How hard of a skill is color theory anyway? In comparison to anatomy and perspective?
When I look at the progress of most artists color theory, it generally takes them 2 years to get good at it but I think it's because they didn't focus on it. I dunno, what are your thoughts /ic

all depends, if you're doing matte paintings, big landscapes its pretty essential. If you're doing very painterly paintings, it is also pretty good, even though you can just develop a color palette that you use over and over. For weeb anime shit, you might as well download some scheme from the interwebs as nobody gives a fuck.
For me color theory is an absolute pain in the ass but that's mostly because I focus on creating detailed sketches instead of actual paintings and drawings. I only have 1 or 2 actually DECENT paintings because of this.

learning how to use color is 10% knowing how light works, 70% experimentation, and 20% copying what other people do

Anyone know what this style of shading is called?
How do you come up with an online handle for your art?
You think about it, dork. Or you go through a trial and error process.
Short and sweet like mine, Derek. (-:

I like Doctor Who.
What happened to the "Questions that dont deserve their own thread" thread? The board is flooded with posts that could be organized into such a thread.
Also, why are there so many shitposts? I noticed that this started to happen as soon as summer arrived. Btw who is this Illustrat guy everyone hates?
The questions thread is still there, I saw it a few hours ago.
The lack of activity and shitposting threads is pushing it away though

Link?
Post the oldest drawing you made (that you have possession of, obviously.) and describe how you can change it/improve it.
The contrast of the silloete and background kinda blend together, and with the fireball the streaks look way too rough, and don't really glow like they should.
did when I was 14, I would improve it by erasing it and going to read a book on anatomy and creature design

desu it's already flawless, I guess I'm just naturally talented.

Hey /IC/ I'm not an artist but a dude with some money.
What should I know when I want to commission something?
GG good help. If an artist says he browses ic I will ignore him.
>>3040385
How about you look at an artist's art and see if you like it or not?

should web comics be considered below or above contemporary art?

They occupy the same tier.
I can see what's wrong with it but I don't have the technical knowledge on how to fix it.
Mostly chin up perspectives and side-angle views are my hardships.
Here's something 'better' I tried to do.
I also can't seem to do any eye forms from different perspectives. :/

Thank you! Is there anything on male shoulders and hips?
How the fuck do I draw them? I've just been skipping them on my figure sketches.
you break out an anatomy book. study the pectoral area and how it connects to the breast.
Is that an actual human being or just a really creepy render of one? If it's a render then wow it looks surprisingly realistic except for the face being somewhat creepy somehow. If it's a real person that is the most ugly blonde I've seen

it's a real doll, welcome to the internet
Out of curiosity but, after you watch a movie, do you go back and make a screencap of all the scenes you liked to use later as a reference?
Trying to capture particular facial expression or mood or just action?
I've personally never done this but it sounds like a really good idea
ya sometimes
mainly if I see cool values/colors/composition

Quite time consuming too.
Since I started doing it some sets go on hundredths of pictures.
Sonatine: 500 pictures.
Band of Brothers: 300 (it was one of the earliest when I didnt took many pictures.
The Pacific: 900 (since those are long series)
Many of them are really fun to draw later as well.
