If I want to set up some lettuce and peppers in a Kratky system in a spare closet, what are the potential concerns?
Also how do I get light to plants if they'll be on shelves? Can I only grow one level of plants?
I'll be growing them over the sump pump in the basement. That seems to make the most sense in the event of an accident and the water spilling. Any possible concerns there?
Any advice on right sized containers for broccoli, lettuce, tomatoes and peppers?
I've grown things successfully using this system outside with huge fuck-all totes and in the window with smaller ones, but with winter coming I want to keep the fresh plants coming as well.

why did you put that? why did you post a retarded pic to start your thread?
it's fine to be a pothead. but don't try to fool us.
>>1232559
Kayli pls fuck me(regardless of whether or not you have a dick)
>>1232559
Because this isn't the first time I've asked hydroponics help here and every time it turns into a pothead meetup.
so I'm working on pic related and it needs new belts, however replacement belts are like, 30$ for all of them. is there a way to DIY cassette belts? there's no way it's too complicated, just needs to be a belt that turns with no seam. what material should I DIY with? are there any guides to it that are more professional than rubber bands?
making vulcanized rubber belts isn't as easy as you thing it is.
>>1232249
use o-rings?
O ring kit.easy to craft belts any length.
I want to try making a dovetail joint. I've watched a couple hours of videos about how to make them, and for some reason my father has some Japanese chisels, a soft hammer, and a thin enough saw I think that's good enough.
But we don't have any scrap wood. If I go to a hardware store to buy wood, what kind should I get? I've never bought wood before and I'm clueless.
>>1232198
1x4, 1x6, whatever, spruce pine or fir, it'll be the cheapest. Or poplar. Don't buy expensive woods to practice on. Get nicer woods from a mill or hardwood dealer, not the hardware store. You'll find higher prices and lower quality at home depot.
>>1232202
Okay got it.
>>1232202
This
They sell them at most hardware stores.
You can make a dovetal box with it easily enough, dont buy the more expensive hardwoods just cheap stuff
Look for the S4S wood, its stuff thats been "surfaced all 4 sides" so it will be square enough for what you want to do.
Also try to find their odd sized cutoff wood. Youll find a whole section of scrap wood thats small and cheap, maybe youll find something suitable to play with
Hey all. I just bought a brand new pickguard for my bass guitar (pic) and want to have it painted in an original and special design. For this I asked a friend, who is really good for this kind of artistic things. I told her that if she wanted she could even make the design for it. She seemed pretty excited with the idea. Even though, I still think that I should still help her with some research or something. What do you guys think that would be the best for it? (Talking about colors, painting type, or even an artwork for her to base her design idk)

Bass without any pickguard on

I was going to shit on you, but now I can't.
Get a paint that's you can thin, and dries hard. The acrylic paints used for model cars is probably a good choice, and the proper brush. Test it on the back of the guard, some solvents(like those found in paints) can melt some plastics. You'll want to clear coat it. Get a test piece and use the paint on it. After the proper dry time use your clear coat choice and make sure it doesn't make the paint bubble, melt, flake, or otherwise get messed up. Also, check the clear coat on the back of the pickguard. You'll want to use an aerosol if you don't have a paint gun or air brush, and I've seen a couple of aerosol clear coats with acetone in them(will melt plastic). Spray it in a dust free area.
Anyone ever make homemade alcohol before? This is about 3 1/2 days old. about a gallon of water, 3 big cups of sugar, 2 cups of brown sugar, regular baking yeast (instant yeast), a few cut up cherries and a vitamin B pill for nutrients for the yeast. Any idea how strong the alcohol will be and if it'll taste reasonable? Not going for world class taste obviously. lemme know
>>1214205
We already have a thread for this.
You killed a thread for this.
>brown sugar, white sugar
it's going to taste like shitty watered down white rum, *if* you can get rid of the yeast taste
to reduce/remove the yeasty flavor without extra shit:
decant or siphon it when it stops bubbling. let it sit in the vessel until it clarifies. decant or siphon it again. keep doing this until there's no sludge on the bottom.
also bread yeast is shit. get some champaign yeast off amazon, shit's like a dollar a packet and a packet is good for 5 gallons
>>1232130
Nope. Nobody never has made alcohol at home.
I wanted to build a bot to help me buy supreme, but recently they implemented a captcha on the website.Where can I learn to code to bypass it, or if you have any helpful suggestions that would be very appreciated.
Catcha is literally designed to prevent what you're trying to do.
There is no easy way to bypass it with a bot or else it would be completely pointless.
There are ways to do it in software, but they are not reliable. Better to hire an Indian to answer Catchas for you.

There are some services online that offer captcha solving at a relatively low price. They just have a bunch of people constantly solving captchas. Look for captcha farms or captcha solving services or just automate the whole process except the captcha solving itself and do it yourself.
can mexican car audio shake the air bubbles out of concrete instead of using a hammer/shaker table?
>>1231946
Check how much power a vibrate uses vs car audio. Car will also be on shocks so account for that.
>>1231946
Probably. Hell it might even work better. But i think your supposed to stop vibrating on it to dry. So keep the sweet tuba jams to a minimum after the initial 6 alternator shakedown bro

Dude, spl alone just pointed near the same direction.
I'm fixing up an old korean strat
I need help with the electronics if anyone knows how this shit works.
I'm switching a dead old school 5 way switch with one of the new CPL one and cant make heads nor tails of these schematics
>>1231941
This is what I'm working with
>>1231942
Logically i should be moving towards something like this but the current setup is not at all similar
Peculiar. Do you have a multimeter? Check restance from the end of a pickup wire to that pickups metal base plate.
I want to make these Bluetooth earbuds waterproof, or at least water resistant (something close to the IP65 or IP66 rating), and I was thinking about sealing the casing with a non conductive superglue and finishing off with some isolating tape on some parts. My main concern is the lithium battery, maybe I'll wrap it up with isolating tape.
Is this a good plan? Do non conductive glues even exist? What can I do with the part where the sound comes out? Should I just rely on the rubber thing to isolate water from it? I'm not really a DIY project kind of guy, so any help is appreciated.
Also sorry for my bad English, I'm not a native English speaker.
A little closer
Spray the circuit boards with conformal coating put it together, then spray the outside with conformal coating. You can fill the inside with petroleum jelly but it might wreck the acoustics.
The ear hole can be covered with a small piece of very thin waterproof fabric, ideally something like goretex, but other materials are possible too, just not as good. It will definitely sound muffled.
Unless you really need it to be able to be submerged in water I wouldn't cover the ear hole. Water shouldn't be able to get in there while you're wearing it unless you actually dunk your head underwater.
>>1231907
Thanks a lot. Yeah, I just wanna use them under heavy rain without fear of them shorting out in my ears.
What about sealing the casing with superglue and wrapping up the electronics in duct tape? Would that work?
Don't know if gardening is really relevant to this board but it seemed most fitting so I thought I'd ask
My girlfriend really likes pic-related roses, and I wanted to try growing a bush of them but I can't seem to find a name, let alone any seeds or bulbs for them. Is this a cross between two flowers, is it a specific breed? Any help is appreciated
>>1231835
Go to growmen on /out/
>>1231835
That's a somewhat common color pattern shared with a few cultivars.
Roses are not like most plants- when you cross two types, the offspring is generally unlike either parent.
Look at:
>Peace
>Love&Peace
>Kordes Perfecta
"Kordes" is actually an award/title from a German horticultural society, if a rose has passed that certification its usually included in the retail name because its quite prestigious.
>>1231835
They had some of these at a local Lowe's last season, here's a picture of the tag. Gf wanted one but they got bought up too fast.
So I picked up this old Dunhill service lighter, and I'm wondering how to go about removing the corrosion and mostly worn off paint without damaging anything.
1. Should I even restore it, or leave it as is for "historical value" (lighter is functional btw)
2. Should I repaint it in the original paint, or just polish the metal up?
farts
>>1231832
don't you fucking dare take anything to that patina. Oil it up and get it running again, but for the love of god and the memory of those who fought for the (((allies))) DO NOT clean that surface up. just free up any cooroded mechanisms.
>>1231900
this
oil or wax to preserve the patina, use it
dont be a faggot OP
So yesterday I had a power blackout. And since then, my fridge, oven, electric cooker and cooking hood are rip. The outlets work when I plug in my charger. Are all my appliances fucked? Is it maybe just the fuse I can replace?
>>1231799
Not enough information. Verify the outlets with a lamp as well.
Look up owner's manuals for each unit
You should be able to find fuses in the index, if there's no index look for a troubleshooting page.
>>1231814
Also, make sure all gfci's are reset if applicable. Power surge can ruin anythong plugged into the wall. Next tine shut off all breakers in your house except for a single light so you'll know when piwer comes back on.
This is a troll thread, everyone knows this has never happened and you do not need fuses in appliances.
is this an exploded capacitor? I'm familiar with exploded bigger ones, but im not sure about these tiny ones.
The circuit is from a crappy multimeter that has being given me fluctuating readings in a while.
>>1231789
>is this an exploded capacitor?
Is what and exploded capacitor?
>three pics with nothing pointed out or described
If you're referring to the black blob, that's the brain of the unit with epoxy covering it.
So, I have these lush retaining walls in my back yard. They are multiple tonne sandstone blocks.
You can see that they have nice returns.
However, on the other side of the walls there are no returns. That's thanks to a builder who took off.
That side is where the walls say hello to a soon to be in place fence.
What's the best way to retain the side that meets the fence? Should I drop some steel bars into the sandstone foundation and frame up to make a concrete ending that I can semi bury??
I'll drop some images so we can think because I've been thinking too much.
Fence line.
"lush" - are you Welsh? I thought only we used that word these days.
>>1231817
good to see that I'm not the only Welshman on /diy/
The cheapo eclipse glasses apparently have expiration dates, I believe it's 3 years? it may have to due with the amount of light exposure?
Do welding lenses loose effectiveness over time? does it depend on how often they're used?
I'd be looking to order some in the future, in advance of the next eclipse....and maybe extra to flip
>>1231622
>welding lenses loose effectiveness over time
If they are glass they won't lose effectiveness. If they are plastic or polycarbonate or are coated, then most likely
Also you have to protect either one from damage from like scratches, etc..
The next solar eclipse is in 2024 and will be like in the eastern part of the US
>>1231702
I'm hoping to make a short trip to get closer to the path...day into very slightly less bright day is not nearly as interesting as day into night
I don't plan on actually using the lenses for anything else (welding), so keeping them clean shouldn't be a problem
sure, I could just get a pair of paper glasses before the next one, but if I'm going to put out a couple bucks anyway, I might as well get something a bit sturdier/versatile for making a ghetto helmet and or snapping some photos
>>1231709
>a bit sturdier/versatile for snapping some photos
They call that a neutral density filter. Available at almost any camera shop.
