Looking to install some hardy board where this shitty laminate shower is. I had some help installing the floor tile now I want a shower surround.

Should I go for larger tiles or smaller, and would a darker color look better?

lol where do you guys come from? hardie board is an exterior siding.

Seems a vapor barrier would be a good idea
>>
>>1228841
Hardie board is a brand name, often used shorthand referring to their cement backer board, just like duraroc.

When you mention a crescent wrench, most people know you mean an adjustable wrench, as opposed to pulling out every Crescent branded wrench in the catalog.

Hey guys
I'm here for some cool ideas. We had a mirror of about 4 quatermeters. Now it is broken and i want to turn it into some dope decor for my bedroom. Do you guys have any ideas? Not too complicated pls. I'm male btw, like football&rock music, and i'm gonna be a doctor
Thanks everyone

I'm not particularly toolsy, but hammering in screws seems like a bad idea. Should I:
>A. Follow the directions and go for it
>B. Pull out some nails and use those instead
>C. Pull out a drill, drill holes in the desk, and screw the screws in

it doesn't say screws in you picture.
typically these are panel pins
sometimes it comes with a little plastic thing for holding and spacing them properly.
did you lose them? are you sitting on them?

screws will annihilate whatever melamine veneered chipboard you are screwing into.

Trust me, I would have thought it was a weird idea too, but the picture is a screw and the bag with that number on it contains screws.

How difficult would it be to make my own wireframe glasses, like pic related?
11 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1228724
A lot more diffictult and expensive than just buying them
>>
>>1228744
How difficult? Would I need crazy specialized hardware, or could it be done by hand?

I think it would be nice to be able to make my own, and I'd be willing to put in the time for it.

As for cost, most of the glasses I'm looking at now are in the $500-600 price range.
>>
frames are very expensive, especially if you don't have insurance. I am also interested in this, wood would make an interesting material as well. Bump!

My power bill is way too damn high. ($200 per month in a 1000 sq ft house) I don't really have the money to do insulation, but what are some other good options? I slapped some new weather stripping on my doors and got a roll of thermal tape for the windows. Should I just go around my house caulking everything I can?

Turn everything off and go outside.

My roommates have a $200 bill to suffer every month because they don't go outside.
>>
>>1228717
In the summer the biggest power drain by far is the AC. Set it to 80, wear lighter clothing and use a small fan to circulate air instead of keeping it at 72 or even colder. Close the shades to prevent light from coming through the southern facing windows.

Set your appliances to power saving mode. i.e. don't keep your fridge on the coldest setting. if you have an electrc water heater double check its temperature setting.

and be energy smart. dont leave your shit turned on. turn off your computers when not in use, dont leave the tv on, and shut off lights when not in use.
>>
>>1228717

Highest power draws in summer are:

-central A/C
-clothes dryer
-stove/oven

assuming those last two are electric.

So basically, don't use those as often. Turning the A/C a few degrees hotter can reduce consumption by a huge amount, and using a fan almost makes up the difference in feel. Dry clothes to the point of being kind-of-dry-but-a-little-damp and hang them up. Cook food in bulk 1-2 times/week and then just microwave it or eat it cold.

Also if your area allows it look into alternate energy providers. Where I live you can choose the energy "retailer" (who generates the electricity) although the energy "delivery" (who maintains the grid) is set as one company. I lowered my electric bill by about 30% by switching to a different retailer.

You don't need a seal, you need to take that tile back out and put it in properly.

Hey /diy/, I've been meaning to make something like pic related but I'm not too sure where to start or how much it'll be since it's my first project. I don't have any tools but I'm sure that my local hardware store allows for renting them out. I already have the mini-fridge and a cheap cabinet from ikea to put it in. I'm looking forward to your advice!

mostly just wanna make this because I think it's cool.

looking up stuff on google didn't really net me any results either :/

Take the fridge put it in the cabinet and done?

What exactly do you need help with? Do you have measurements from the inside of the cabinet and the outside of the fridge?

1. Remove door hinges
2. Place on bottom of door
3. Fasten drawer faces to fridge door
4. Shot of black

Hey /diy/

I want to change the colour of blue parts of the pictured radio. I really like the radio, the features and aesthetics are great, but the blue doesn't match the interior. Looks kind of like a piece of thick clear plastic just glued on top of another piece of plastic, with the colour sandwhiched in between.

How would I go about doing this? Is it even possible? I'm guessing I would have to heat the piece up to soften the adhesive, then pry apart and repaint, but I'm really not too sure.

I think if your down for it you should be prepared for it to be ruined in the event it all goes wrong
Which from just plastic manufacturing companies is concerned
It's gonna go wrong but if you are okay with that go ahead dawg
Probs just adhesive pressed on and would probs take off with heat

Hey guys, im in the market to buy a new MIG welder. Ive already got a stick and tig machine, but im looking for something thatll let me tack easily and quickly. Thats really all I want out of it, Ill rarely be running full beads. Its way too big a pain in the ass to tack shit with stick/tig since alot of the sculptures and projects I work on have small, thin parts that are often at difficult angles. Id ideally like to spend no more than $500 as I really want this thing to finish a recent commission and I dont have much more available than that right now. Im willing to go as high as $650. What machine/gas can would you recommend me picking up? I had my eye on pic related, the Eastwood MIG 135.

Ill only be awake a few more minutes, gotta get some sleep before work. Ill check back on this thread in the morning.

Get this one, or some other cheap shit on Amazon. You don't need gas if you're just using it to tack. Hobart flux wire makes almost no spatter, and is relatively cheap. For $40 on Amazon you can get about twenty years worth of wire for tack welds.

So i bought an mbot robot kit, and it came with a bluetooth module. Im trying to use this to transmit music to a car stereo through aux cord.

I know how to power it through the vcc and gnd and all that. My question is what pin connections should i use in order to get the music out of it?

Google doesnt really have alot for this module and its already mounted on a pcb so im not sure the pins i need would even be accessible. I would love to get this to work but im not sure how to go about it. Would i just use the tx and common gnd?

Any help would be appreciated.

These modules aren't for the transmission of audio.

These bluetooth modules transmit the digital data over the air and send the information out through the TX and RX pins digitally. You need to have a motherboard with processor to convert that digital information out to analog audio. They can't output analog data.
>>
>>1228440
Dude thats for an arduino, the bitrate cannot make it up to the audio one. A bluethoot transmitter for the car doesnt cost more than 10 bucks poorfag

bought a 300 dollar coleman ct100u trail bike off the internet. The first day I rode it I could hear the chain popping or clicking/rattling and it felt somewhat loose to touch. I tightened it a cunthairs worth and fired it up, the masterlnk popped immediately and I couldnt find it Ordered a new masterlink, put it on. Popping issue kept happening for about an hour or so. Then the chain would come off if I turned at all. I tightened it all the way down at this point. Now it comes off If I give any throttle at all. I can pull the chain off the sprocket with my hand easily. I didnt add any length to the chain at all. I dont understand. Maybe I should just remove a link? idk

"popping" most likely a stretched and warn chain. Replace chain. If this still doesn't fix it. The chain sprockets are out of align.. Maybe missing a spacer or something on the rear axle.

But I'm betting more on a Fucking stretched chain.

Looks like mineral wool aka rockwool. Could also be a fiberglass/wool combo (real wool, like off of a sheep) that I have seen in houses of that vintage.

Any chances of it being contaminated with asbestos fibers?

I live next to a busy main road and I'm looking to put together some manner of plug that I can stick into my window to try and absorb the sound as much as possible (it's a rented property, so can't really make any permanent physical adjustments to the place). Anyone here done anything like this with any success? What would be the best material to use?

Pic is just one I grabbed off google.

Hang heavy as shit curtains, and a Oriental wall rug.

Go over all window trim, and seal any gaps with sealent. Good for noise, and energy loss.

Double pane windows help a lot too.
Wooden blinds help
Bushes along your outside wall help as well.
