Bought a cintiq 13 pro, It's being sent for repairs and I'm dying. Should I buy an iPad pro? Is it the best sketching experience? Not bothering with an mobile studio pro, I'm content with my 13" for in home use. What are good alternatives? I tried the surface pro 4 but it feels like shit compared to my cintiq.
Money isn't a concern aslong as I can have a good digital sketching experience on the go and finish the rest on my cintiq.
That puppy is cute. Cute!
I have an iPad pro, I would said is pretty good companion for your cintiq at home, good responsive tool.
I also advise you to be more inteligent with your invest, your money, and use it on something else, it's a little expensive for sketching.

What would you suggest? I don't have a laptop and mostly use my desktop but I want to draw as much as possible, I could up the size on my cintiq but don't see the point, as I'm fine with the screen size.

Just get a 27qhd and carry it around on your back.
Are there any freelance digital artists making six figures? What are the chances you can become well off financially if you're ridiculously good at painting?
Always wondered what guys like Rapoza, Mullins, etc. make. Outliers like Sakimichan and business owners like Feng don't count.
>>3042106
There's a few paths to financial success to artists. Here's the dark side of the force for ya though.
>>3042113
What are some legitimate paths?
I already know about furry art and don't care.
>>3042119
>legitimate
>implying porn isn't legitimate
Well, the other stuff requires a lot of networking and nepotism. And these guys don't make as much as you'd think. Unless you're doing 3d animation for disney, you better have some other technical skills aside from drawing good. Like photoshop, video editing, etc.
Striking out on your own is incredibly difficult. Especially now that there's an over saturation of art today. And assuming you live in the United States, realize you're competing online with people from other countries where a buck goes a long way.
Ive discovered something....Recently ive been less motivated to draw as I have been to write
Ill have an Idea and ill force it out and my hands like "NO FUCK YOU, we ARENT doing this shit right now"
And ill just like stab that shit with a pencil and....
Anyways the shit that IVE been drawn amounts to doodles usually and thats okay becaus when I color that shit It looks more me and it feels better to do generally.....basically just sit down and relax and give a little bit less of a fuck than usual and see what happens i think as artist were all so compelled to stretch toward our own ceilings that the outcomes arent quite as maliable as they would be if we drew for dun like we did as children
Heres the last one I did...
Post your results....If you feel like it you know?
love the lines and the colors
not your blog
Right before people actually stop drawing, you'll see a lot of the same subjects; people without eyes, mouths, people without hands, etc. It's just the universal way saying that you're done with art and communication in general. I'm not there now but I have been in the past.

You only hate /gd/ because you suck
You know in manga they sometimes have these swirly backgrounds that denote anger, frustration or annoyance? Anybody have resources for that or specific pages?
Trying to draw a guy, hunched over, smoking and looking annoyed at the viewer.
They're called screen tones retard

I think I may have a very good advice for you.
Your lines are a fucking mess, but in these particular drawings you have a very good graphic sort of shape design going on, so if it's not 100% deliberate, I suggest you focus on that aspect of your work and maybe make it a base for your personal style.
Study
>deel, sladkiy-pirozhok, snatti89, inputwo (more anime)
>Nesskain, Mikhail Rakhmatullin (more realism)
and if some of their work or technique resonates with you, see if you can implement it into your style.
I also wouldn't mind seeing your blog, if I may.

This is one of my older (and pretty much abandoned) works. Was trying to go FZDSCHOOL but didn't really work out.
Don't really have a blog.

are the ones who spout this bitter people who learned things the old way and insist on dragging everyone down with them?
with 3D posers and infinite references on the internet, you can pretty much draw anything you want with minimal effort.
so how come you still can't draw? :^D
>>3042734
>with 3D posers and infinite references on the internet, you can pretty much draw anything you want with minimal effort.
Yeah, but it will also look like a 3D poser minimal effort drawing.

IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Hey all, was wondering at what size does one start a character portrait in Photoshop? is larger honestly better for a portfolio piece or is it up to the discretion of the artist?
Also, bonus points, can anyone point me in the direction of a good character design / digital painting book geared towards the game design industry? Looking to break into environments and general character design w/ emphasis on blocking in shapes rather than line drawing for the sake of efficiency, Thanks.
>>3039165
Paint in photoshop with large files. atleast 4000x4000 pixels with a resolution of 300.
that being said start your painting zoomed out. focus on the thumbnail and then as you progress zoom in for the details.
>>3039169
4000x4000 you say? alright cool, is that an acceptable portfolio size? thanks mate
>>3039175
After you finish. Make sure you scale it down to around 1000x1000 pixels.
Let's see how good you are at adding faces to human skulls /ic/!
Skull belongs to a person of unknown sex and ethnicity.
Here u go

1 year? 3 years? 5 years?
1 year if you draw everyday. Those examples doesn't look all that grand.
>>3042442
LMAO, Show me 1 person who got this good in 1 year.
>>3042444
don't be so obvious when you try to bait next time (less accusational statements and less acronyms like LMAO especially in caps)
i know /ic/ is easy pickings but people are getting more keen to it recently
Stuff you've drawn.
Give an explanation of what it means to you.
This expresses the broken nature of my love.
This expresses how I feel most of the time.
This expresses how confusion makes me feel.
>The question, /IC/, was what did you want to BE?
>>3040888
i just wanted to draw the stuff i imagined in my head.
>>3040888
Euphoric. I don't care about the craft or the message, I just wanted to have fun.
Hi guys! You're gonna make it! Don't give up! Bye!

I come here expecting degrading comments, not motivational paroles.
ruined my day to be honest
>>3039045
Don't tell me what to do.
Speaking of making it, what's the end goal anons?
i need help coming up with a musical artist name. I like the names from the OWSLA record label. I really like names like Getter, Skrillex, Wiwek, or kill the noise. Also Metallica is an awesome name. Thanks
yeah i tried that
>>3042473
Tried what? /KYS/? clearly not as you managed to make this shitty request thread.
Hey /ic/
I saved up 800$ that I plan to spend on art education. My goals are to master perspective, tone and anatomy with a side of industrial design to be able to create pretty much anything I wish. I've already gone through Scott Robertson's how to draw book, and although I still need more practice I sort of understanding to do an accurate model if necessary, even if it takes me 15 hours to do a simple plane (Pic related)
I was thinking of doing a whole year of Watts Atelier to dive into the fundamental skills of pencilwork, tone, anatomy and painting, as I feel these are the skills I need to focus more on. (My linework is horrible)
Think this is a good idea?
For learning art yes I think it's a good idea to learn from Watts but it's only a good idea if it fits in your life and budget. If you were at an age where it would be smarter to save for a car for example you might want to do that.
Bump
>>3032459
21. I don't have much need for a car atm (besides wanting to drift, which is not happening any time soon), I would probably get a cheap second hand 600cc bike if I need to move around.
