i think it was on manben that i heard some mangaka saying that they start copying each other drawings at a very young age. also wondering if there's any books aside from draw manga and those baby's first manga drawing pdf's out there.

What? Absolutely not. I mean "how do I draw x" is already answered in the sticky. Besides majority of you have no clue on the basis of drawing manga anyway.
>>
>>2714849
There are books from Japan on the subject, but most of them start with Loomis and then go into stylisation/simplification of form.

Also perspective is stressed hugely - 1,2,3 and 5-point. They tend to think of figures as objects in perspective just like buildings and scenery, very little emphasis is given to gesture drawing or the like.

Obviously animation is going to be different.

But there is something off about mainstream anime style, all the figures look static or something? Like how in your typical cape comic, the figures look like they are posing for a shot. Manga has something similar going on, with an emphasis on posture that lacks gesture, or crazy detail in place of fluid motion. Has anyone noticed something similar?

yusuke murata has done a lot of streams that are easy to find
takehiko inoue did a dvd that's like 3 straight hours of him just drawing and inking; it's really good.
>>2715129
depends on the manga desu

i think illustration in general lends itself more easily to dynamic poses than fluid ones. there's some panels in devilman and berserk & vagabond that capture motion very nicely. buronson and inoue do a good job of it.
>>
>>2714849
Drawabox is good for this. Teaches you to draw in ink and how to get textures and such without relying on tones or other materials.
>>
>>2715229
>i think illustration in general lends itself more easily to dynamic poses than fluid ones.

I wouldn't say that, there are plenty of illustrations that fully capture both dynamic and fluid motions, the subjects look like they could move off the surface at any moment.

A lot of comics, eastern and western, seem to lack that. Haven't read Vagabond or Devilman, but Berserk, for some of its fluid moments, has significantly more of those "Pose dramatically for the camera!" moments.

Does it have to, maybe, do with roundness of form?

You just need to study under me. I learned dynamism and perspective

if you want to be schooled that is

Btw things you have to focus.
>art
(art is good but you have to study.).
>sexyness
make em sexy or people will avoid your works
>being good
to get good you have to draw A LOT
I really mean it, A LOT. It means you have to draw 10 hours per day, like I personally did and everyone else on this board does
>having good tastes
you wanna draw mangas? Lmao if you're a trash-tier animer you're not gonna make it, face it. Just learn good stuff for god-tier mangas
>/ic/ is your enemy
they're gonna shit on mangas or anime-like style so ignore them hide their posts and just follow artists on twitter
>not being a shindol patreon
you have no excuse for this desu

this is it
this is HOW YOU LEARN otherwise you're just doing something bad
other useful tips
>don't learn anatomy
everything is highly stylized, so don't bother
>learn shadows and lights
>perspective doesnt' really matter because readers are too stupid and they flip pages too fast to understand actions etc
>draw cute girls and muscolar guys

this is how you actually make it

GOOD LUCK

nah, they have more emphasis for gesture.
or rather, their emphasis is on a more natural, practical gesture.

another example. they'll also use more subtle gestures like this.
i don't see stuff like this a lot in capecomics at least. i don't think they would even consider doing softer gestures like this.

and i'm not picking the "teh best" pictures on purpose, just to give you a more general idea about what anime/manga shoot for when they think about gesture.

i'm not sure how to explain it. but it's the more casual things, like a simple bend of the back, and how that changes the entire posture. or gestures done with hands and fingers.
and smaller things like that. things that express character and attitude.

and i won't say the west doesn't do it at all. of course they do, just look at disney.

I just watched this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dmKLQOSvQk

By the same guy, and I noticed toward the end that he used a lot of unique brushes and tools to speed up workflow and give that traditional "manga" feel, as if it was actual print and not done in digital.

Where can I find these, since I don't think I have them in my version of Manga Studio 5, is there a place to download them, or am I just not looking in the right parts of the program?

Import brushes downloaded from DA/gumroad.

Screentones can be found on Windows>Material>Material[Monochromatic pattern] (I use Manga Studio EX in this case)

Use the marquee/select tool for to be filled areas and drag the pattern on it. Lots of pattern to play with.
Youtube or just the celsys website has more detailed tutorial for it.
