How do, /ic/?
Also, what's some good advice on shading and color accents? I try to be as clean as possible, but I often find it takes a mind numbing amount of time to color and then erase to perfect edges. I have autodesk sketchbook. Is there a recommended layer type for that sort of thing?
Looks like you'd be better off using Illustrator.
what technique are you using that you're erasing and taking forever?

Artist plz?
Tourist here, why is it that despite 50+ hours of work, a digital drawing will always look like an artificial cheap plastic turd compared to a mere sketch done with a pencil on a piece of paper in 5 mins?
Don't silence (ban) me, I'm just curious.
>>3035046
It has to do with markmaking being much more limited in digital. When you do a stroke in photoshop it is a set shape that stamps over and over in a very predictable way. Sure there's a bit of variation you can get like a bit of size variation or opacity, and there can be some texture introduced but again it's typically very repetitive. In traditional media there is a lot more variety you can achieve in a single stroke as you vary the pressure/angle/rotation/speed etc. and there is constant tactile feedback too. Traditional media also has physical texture which digital doesn't.
All that said, digital just takes a bit more work to get that nuance in it. Instead of doing it in a single stroke it might take two or three. I don't think it always has to look plastic or artificial.
Isn't it funny how pic related has more artistic value than the digital "art" made by this individual who earns $300,000+/year? https://www.patreon.com/sakimichan

Yeah man. You're right! I never realized this. I'm quitting digital now. Thanks a lot for your input! I'm going to save so much time now...

How old should you be to give up art if you have been trying to get better but failing?
>>3036292
If you're older than 10 and haven't started practicing seriously then you'll never be good.

Shadman is getting really good at art. He's amazing
is that shadman?
What additional hardware do you use besides your drawing tablet?
I'm currently thinking about getting something extra (be it the wacom remote, a third party hotkey device, or even something hardware based like palettegear), since I'm a bit annoyed about the missing touchstrip on the cintiq 13hd.
Or maybe it's possible to use an old ipod touch as dedicated color picker or something? Does any of you guys know if there's an app for that?
basically: digital drawing tools + extras thread.
highly recommend the Logitech G13
I use a G13 + a numpad to control opacity with my left hand.
Thinking about changing to a Razer Tartarus since the G13 is too big.
I'm interested in buying those knobs but they are really expensive.

>Or maybe it's possible to use an old ipod touch as dedicated color picker or something? Does any of you guys know if there's an app for that?
There used to be an iOS app that would let you control opacity and brush size in Photoshop but Adobe took it down. I don't think there is any replacement.

Oh hey why so much of these superficial stuff. I would rather spend the money in a better computer/tablet.
Its a page for my webtoon

I can't even tell how it's supposed to read, plus you flipped that shit horizontally, making it a hassle. Also, your art sucks dick.
Oh man, snap

And what is your imagination to reference ratio?
I've been doing 70:30 but I find I'm not retaining much.

100% imagination because you're actually forced to think about forms instead of meme-tracing

Why does everyone hate on NoseBro?
>Buy open stock Copics from Michaels
>Some of them die quicker
>Much quicker than the Copics I bought online
>Wonder why
>Go to Michaels on a busy Saturday afternoon
>Grab what I need, go to the checkout line
>It's where the open stock Copics are sold
>A guy and his two young kids are ahead of me in line
>The guy is looking at some stuff
>His kids are trying out markers
>Wait in line
>He tells me "Oh they aren't in line buying anything, they're just playing with the markers. Go ahead."
>Look back at the kids in horror
>They're scribbling on scrap paper with markers and putting them back
>Realize why my markers are dry
>Consider saying something
>Reconsider, proceed to checkout
It's not a big deal since they're refillable, but at least now I understand why the Prismas are kept behind glass.
Still, how fucking rude is this?

I am such a huge fan of his work and his character designs. They are just so creative and well thought of. His work literally inspired me to follow in his footsteps to become a character designer. Im just wondering would copying his work for study be enough to achieve his level? He is so good with the fundementals tho you can tell when copying his work he really understand anatomy and perspective so well, no to mention all the other stuff like color and rendering. Of course I will also draw from life but is there anything else? Here is some work of his I copied mind you not traced or used the eye drop.
Yeah looks good so far just learn his ratios and keep applying it and see how he simplifies stuff and you'll eventually get there.
Why are people obsessed with Persona all the sudden?

Regular reminder that learning properly and efficient is far more important than just putting in the hours. If you're following a schedule and you don't change things on a daily basis you're fucking up and you are significantly holding back your progress.
If you don't invest some time in learning proper studying habits, memorization techniques and thought process refinement you will waste a lot of time.
If you ask for advice on this matter and wait for input instead of going out now and doing your own research you are confirming that you don't have the talent to learn efficiently.
Thanks.

The opening post is self-explanatory.
So I've heard that if you are even a mildly attractive girl, you can stream on twitch and get a lot of cash.
Does anyone do this successfully that you can share with me on how to get started or any tips?
I have no social media following at all, so I have no idea where/how to start....like literally all I have is an instagram with 50-some followers. I don't even have a tumblr or DA so I have no idea how I would find people to watch me.
I am thinking I will record myself drawing (cam one on the screen, cam two on me)...and draw things for people who donate, etc.
I also want to play some video games as I hear that brings in a bigger crowd too?
>>3032482
>mildly attractive girl
ergo, not you op
Post your insta acc.
>>3032482
everybody and their mother is doing it, so why not.
i watch twitch a lot, and honestly nobody is doing creative streaming right. the top channels are always the music streams and its just someone looping tracks while people socialize in the chat... not exactly what the category was intended for i think
and a lot of girl streamers are not interesting. they just arent and im not being sexist. they dont have anything to talk about, their voices are often shrill, they shamelessly play up the sugar daddy angle.
but again, some people are fine with that, but the streamers will have to be fine with constantly entertaining a specific male viewer - the creep.
but yeah if you have things to talk about then people will come back. you probably checked the irl streams. there are much hotter girls out there than you, so youll have to be interesting/charming or forever be a 'pity channel'
Learn to draw shirt and pants along with clothing folds first. You'll be drawing clothed people way more often than nude unless youre a hentai artist, plus, drawing clothes makes you think of the form underneath it and the complicated form of clothing, while human flesh is much more simpler.

I've met some of these people before, it's always just as hilarious
Personally, every thing in life makes me depressed, watching tv, listening to music, reading 4chan. But the one thing i take pleasure in is grinding a bunch of drawings on paper. But i have no internet presence, just a sketcbook.
I feel like if i really dedicated myself to it for years, i could one day be an animator. But. The one fucking thing stopping me is getting married, its really the absolute number one thing. If it werent for my fucking penis, i could be living the dream.
How the fuck do i get over this? Is it worth it to be a starving artist?
>>3036937
Just break up with the slag and move in with mum.
>>3036937
You don't have to choose one or the other. You gotta find a system and git gud at time management is all.
Also, start uploading your art and animation, how else will people know you exist?
>>3036938
>kill myself right now
alright
>>3036950
Idk how to time manage. Sorry for the blogging, but this is realistically all the things i have to juggle
-anime watching
-drawing
-college business classes
-socializing
I combined working out and studying japanese with anime watching. But idk, i get really tired and sleep deprived on my schedule. I really really hate having an online presence. Like if you put me in charge of an account, i will fuck it up and delete it in a few days. I wish i had some girlfriend or friend who could upload my artwork for me and take care of everything, sort of like what james rolfe and mike matei did.
Also, i think being a comic artist would fit me better than an animator, because im reflecting back to times i tried animation and thought it was miserable.
I am having, what you would call a midlife crisis, eventhough im just 18
