So, I normally paint miniatures like space mariens and Orcs, but I did this little cat for my mother. It has a red had with purple because she's part of the red hat society.
I am going to post the WIP pictures now. But it's done.
Did old masters used the best tech available in their times?
like if da vinci and miguelangelo were born today, they would have used digital stuff, 3D, photography, zbrush to make enough quality references to do their paintings, right?
The camera obscura was used as a drawing aid, and I recall some old masters attended secret autopsies as a way to better their anatomy skills.
>>2731350
"The old masters" weren't a single person. Some of them were pretty staunch traditionalists and probably would have not used digital if it became available. Others would have jumped on all new technology as soon as they could. Others would only use it if it paid their bills.
>>2731350
>miguelangelo
Didn't even like painting. Thought it was women's work.
Da Vinci probably would've used some aids, since he was using them at the time, and all would have used references to a degree that makes Frazetta look imaginative-based.
Otherwise, eh. Depends on the artist.
what is the attribute you consider most important that differentiates street art from vandalism?
technique, placement, or tastefulness?
The only vandalism I'm aware of is filling the world with drab grey blocks of concrete.

Technique 100%
Even that isn't really it though, smearing shit with your hands is a technique

Not defacing other's property
Draw manga and tell your manga background if you have any.

Where did you get that idea? Or is this a modern thing? Back in my day, I drew through Mark Crilley and Deviant Art tutorials where we learned to use construction. Aside from that, copy a bit from manga that I had read, but not often at all actually. Most of the time, it's just trying to get your style or just to look anime enough instead of amateur lines.
there's already a thread for this

Really? Can you link?
>Tfw almost no imagination
>Really good at the drawing fundamentals, but am an Aspie
>Only think about my drawing on the page as I see it
>Can cover up my lack of imagination through good execution, but at the core it's a bland idea.
>Marvel at the poorly drawn concepts that my friend makes because the primary idea is miles ahead of anything I'd ever create
It's kind of like when you see someone polishing a turd through rendering. I feel like when I get to where I want to be I'll be the next merc_wip; my design/composition is going to be very poor.
Is there a way around this?
I can't conceptualize anything. Even when I read books, the image flashes through my mind, and then, it's gone.
>>2732395
Draw in the moment. Don't think ahead. Don't think. One line at a time.
>>2732395
>Even when I read books, the image flashes through my mind, and then, it's gone
If you get the images at all that is a good sign. Maybe try focusing on holding the image in your mind, rereading the passages if necessary. You can then jot down quick thumbnails of it, which later can be expanded and added upon.
I have a similar issue. As a kid I had a much clearer imagination. If I had an idea for a picture, it was usually a very clear concept in my head. Exact pose, perspective, etc.
Now that I can actually draw decently, I can't imagine anything. It's gotten to the point even my dreams are turning non visual. More "concept" like reading a book and understanding but not seeing a picture. It feels more like I'm sketching to imagine than sketching my imagination.
Is it worth trying stuff in this style?
post other examples of this

Be better with Clinton, desu.
Looking for an artist, his work has oriental/japanese influences and sometimes small animations. His work is detailed and drawn digital. He has a very unique style and is pretty tumblr famous. I wish I remember his name, does anyone maybe know who I mean?
>>2732925
That's the most vague description of an artist I have ever heard
>>2732926
my thoughts too, you gotta give more, like a specific image for example. but if all they draw is generic portraits then you're lost
>>2732953
Nope it is not portraits, it is a bit psychedelic and has oriental/japanese influences. I remember he made a drawing of a tigre. And an animation like an illlustration but animated of a girl and pudding or something.
What are some differences between the: Italian Renaissance and the Northern Renaissance, noting the similarities and the differences between subjects, technique, and media.
I need to answer this question for a college course, I have read the book and I am struggling to find the answer. Any help and pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

How original go fuck yourself FAGGOT
So we've all heard the horror stories from the culture surrounding low tier college and for-profit art schools (weeaboos in cat ears roaming the halls, 'performance art', etc etc.)
How about the heavy hitter schools, though? Art Center, Sheridan, RISD, Calarts, off the top of my head. If any moneybag's gone there or heard tales from those who have, I'd be interested in knowing if there's major differences between their environments.
I've heard Art Center really piles the work on you right off, but I don't know much about the others.
are you talking about sheridan college in canada??
>>2731901
Sheridan's animation program is supposed to be quite solid, or at least that's what I've heard. Jury's out on their other departments.
>>2731908
I went there for their illustration program a few years ago and dropped out after a year. It was very weak in my opinion. I heard they changed it slightly since I left, but I would still be wary of it.
hey guys, i have a shitty youtube channel that looks like shit but i could really use some help with my channel art. can anyone help me?

somebody's feelin a little edgy tonight
what hurt you, anon?
>Do self anatomy study in front of mirror after reading through Bridgman's notes
>Hours fly by
>Have fun the entire time
>End up studying for 6 hours
Is this the fun way of studying?
I've learned a lot, and I wasn't bored to tears.
>>2730965
It's way better than sitting front of a monitor rotating a 3D anatomical model around, and more educational.
>>2730965
Been a while since I did nude drawings of myself. I don't remember it being that fun though, mostly it's difficult to draw and pose at the same time.
>>2730973
It is, but if you can get past it through the usage of multiple mirrors, etc it's great.
Sup, /adv/, I suck at lighting so let's post lighting references and guides. I understand how basic forms react to light and I understand shiny and matte surfaces, but nothing else. Please halp.
