My vote goes to Road Rash 3.

For soundtrack, sure, but 2 is better.

Deathtra- no wait, that IS polygonal!
F-zero. I wish I had had a DOS clone of that, like wacky wheels, hell, it could even have been based on the same engine! Lotus 3 was the most memorable one I've played, I know it was popular, it had good atmosphere, I did like it better than wacky wheels, but that's not saying that much. What a waste, beavis soft should have licensed the WW engine and at least let someone else make a proper racting game that's actually high speed.
I'll say megarace, though it was barely racing.
Gotta go with Rock N' Roll Racing
Good times with me and my bro.
Say 1 positive thing about Final Fantasy 8 without lying.
The garden things at the beginning are comfy as fuck

I like this song.

I'm going with Sega CD. At least 32X got some fucking awesome AM2 ports, and a decent version of DOOM.
Mega Adapter/Power Base Converter
Can't even play Gamegear games.
Master System games: 341
Sega CD games: 209
32x games: 40

>Sega CD games: 209
90% of those are shitty FMV games and generic JRPG's, though.

She thinks it's just my thing. She buys retro March for me and my wife (one of us shares the name of an old retro company, so she usually gets their stuff)
>>3460714
Yeah, I dated a Taito back in high school, she was a lot of fun.

I still go thrift shopping once in a while with my mom.
The really "granny" thrift stores tend to have an unpicked through media section.
So, does /vr/ like soccer?
>>3459723
ahh, Fighting Eleven. I used to do some ridiculous shit in that game. Also there is a cheat code for changing the referee into a dog.
>My old romhack copy isn't working anymore
>Buy an original
>It just isn't the same without forte bomba
>able to do kick ups
>coin toss to decide sides
>sometimes hitting photographers with long shots
>jerking rivals with X+A
The small things.
>>3459738
It's the Konami code, and there's also one for unlocking the All Star teams.
Also, no dog ref in ISS 64, but it gives the players giant heads. I miss this kind of silly shit in soccer games nowadays.
Tetris named best game of all time by Time magazine:
http://time.com/4458554/best-video-games-all-time/
Here are the top 10:

3 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
4 Doom
5 Ms. Pac-Man
6 Minecraft
7 The Legend of Zelda
8 Super Mario Bros.
9 The Oregon Trail
10 World of Warcraft
As you can see, only 2 games of the top 10 aren't /vr/.
>Tetris as no. 01, this list will be taken seriously
>>3457582
>Minecraft
Hey at least it wasn't Candy Crush.
>>3457582
>old nintendo shit all over the list
>minecraft
who gets paid to make these lists?
Is there a more aesthetic retro game?
Aesthetic isn't a concrete adjective.

Pure kino
fun fact: slow down ecco: tides of time music, add more reverb, get vaporwave.
Oftentimes people will compare ports between platforms of comparable power but rarely does anyone examine the ports to less powerful platforms. It seems obvious, why would anyone ever bother with those over the more technically impressive versions. However that's not to say they aren't good or even impressive in their own right such as 8-bit Sonic, Ecco or SoR, the NES port of KQV, those sorts of things. So I think it would be fascinating for us to discuss downgrade ports that we enjoy and why.

Most of those were master system games originally though, which the game gear's hardware is based on.

Interestingly actually the SMS version of Streets of Rage 1 & 2 aren't straight ports to the GG with slight adjustments to the colour & resolution. I think both 1 & 2 were built from the ground up for their respective hardware with different graphics, music and even levels included in one but then not the other. Here look at the SMS version by comparison to the vid the OP...

This is a good thread OP.
I LOVED the game gear port of Samurai Shodown when I was growing up. My friend had a Game Gear and lent it to me a bunch of times. I loved the Neo Geo version at the arcades, but really liked this home port the best. One friend got the SNES version and it wasn't that great (the Genesis one was pretty good though).
I don't know what it was but the Game Gear one was just a bunch of fun. I also loved the Game Boy Mortal Kombat 1 port . It was stupid fun playing as goro with the cheat code and the chiptune music was great.
Since every Neo Geo Port before the Saturn was a downgrade, which games were ported that people like on other consoles? World Heroes 2 on SNES was really good - just more balanced and fun to play.
I wish I could live in Dream Forest. It's so peaceful and beautiful.
A spaceship mobile comfy home in space quest looks cool
>not doubling the town's population by knocking up the Cucco Ladythose allergy genes though

I can't believe this shit.
So apparently Gearbox's new version of Duke Nukem 3D will be out in a week. It will include a "new episode".

That first screenshot is definitely the worst, everything is just so wrong about it, but even then everything here screams "shitty mid 90's mod".
There is no art direction whatsoever, it's like those shitty fan mods that take textures from many different games and put them together; all with badly done weapon reskins and alt-palette "new enemies".
But the worst part? Their "dynamic lights", which they ripped off from EDuke32 but re-built from the ground up to avoid paying royalities, just like their 3D renderer.
this game makes no sense
It represents the illogical nature of dreams.
It's a game about the concept of entities living amongst the collective subconscious dreamscape existing between human minds (like a being that somehow consists of only electromagnetic wave patterns and can only live in the human brain). A malicious entity uses nightmares to cause psychosomatic illnesses in humans in order to feed off of their negative emotions which sustain it's existence. NiGHTS is a particular dream entity of the same general type that happens to feed specifically off of the feeling of "courage" which takes the form of red "ideya" which is a made up word for those floating colored balls that come out of the heroes. Using courage and joining together with NiGHTS you reclaim other stolen facets of the ego like hope or intelligence, and regain the ability to self actualize and confront your inner fears.
Integral to the plot is the idea that courage was the only trait that couldn't be stolen, so even in the depths of depression and anxiety you could still come back if you brought forth courage from within yourself.

I want to cum inside Nights.
emulators can be retro too
this ran surprisingly well on genecyst
Hay guise, what's going on in this thread??
Thread for retro wrestling vidya. What are the best /vr/ era pro-wrestling video games? The most obvious ones to me are the SmackDown! -games because of their fantastic custom wrestler creation system and season modes. I always loved to play season/career mode with my own wrestlers, it was just like in TV.
Are the WCW games on N64 any good? Or the ECW games on DreamCast?
Oh, and of course Wrestlemania Arcade
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tod0bLkbZaA
The noisiest game ever made. There is just so much shit going on at the same time.
THQ/AKI are goat
NWO World Tour
Wrestlemania 2000
No Mercy
NWO Revenge
Virtual Pro Wrestling 2
From worst(not bad, just most limited) to best.
Virtual Pro 2 will mainly appeal to to Japanese wrestling fans, but it has a few Americans that spent time in Japan. You can play a with Kobashi, Misawa, Taue, Stan Hansen, Hayabusa, Great Sausake, Tiger Mask, Vader, Kamala, UltimoDragon, Great Muta, Terry Funk, Andre the Giant, Dr. Death Steve Williams, and I could go on.
If you play wrestling games for gimmick matches you'll be disappointed, you can still grab weapons from the crowd but in Japan weapon use is very uncommon aside from a couple companies.
But Virtual Pro gets me because it's got a huge roster, cool CAW mode, huge move list with a lot of signature moves(even from wrestlers not in the game), and it does feel like Japanese wrestling. Lots of suplexes, stiff strikes, and submissions.
Oh, are you a fan of MMA? You can select some MMA fighters already in game or make your own, drastically changing the play style.
All those games are good, probably my favorite reversal and special systems in any game
Next I'd say the Fire Pro games, they're super in depth and the most challenging to master. Button mashing will definitely make you lose. The not retro one is my favorite but they're all good. It's really about pacing, you normally can't do big moves until you wear your opponent down, just because it's an automatic reversal. They also have some ridiculous moves, like a suplex where you do a do a backflip and drop your opponent of their head.
Then the smack down games, but again it's the second non retro one that's my favorite. I just say this because it was the best WWF series besides WM2K/NM
>>3439871
Will smackdown 2 work on my ps3?
Would you a Youtube channel where I ironman ghost through the series in 1080p 60fps?
Also ITT: Thief. I don't have the standard OP pasta with the relevant links to FM stuff and various taff. I'll try to find it but someone else is welcome to post it.

Deadly Shadows is NOT RETRO.

Close enough.
Do taffers think this design looks stupid? Should bugbeasts look more like horrific demons than humanoid aliens?
