You can do the lifts as part of your homemade program with all that cardio but it isn't starting strength.
Starting strength doesn't include cardio and it does include a calorie surplus.
You can call your routine starting strength but it won't be starting strength as riptits defines it.

How the fuck do you get healthy? Eating habits, exercise, sleep - I can't manage any of it consistently and it's been this way for years.
1. Using "common sense" results in a slowly sliding back into my old habits
2. Using some kind of system with x amount of calories/day or y many workouts/week isn't flexible enough and fails sooner later when something unforeseen happens.
I've probably tried and bounced back like this at least 20 times. I don't know what to do.

I eat the exact same shit everyday. I stick to a exercise routine and keep consistent. I go to sleep at the same time everyday.

I've lost about 20 pounds of fat while putting on some pounds of muscle this past year, but I haven't reached my goal weight, I still have 20 pounds to go. 20 pounds isn't alot, I should be able to lose that in 3-5 months at least, but I find it difficult to maintain a healthy diet.
I do exercise consistently, which is why I've made some progress, so at least I have that going for me. Just stick to exercising at least 5 days a week then focus on your diet, IDK tho

Lift functional. Foundational lifts. Run.
No straight power lifting. I don't know the specifics of their regimens but it's probably got a lot of muscle confusion. 3x10's - 4x12's seem like they would produce the most efficient endurance muscle strength.
That's also the 10x rule - the body is capable of more than 10 times what you think it is.

and what all do you get for what you pay? the place i'm planning on joining is gonna make me do a 2 year contract if i want it reasonably priced.
price includes all these cool big group classes but no personal trainer or anything. they'll measure bodyfat % and stuff once and i get like one hour once with a personal trainer. think it's like $35/month and that seems kinda high. locker room is very nice and has a sauna.

Many of these places have fitness centers but it's mostly treadmills with a small freeweight section that rarely go over 50lb dumbbells.

Sometimes I have a rental car with me but other times I don't depending on location. so going to a chain gym isnt always an option. Plus im stuck on a year contract with golds until the end of this year.

I suppose it's how often you're away if you can get a few heavy workouts in when you're home. Use hotel stuff as a bonus up the reps isolate muscle groups. Beats spunking extra money and having to find gyms on the road.
You don't need much equipment to get a good workout in. Unless you're training to be the next Mr Olympia I wouldn't sweat it too much.
