully it has a VS mode, if you can find someone to play with, it's a blast.
So currently I'm playing Parasite Eve 2 and I'm really into the combat, it's a cool variant of the "traditional" RE gunplay. Can we get a thread of good RE-alikes going? No restrictions on systems or generation.
countdown vampires
overblood
dino crisis
martian gothic
fear effect
deep fear on the saturn
T.R.A.G
Covert Ops: Nuclear Dawn
alone in the dark: the new nightmare
>games that are less about guns
vampire hunter D
galerians
silent hill
i'm sure some other people can name some more
If you're into the Onimusha style check out Vampire Hunter D. Once the get the hang of it it's really a great game (just turn off the autolock system)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwCWyOTs2R8
There is also Soul of the Samurai with a scenario system similar to RE2
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VHNSR31NcA
Deep Freeze, jap only but all the voices are in English. Hard game, couldn't never beat it even on easy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AaMor13SQD8
This game is such a fascinating mix of quality and shit, I love it.
There's tons of attention to detail that makes me think it had to have been made by fans. Wolverine has his healing factor, Nightcrawler's teleport actually serves transportation purposes, Jean picks you up out of pits instead of just respawning you. The characters also all have significant differences that affect how you play them.
Like they were more concerned with being faithful to the characters than they were about balance, and that's great in a way.
>Wait, Nightcrawler can just bamf through that wall? Should we fix that?
>Why? He's Nightcrawler, he can go wherever the fuck he wants, of course he can bamf through walls.
At the same time, so much of it's shit. Enemies will spawn on screen and attack you at the same moment, the sound design is HORRIBLE, all the bosses are insane without assists and a complete joke with them, etc.
Even the soundtrack reflects this: the compositions are nice but the instruments are horrible.
I wish I knew more about the development of this game, it must be fascinating.
>>3737653
You're actually retarded.
>>3737808
Everything OP said was true.
I am almost certain Generations Lost uses the same engine. It's plagued by many of the same problems. The Sound issues are because this is another G.E.M.S.-based game. Still, the solution to Mojo's Crunch is cool as fuck. Kojima would be proud.
how collect i this passwort part?
This video shows how to can swing to it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWtOgbGB-h0
>>3737698
It looks like they added snot in the playstation/saturn version to make it more obvious. I just tested it though on the genesis version and you can still swing from there.
>>3737698
Fuuuuark this song <3
>Enter Diego's shrine on Level 6.
>Take out the Exec-Bots and Security-1-Bots.
>Pull the lever to open the doorway where Diego is.
>Crouch and lean enough to see him around the corner of the doorway, then just shoot at him while he stands still and is eventually defeated.
I love System Shock but the AI is pretty retarded sometimes.
AI in 1994 can only be so good.
>>3738475
Yet somehow enemies in Doom psychically sense your presence from 100 feet away and never stop following you until either they or you are dead.
>there are people who use mouselook with this game
disgusting
