My vote goes to Road Rash 3.
>>
>>3462353
For soundtrack, sure, but 2 is better.
>>
>>3462353
Deathtra- no wait, that IS polygonal!

F-zero. I wish I had had a DOS clone of that, like wacky wheels, hell, it could even have been based on the same engine! Lotus 3 was the most memorable one I've played, I know it was popular, it had good atmosphere, I did like it better than wacky wheels, but that's not saying that much. What a waste, beavis soft should have licensed the WW engine and at least let someone else make a proper racting game that's actually high speed.

I'll say megarace, though it was barely racing.

Super Monaco GP on arcade is short and intense, love every race. Love Genesis version also, but the cabinet version blows it awayWET CONDITION

>>3462353
I am in agreement with >>3462431 for F-Zero being my vote.

Runners up include Super Mario Kart, Power Drift, Kingdom Grand Prix, and ESPN/ESPN2 Xtreme Games

that's off the top of my head, there may be others I loved, but I will remember later.
>>

Skunny Kart hater detected.

Not that poster, but holy shit! I had forgotten about that game. Now I remember its shitty shareware platformer titles too! Not often I forget about a game I've played.
>>
>>3462878
Is that the game where a team is called Firenze?
>>
>>3462889
Not a racing game. Even Yuji himself said so.

Rad Racer 1/2, ofcourse.
World Rally Fever, for a nice Drift Out clone on DOS.
Street Racer (SNES), feels like a combination of Mario Kart and Road Rash. Probably the best looking mode7 game.
Lamborghini American Challenge is nice. Plays very much like the Lotus series.
World Rally 1/2, top down rally games.

Well, what do you expect? It was a ripoff of an imitation. And I gave solid reason for scoffing right up there. Besides, 2d-ish racing games were rather lousy.

Not that SK didn't draw me in, but like Lotus 3, it was kind mundane except the music...

Yeah, in the MD version. Love those fake driver and team names. RIP, G. CearĂ¡. ;_;7

As an almost retro post, there's a hack of F1 Challenge 99 - 02 based on Super Monaco GP cars, that's probably how the game worked in my imagination when I was a kid.

Whoa, that looks almost F-zero 1.5-ish!

I'm baffled as to how it's supposed to be like drift out.

Not until GX was made, at least.
>>
>>3463506
They're all good. One existing doesn't suddenly make another not good. F-zero X was the first I played and it had me enthralled. I played F-Zero GX and it was great as well, dunno if it was better than F-zero X. I've never been a big fan of F-Zero on the SNES or GBA, but they're good. So put away your fanboy game ffs, are you 5 years old that noone is allowed to enjoy other games.
>>
>>3463493
I'm dumb, I'm dumb. It's like Power Drift. All sprites n shit. World Rally is like Drift Out though, now that I think about it.
But I do not really see F-Zero. Maybe F-Zero X, but not mode7 F-zero.

Yeah, it does seem more like F-zero X, but with 16-bit equivalent graphics.

Anyway, I'd be thorn between OutRun and F-Zero. I guess I'll go with OutRun for arcades and F-Zero for consoles.

Cool Riders is probably the one with the most impressive sprite graphics. But I'll always love Super Hang-on the most.

stages were polygonal in that.

>>3462353
Road Rash 2 was better than 3. 3 tried to have more photorealistic graphics, which look crap.
>>
>>3465215
>>3467542
Played the fucking shit out of those in 2P splitscreen, good times.

>>3463405
Loved Super Monaco (on Genesis), thought the cars sounded kickass.

>>3462849
That was Radical Psycho Machine Racing here, fun as fuck.

>>3467830
3D0 Road Rash best Road Rash.

I didn't get into F-zero/outrun/cruisinUSA as much. Gonna mention Ivan stewarts off road, not as fave, but as good.

Fave was F1 ROC on SNES. Not entirely sure why in retrospect. 2P championship was possible, and you could tune/adjust the cars pretty well.
