>Download Beatmania for Gameboy expecting a completely unplayable unrecognizable shit downgraded port
>Actually get a very well done game that's almost on par with the Playstation version graphically and contains almost as many songs too
Holy fuck this game is incredible

Got any demos?
I looked on youtube, but everyone is a fucking scrub.

Look for autoplays on youtube, usually that's what people will be uploading when they're no good at the game but they wanna demonstrate the music

Just for fun here's the Playstation version for comparison

Bought both on eBay after emulating and also being impressed. Kinda wish they made more on the GBA when music select was a thing cause it does get old having to play the same songs just to play the one you actually want to play. Going after the Pop n' carts next.

IIRC there's an unlock password for all three beatmania gameboy games that will instantly give you all the songs for free mode instead of having to play through the whole thing again, for the first one it was "uuddlrlrba", for gatchamix 1 it was "wonderful" and for gatchamix 2 I think it was "yebisusama". But yeah I too wish they made one for the GBA since that system had the cartridge capacity and the sound hardware to pull off sample based music.
What gave this game that retro feel?

It's old.

Sounds good, really makes me wonder what the fuck happened with the DDR ports on GBC though. Those sound just awful.

I'm a huge Beatmania fan, and I don't know why I never tried this one. Thanks for the heads up, OP.

No problem anons! I too am a huge fan of Beatmania, I think it's a legitimately radical game oozing in fat 90's beats and aesthetic

I guess we can make this a classic beatmania thread too, which mix is your favorite guys? I like 6th the best, had the most 'western' music despite never having a release outside of Japan

I like IIDX. I own an arcade accurate controller and 7th - 12th (non-retro, though.)
Regular is cool too, but years of IIDX has made it feel clunky and 5-keys feels like baby mode.

The early styles of IIDX are pretty rad too but I gotta say once you reach Empress which I think is around 16th the series went into straight weeaboo garbage territory

Damn, I really like the visuals.

90's beatmania was oozing in the coolest of 90's pop art imagery, Gatcha Mix 2 is probably the best when it comes to visuals though - I'm amazed it's coming out of an 8 bit system

The rhythm games don't look anywhere as good, but they good anime.

Kinda disappointed with the lack of anime visuals on Beatmania, though it still looks great.

Fuck me dead, I'm loving these.

The fact that it's somehow retro even tho it's after 1999
>>3739448
>1997
>after 1999
You've got something wrong somewhere.

I injected the series in my new 3DS and it plays great!
