I think I agree. I think it was just the first video game world I experienced that truly felt alive. Like it would still move and function even if I (the hero) wasn't there. Everyone in the land had distinct personalities and jobs to do. Even in modern, open world, AAA titles you don't always get that.

I would gladly grab me some tools and go to town on this baby after buying it for what I'm assuming would be lunch money because nobody would want it. Get some high beams going on, maybe a proper terrace and a patio, set up a bedroom in the attic, make a proper yard, the works. I'd probably spend a small fortune getting it up to snuff, but to me there's nothing more satisfying than some good old woodwork and the joy that seeing and old building revived brings. I'd get me some animals and plant some greens and I'd be happy as a clam. Beautiful view, golden beaches only five minutes away, fresh air and all the quiet in the world.

No, not even then. Legend and Revenge are a consistent and complete story. Curse was already shit as a Monkey Island game. Maybe good as a game, I don't know, but shitting on the original games like that, didn't sit well with me.
Legend and Revenge use a semi-realistic style. All this cartoon junk does not work on these games. Half of the fun of the games was that they looked "serious" at a glance, but were hilarious when playing them. The style of Curse and the remake just scream "I look funny, because I'm funny, get it?! Get it?!?! You don't seem intelligent, so I will hammer this point home, choking any style and subtlety the original might have had! Laugh, dammit! Laugh!!"
