What do you guys think of this? Spent a whole week working on it, and I think I've outdone myself
>>2726000
I like it
What medium is this
>>2726000
I like the contrast between him and the thing above his head/background
what the fuck is this piece of SHIT
I wanna get a tablet, but I feel like the amount of work I need to do just to be able to get used to a intuos will affect the time I could use it for practicing on paper. Also, I'm not good enough at all, but is there a certain point where switching over to digital is considered okay?
>>2727619
Spend at least a year or two working with a pencil first. This means regularly drawing, perhaps filling a sketchbook a month. Copy out anatomy books, study the figure, study perspective, study portraiture. Get the pencil moving and build up some basics in draftsmanship before getting a tablet, otherwise your progress will be really slowed down.
>>2727619
It takes like twenty minutes to get used to it. If you can use a mouse, you can use a tablet.
If you're dedicated and already drawing, feel free to get one whenever. It's the jogging shoe problem, isn't it? Get one because you're motivated, not one to motivate you.
>>2727625
>It takes like twenty minutes to get used to it
More like 1-2 weeks to get used to it, and maybe a month before it feels completely natural.
My first attempt at making a map for my D&D campaign. Looks fine I guess, But would like some tips on sparkling up the redo.Used watercolor, and micron pens. Also Map/ landscape thread.
>>2727916
You'd get more responses on /tg/ or Cartographers' Guild. Just sayin'.
>>2727919
Meh, I mainly want stylistic advise, like "This is how you make pretty lakes" sorta shit. Also watercolor people are mah niggas. What the fuck is Cartographers Guild though?
>>2727916
Normally my Maps are all linework, might put some watercolor into it next time. Not a bad idea.
Eh, What ya think?
go to /beg/
why do so many ppl make their own threads showing their work and then upload one pic. What are we supposed to tell you other than its some amateur pixel art. jfc
sorry my first time to anything other then /b/ thanks :>
>>2728735
agreed that it is really hard to judge something without other images on hand
at the same time
it's a bit lazy just to complain like a nauseated anus and fall back on some lazy 'amateur pixel' art claim
ANYHOW
Itt's a pretty tonally complex image
and I don't know if that really works with this pixel style
I don't know the intent of this image beyond some sort of quasi furry cute animal that wears make up or something?
DESU I find the attempt at cuteness to be pretty cloying
The eyes don't work ( I assume they are supposed to be closed lids)
in part because the way you are using line to inform the contour of the eyelids & eye sockets doesn't feel right with the way you use tone in the rest of the image
Also, the way that you are trying to use 'cute' forms (very round forms with lots of volume + implied softness)
that way you are trying to inform cuteness is at odds with the square frame.
the hard lines of the edges of the image really clash with the intended roundness (to my eyes)
Like I said
I can't tell the intent of this image
so
when you say
what do you think
I have to ask myself
is this for some indie game?
some commissioned furry forum avatar?
high school art project?
monochromatic flattening of Ocarina of Time villager face?
it's a bit ambiguous
also, don't apologize too much
mistakes are good to make
How do I acquire the drawing style of another artist I like? Pic related. If you read Gantz then you know this is by Hiroya Oku. He's really in the middle of drawing people inbetween anime and realism. I want that. How do I acquire the style of another artist?
>>2726607
read the sticky
>>2726607
Just copy his drawings. Master studies, they call it. You gotta copy a shitload of them, but hey thems the breaks.
He actually makes models (I think from clay but I'm not sure) of the characters and rotoscopes them, which is why they have that realistic look to them. I don't know how much he draws on it's own, but there's more to his style than just drawing well.
After half a semester of drawing 101, how am I doing?
Good?
>>2728422
-rely less on lines and more on value shifts
-Practice how to effectively place lost and found edges
-Reserve compressed charcoal for finishing touches and large areas of black
Anyone here has any full painting demos by Krenz Cushart? All I found are perspective demos.
I'm really interested in learning how this guy paints
>>2728353
>>2728353
>>2728375
That's all i have. K. Keep me posted
What kind of brushes does Koki use? I want to paint like this
>>2728280
Hard round brush.
>>2728280
For the most part, just looks like a hard round bush and a hard square brush with opacity bound to tablet pressure.
He might also have a paper texture brush and a hatching brush.
How would they get that pencil look using Sai?
Well this seems like the best board for this. I just got my first tattoo four days ago. And it's already almost completly peeled. I've been putting the cream on twice a day, applying minimal amounts, cold water showers, no itching it, basically following all the basics. Is it normal that this fast I'm already almost fully peeled?
The pictures are in order from the day after I got it till now, a time frame of three days, minus the one between when I got it and the pic.
Instead of asking a board that is meant for art critique, call the tattoo artist who gave this to you or the tattoo place itself. You'll get better answers.
try /fit/, a lot of the muscly guys there have tattoos
>>2728260
Wow. The color has peeled off. Is that a sign of a lousy tattoo job?
Is it necessary to have autism to draw like KJG?
>>2726206
Autism as in dedication and patience? If that's the criteria, then every successful man and woman in any industry vies for the title of most autistic motherfucker on the face of the earth.
>>2726206
No, just about 30 years of Drawing Every Day mostly from life, nothing autistic about having a solid daily routine.
No, but it helps. Jack Kirby drew in a similar manner, top to bottom like a scanner without any construction.
rip my shit apart
pls
>>2728408
finish your fucking work before you ask for a critique you cunt.
>>2728411
so i can look back and think ????fuck everything is wrong???????
no
How exponential is popularity-growth?
In my endless autism I've made a little program that allows you to compare how well you are doing to other artists. You input the date your profiles were created (on say DA, FA, Tumblr, etc), then you input your likes, followers, pageviews, etc, and those of whom you are comparing to. The little script then lets you know how you measure up, relative to the time your account has been existing.
So for instance if you have X views, Y faves, Z watchers and your account was made early 2014, but Sachimikan has 32X views, 12Y faves, 20Z watchers, but her account was made in 2011, it lets you know just how much worse you are doing and that you need to buckle up big time.
However the one thing this does not take into account is the fact that growth is NOT linear. But how nonlinear is it? Obviously success and popularity feed back into itself, but by what factor should I boost each consecutive year? 1.1? 1.3? 1.75?
Would appreciate any help if there are some experienced people around.
>>2725463
Her belly button is too high.
Impossible to measure
You have a whole fucking lot of variables that will affect your popularity function, and they will interact with one another in unpredictable ways on top of that
How do you define popularity anyway? Number of page views? Number of commissions? Number of autistically overpaid commissions?
A page of a scat porn artist won't have many views, but that doesn't mean he's not making a fucking killing with commissions. Not to mention nobody is gonna "like" his artworks in social networks, etc.
>>2725464
Cannot unsee. Fuck.
I really enjoy peterdraws' stuff, and am doing similar pieces of art right now. At the same time though I feel like my time/energy is wasted. How do I overcome this? Does anybody here do something similar?
>>2728392
You gotta get off the figure drawing hype train. A big group think on this board is that figure drawing(and a lesser extent character design) is the only real art.
You just gotta have fun, but yeah unless you want to make a coloring book out of the drawings there is no market for that stuff.
Last thread: >>2710853
This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Feng Zhu: “"There is no secret to drawing. The more you do it, the better you'll get. It's all about mileage. A lot of people try to look for shortcuts, but there aren't any. Just bite the bullet and do the work. There is no easy path."
Relative beginner here, I've got a question for you guys.
What process do you use when making your stuff?
What order do you do things in?
didnt post here in a while hi all
have a cute dose.
sketch then correct and redraw, start from there
there isn't a mandatory order, but if you do fundies one step at a time you'll learn basics faster
otherwise you will just try shortcuts to fake out how real world behaves
how do i draw like a mangaka
>>2714849
are these threads a reportable offence yet?
By studying cubism of course you dumbfuck.
>>2714851
why should they be
Unless you think Japanese art is some kind of taboo
