Anyone knows where to buy good quality high power leds? I need to replace the bulb on a few diving lights, pic related. The old bulb was running at maybe 14,4V? The batteries are dead but literature suggest so.
So I'd need a LED that can run at that voltage, with a reflector with approximately 62mm diameter. The original bulb was 50W so that is the max power I'd like to see on it.

Originally the lamp had three power levels
XV (~14?)
9,5V
4,5V

And the lamp has a internal cirquit that lowers the voltage as the battery discharges. I a perfect world I'd have a LED module that can acclimate to those voltages and lower its brightness but I realise it probably isn't realistic.

Im not going to replace the electronics on it. It's a diving torch so it has a nice integrated charging cirquit and can be charged without opening the torch.

Anyone into leds here?

Also, what is a reputable seller for batteries. It uses nimh 17650 cells so I'm looking for those (preferably in joirop). I usually buy from nkon.nl but they don't stock the 17650.

How do you separate the quality from the garbage. From where can one aquire quality shit instead some kind of 1000lumen shit?
>>
Are you quite sure it used 3 voltage levels?

It's far more likely it's PWM'ing the bulb, which would make life easier for the LED conversion.
>>
>>1233002
Yeah, it's probably pwm. But my multimeter sees it as a constant voltage. I was while measuring thinking about this and wondering how I'd find about if it's pwm or something else but I don't know how :/

Any hobby/professional welders on here?

Im really interested in welding and was thinking of picking up a cheap arc welder from harbor freight.

This is the one I was considering

Anyone have any tips on welding for a newbie?

I've got two of those and I like them, I can bring it up the ladder with me and if I drop it I'm not out much, however if this is going to be your primary welder look up and of the identical 200 amp dual voltage inverters on Amazon or eBay for around a hundred bucks. They work great and have some head room, plus you won't be out much if you don't like welding and you can easily sell the, for what you are into them or more on cl. Watch chucke2009 and welding tips and tricks, a lot of people have learned from those two

I need advice on how to make these things. They're circular plates of knight armor about 11 inches in diameter called besagews and it's difficult to find replicas being made, especially for something so simple. But I've never worked with metal before and want to make my own. I've already tried making some with some 16 gauge sheet metal and the results are crap. I've already been able to make the basic shape but hammering out those straight flower petal-like designs has me completely lost. Any advice on how to pull this off properly?

I am looking for some advice. I have done all the research I can and bought several sets of plans but they are all extremely dated i.e. calling for parts of a Model T car.

I am trying to build a sideshow Electric Chair. These are chairs or stools you can sit or stand on, turn on, and then when turned on light lightbulbs in your hands and lightly shock people. All I can gather is that I need a power source of some sort and a copper plate to make contact with. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. I can provide links to videos if anyone would like to see one.

These railings have so much built up paint and rust, I tried using a wire brush and chemical stripepr on one side, but its taking too long with too little results. I'm considering removing the rails and sending them out to get blasted and powdercoated. Do sandblasting companies also saw off the railing too, or will I have to find a different company to remove the railings? Am I going to have to pay a ton for both rails to be done (i'm in chicago, but close to the border of the city if that matters)

You may be able to find a place that will do soda blasting or dry ice blasting on site which would be cheaper than taking them for sandblasting. Call a few sandblast companies and see what they say. Putting them back on is the next fun part and it might be easier to get new rails when you factor in the cost of on site welding to put the old ones back up.

I started with fusion 360 yesterday. I had tried it before and gave up, being very frustrated with the performance and the work flow I had in general (dragging sliders had massive lag to it, probably because constraint evaluation was slow).
Now that I tried it again and went through a new set of tutorials it feels great. I can definitively see why everything is as it is and I'm not able to do everything I want yet but for models where I design them myself I can see it working out great.
I've read a little about blender type 3d modellers and cad style. People dislike that blender is a destructive modeller. My understanding of that is that you can't change things you started out with without a lot of work. In fusion 360 everything is linked up. So say you had a brick with a hole in it and you cut away half the brick. To change that in blender you might as well start over. In fusion 360 you just go change the thing that defines your hole and change it.
I think this is much more fit for engineering applications. But 3d artists use things like Maya and blender. So I'm guessing there's upsides to those. I don't see them right now. Depends on what you're gonna do, practical 3D structures or pretty figurines.

Insecticides alone don't work that well.

Anyone who leaves food accessible is contributing to the problem. Also leaky faucets and dampness make the problem a lot worse.

Always wash your dishes right away, keep ALL food in airtight containers, and wipe kitchen counters and dining table and sweep the kitchen floor every night. Don't eat outside the kitchen and dining room.

If you're doing all that then poisons can be used effectively.
>>
>>1222523
They come from sewers or any drainage channels which are overlooked. Chances are your apartment sewers are filling up with those. They breed and infest upper layers. Put bait near entrances, enclosed water meters near your apartment (any place that is damp and dark, where roaches like to hang around) and any storm drainage channels. Have pest control to treat the apartment, with neighbors.
>>
Building maintenance guy here, everything said so far is good advice. Another good measure is to seal around any holes where pipes come from the walls, under your bathroom and kitchen sinks. Also around radiator pipes coming up from the floorboards (if you have boiler heat), gaps between pieces of moulding all throughout the apartment, etc. Close up as many possible entry points as you can, basically

The concrete slab on my front porch is cracked and is leaking water into my basement. The foundation of the porch is actually a small room in my basement, and the slab is that room's ceiling. If I were to remove the slab and install a wood deck instead, what is the proper way to prevent water from infiltrating? I was thinking galvanized roof deck, but what else would work?
4 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If you're redoing the slab that in itself should stop it....but...you need to prevent water from running along the joints between ...assuming the picture pertains to this issue....slab and brick...you can just caulk the joints and most importantly...put a vapor barrier down before you place your concrete....roll or sheet plastic is fine...no large trash bags unless you tape up the joints and any punctures.
