Dips are a better exercise than bench press. It provides a far better stretch on the chest and works the triceps more. More muscle and strength gains. Replace your bench pressing with body weight dips, seated dips, and weighted dips.
I do both
Why not do both? Bench is really great for building a solid back as well, and developing good core strength. Really, they're both great upper body exercises.

Tricep dips are great for triceps.
Chest dips are actually terrible

there was time when things were different.

>weigh more than you did when you started cutting
Aesthetics > Weight
>>40617825
God I hate that. I weigh naked at home and then come to the doctor with full gear on and lose all my motivation.

just take off your clothes. Refuse to weigh with clothes on. Stand up for yourselves.
Sup /fit/. what type of weight that fits a non-olympic barebell is the heaviest while not being fucking huge?
I have the pic related type in my home gym. They are cheap as fuck and kinda "gummy", ofc they arent amazing but if you don't throw them like a retard they can survive some years. Problem is i can fit only 7x10kg on one side of the barebell cause they are fucking huge, which will probably become a problem in a couple of months. Is there anything smaller but close to this weight?
>>40617807
I don't understand the question, you want more weight without the mass? What are you, some kind of retarded?
>>40617939
I mean, those 10kgs i got are pretty fucking wide. Like i see people squatting 440 without even using half of the avaiable space while i cant fit in more than 300
>>40617807
there must be some 55lbs pl8 on your town, buy some and be happy
is this bad for somereason /fit/?
i dont understand?
/fit/ guys sometimes do this right?
why is it wrong?
>>40617762

Think for yourself for one sec, is there something wrong with drinking water from a jug?
Fucking retard, stop wasting your time and small brain on stupid shit
Should I go to the gym if I have a bit of a cough /fit/?
>>40617644
No fuck off. In fact, never come again. I don't like having other people at the gym with me, especially sickies.
If everyone else could just fuck off for 30 minutes while I lift that would be amazing.
>>40617644
Uncle Scoobs once told me for a minor cough sickness working out could help
>>40617644
I go to the gym sick all the time. I have a cold and went yesterday. I don't do my routine, just fuck around with light weight - honestly it makes me feel better.
That goes to the grocery store, and glance what fat people put into their shopping carts? Then proceed to shake my head in judgement. I cant be the only person that does this.

How do I fix my body?
Squat heavy
excersise
>>40617501
Reduce your sugar intake and that gut will disappear.
how long is your workout? mine is about 2.5 hours but i think its too much but it might be because of the rest time
>>40617401
How long do you rest?
It was 2 hours cause of long rests, I started counting my rests with my phone's timer now it's down to about 1 hr 30 mins
45min-1hr max. I don't rest for more than 30 sec

what exercises for lower chest?
Hey, /fit/. Just wanted to your opinions on skipping as an exercise. Is it good for losing weight? Also, I'm a 5' 8 18 year old manlet. Will skipping help me with that?
>skipping
The only thing that's good for is going to the candy shop with your boyfriend to buy some lollipops to stick in each other's asses, effectively reminding the world what the term "sweet cheeks" really means
>>40617216
No, and at 5'8'' there's no hope for your height. Your only choice is to become a cardio bunny and focus on glutes for exercise so you can become a delicious trap for a 6'5'' powerlifter.

>6'5

Hahahaha, get back to your fat lifting general, manlet
tl;dr I'm gym noob plz answer questions below
Ok, so I am fat fuck (120kg, 189cm or 265lbs, 6'2) who wants to do something about his body, but has a hard time doing so. I've some questions and will be glad if /fit/ can answer them. I read Liam's intro and decided to try Starting Strength, but I'm afraid of gym and more so of barbell training. I already wasted some money on gym membership not working frequent enough (I was actually 1-2 times a month on gym having gym membership for last 4 months).
Having this said, I have following questions:
1. How can I get myself to go to gym (aka "stay motivated" to do so)? I know after I force myself to do it regularly for week or two I will get used to and probably after that like it.
2. How can I learn how to do barbell exercises properly? or
3. Can you recommend me some alternative dumbbell program?
4. How to determine starting weights to lift? (I yet have to read SS wiki and FAQ, so sorry if it's stupid question)
>>40617168
BUMP
>>40617168
Honestly you just have to keep going to the gym and that's the magic trick. Finding out your starting weight should be by starting with the bar doing 5 reps and keep adding 10 pounds or so until you feel comfortable or it's not too heavy but not too light and you can do 5 controlled reps. You can either check your form using YouTube videos and mirrors at the gym or ask a trainer there or person or friend if you have any. There are plenty of dumbbell exercises used as alternatives you can Google
>>40617168
1. Quit relying on motivation. I wake up at 5:30 every morning to work out, and the last thing I feel when it's dark outside and I'm tired is motivated. But I still go, because that's just what my lifestyle is.
2. Watch some YouTube videos, possibly read Starting Strength, and be critical of yourself. Look in the mirror, do what you have to do, and make damn sure your form is correct before adding weight.
3. I don't use barbells for things like bench and shoulder presses most of the time, because I like working out alone and don't like needing a spotter. If something calls for a barbell bench, I'll generally just use dumbbells. It's not a big deal, the same muscle groups are being worked. That being said, I still deadlift and squat with barbells, because why wouldn't I?
4. Trial and error.
Basically, just stop being a bitch and commit to it. It'll be strange at first, but it'll become a part of your life and you won't have to worry about it once you develop a system that works for you.
I'm excited for you; you're going to be glad you started getting healthier and you'll be proud of your progress when you see it.
Best of luck.

Wrong, I love the fact that the article is not very easy. Sometimes it takes forever to load but I have never been able to read the books I have. So you can actually see how much it does to make you feel like a better person.
What do you guys wear to the gym?
Judge my shit.
Inb4 basketball shorts, they're comfy.
>Nike Basketball Shorts
>Volleyball shorts for underwear
>New Balance running shoes
>Tshirt I got from running a 5k or a high school sports shirt I got from a thrift store
>black jujimufu pants
>some random tshirt i pick for the day
>adipowers
>pic related feel

Of course you're "inb4 basketball shorts," you created the thread. You're in before everything
I wouldn't expect a mongoloid who wears basketball shorts to understand though
>adidas shorts
>asics basketball shoes
>hanes boxer briefs
>a random shirt
