Pencil, then vector, then canvas. I drew a sketch of the engine of my 1981 Yamaha XS400 motorcycle while I was stopped on the side of the road. Years later, Gallery 788 in Baltimore held a Motorcycle Art show, and so I brought out the sketch, drew it in vector, and added the quote.

cant read it at all, try again
So I've been drawing forever now and I love doing it. I even got my associates in digital design and in the fall I'm getting my bachelor's for Graphic Design.Ever since college I began to doubt my own work more and more and began to judge mine against other's, I even went as far as trying to draw in styles or as much as I hate to say it tracing how my favorite artists do their work.
I wanna get better with my work without feeling so hampered down whenever I see something better, at least my digital work anyway. I just wanted to get some advice really.

>See all the artists that got inspiration from them like anime and shit
>feels bad cause i dont have taste and never actually enjoy them
>Only work on the things i have atm ( free online references, working on my own ideas,etc,..)
Is this bad or good? Does anyone feels the same

What made you want to learn drawing in the first place? Don't you have any interests?
You know all old masters got their inspiration from anime and vidya, right?
Better start watching and playing or else NGMI

IF YOU ARE A /BEG/INNER IN ART, please use this thread to post pieces for critique or ask for advice. We should not have to make new threads or post in the Drawthread with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make someone proud.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

maybe u should put more years into it, like 5.

Just fuck it up already, so you can work on the next one. Nice drawing though.
Can you put something for scale? This looks way too small for a sculpture. You wont be able to put any details in there.
Are there any professional artists who lurk on /ic/?
Or is it just beginners.

You can make a living off your art.
Boarder on Rail was done in prep for a cover for the magazine "Monopod". I really liked how it turned out as a sketch, and later scanned my sketchbook to create the vector. It was done hard-pencil; no sketching (I'm still trying to train myself to do that) completely from memory. I especially love the fact that his shirt meshes completely with the background, leaving his right arm floating in space.
This later appeared in vector on my business cards. For those of you who might wonder, yes, I can skateboard; though not very well. I'm still learning how to. I've wanted to learn for years; but at home all the roads are dirt, so that kinda limits you.

Is there a big difference between oil and acrylic paint? Recently, I bought some acrylic colors as there were cheaper and seem to be less toxic. However, the colors are way too bright and "colorful". I can't get tones like in pic related. Any advices?
>>3031752
you can mute a color by mixing in a tiny amount of complimentary color to it. That's not an issue. Differences between oil and acrylics are numerous. Oil has waaay longer drying time, more luminosity (light can travel in an out the oil), oil blends easily and has that buttery quality that's so great to work with, but you have to have a more methodic way of working in order not to trip yourself later in the process (fat over lean).
Is there a fine art any finer than oil painting
Chunbum need not reply
>>3031752
Sell the acrylics on eBay, unless you're already attached to them. Oils can be dangerous if you have pets or small children around, but with organization and caution, you don't have to worry.
There are some people doing great things in acrylics. Many of the Impressionists might have preferred acrylics if they had been available, simply because you can work quickly in alla prima and get a lot of abstract ideas out. What would Manet and Monet have looked like then? Less depth and luminosity, almost like a shadowbox or a diorama. The time, planning and consideration which oils demand can be a real source of pleasure, as long as you know how to mix paint, layer and blend in opaques or transparents, and store wet canvases. Oils generally have more impact and sell for higher prices.

Whore out to trends
>>3032272
Care to give an example?
Like currently how everyone was drawing 2B from nier in sexy poses?
I dont feel very enthusiastic about drawing porn though.
>>3032280
Then just draw 2B not in sexy poses, still works.
