Does anyone here play on project1999?

I wish the red server had more people.
138 posts and 11 images submitted.
>>
one guild rules the server
if you are not twinked you do not level due to the age of the server
was great for the first two years of the servers life with vanilla and kunark and stuff but after 5 years of kunark and a year of velious I got my fill of "the classic" experience
>>
Wouldn't even call it classic, anyways. One of the things about classic was that you never knew how things were going to change from one patch to the next. Everyone knows everything about P99 and exactly what the state of endgame will be once it goes on maintenance mode.

A custom server that diverged from classic in a believable way would be way better. No one's going to put that much effort into making custom content for EQ, though.
>>
>>3414483
Actually, funny you mention that. You guys should check out Project Sanctuary. It's a newly made MMO using the EQ engine.

http://www.playsanctuary.com/

The website could do with some polish but it's a really neat project and everyone is incredibly friendly, it has a very heavy emphasis on crafting though, so if you abhor crafting I wouldn't bother.

Research is king. Get the Supercomputer, and out-research everyone else. What you don't get normally, you can trade for.
As handy as they may seem, don't get into alliances. No one but you should determine when/if you go to war, and the AI is retarded on that front anyway. Non-aggression pacts and Trade treaties are fine, but since your focus is on research, research treaties are also a bad idea.

Those are the big points, most everything else depends on your own particular playstyle.

Much appreciated. Is it better to turn on tactical combat now and learn how to do it along general empire management?

Also I noticed when I based my custom race picture on the bird people my ship names changed but it was hard to tell if there was a stat difference 30 turns in (I like playing pre-warp, great for setting up a solid foundation before you meet a militant race)
>>
I like taking subterranean to boost my population on all the planets I colonize, but yes research is king, in tactical battle do not skimp on targeting computers if you are even thinking of using beam weapons or you won't hit shit unless things are right in your face.

Hey /vr/ Is Warriors of Might and Magic worth the buy. I have some money left over should I buy it? Thanks in advance.

No body cares.

Everyone screams "Preservation!" but some stuff just isn't worth preserving.

I knew in my head that it was just some shitty diagnostics disc or or test disc or even just empty data waiting to be written.

The liklihood of finding a prototype is like 0%.

I am trying to find any games that are like the Myst series, first person puzzle gameplay in rich atmospheric environments with great story. These games can be both older or more modern. They don't even need to be puzzles, just anything that has the same feel/vibe.

Check out a game called lunacy on the sega saturn. Has some good atmosphere and a god tier soundtrack. Kinda short though.
>>
Obsidian is a great old game. It's like Myst with crazy dream-like puzzles.

Shivers is a great old spooky game. It has similar graphics to Myst, and similar puzzles. Here is a song from the game: youtu.be/dxaOYyqFCZc

I like Shivers 2 as well, but I've seen people complain about how different it was. It's a fair complaint, but I still like it. I love the atmosphere. They're both pretty cheesey though.

You might want to try the Journeyman Project games, they're old sci-fi games about time travel.

There's an old fever dream of a game called Gadget. It's more of an interactive story, since you're just walking and interacting with things to progress the story.

Also maybe you know but Cyan just released a spiritual sequel to Myst called Obduction. Also one of the artists of Myst recently kickstarted a game called Zed.

What about you OP? Do you know of any other games that you recommend?

I was 11 or 12, one day my dad bought me two new games for the PC, one of them was Zork Nemesis:
>comes with an "encyclopedia" full of weird stuff
>game is creepy as fuck, not scary, just creepy
This scared the shit out of me back then:
https://youtu.be/gWBnaTUcSKk?t=2m39s

Got too spooked and decided to give up on it and try the other one.
It was Bad Mojo.

If anyone's interested: the remake of the classic Castle of Illusion is now heavily discounted on Steam (1.94 euro in Europe) and most platforms. It disappears from all the digital platforms forever sometime tomorrow, as Sega probably didn't renew the license, so it's the last chance to get it. It's also the last game to be made by Sega of Australia before the studio's closure.

Did you play on NES? The remakes have a fifth chapter that gives you more backstory on Psaro, its worth playing it.

Hey, /vr/ I know this will sound really stupid but,
I just got a Sega Genesis model 2, and I was curious about certain things, for one, does it output in stereo? Because I have it plugged into the coaxial on my TV and so far sound is only coming out of the right speaker. Second, on my TV the coaxial port has notches on it for the coaxial to be screwed onto the TV, however the genesis has no such way as far as I know so I just plugged it straight onto the coaxial, is this going to damage it in any way? I know it sounds stupid but I want to be sure. also lastly, does the model 2 have region locking? I've read conflicting things about being able to fit Japanese cartridges in so I thought It'd be smart to make sure.

>>
All Genesis 2/MD2 motherboards support stereo output, so there's either something wrong with the cable or your receiver's settings.
>>
>>3468016
Shit, do you think it could be the thing I mentioned before or would that not be it?
>>
>>3467996
Yes the MD2 outputs stereo but is probably only mono via RF connection, you really want to be using RGB or mod it for s-video. Composite is okay at a push, depending on the motherboard revision you may get jailbars on the picture. Post a pic of the entire underside of the console and I could better advise what your options are and how to achieve them.

I'm in yurop and we use push fit RF aerial connections over here. I'd imagine it's not an issue though.

Region modding is really easy on these. Again post a pic of the underside and I'll run through your options.

have starcraft aged well visually? personally i think it still has a good art style (i like the grit and gloom) but since i played it when it came out i feel like i'm biased.

It ages horribly. I have to get a new CD every few years since disk rot keeps ruining the graphics.
>>
>>3467537
for a game from 1998 (nearly twenty years ago), I'd say it looks pretty good
>>

there's mass recall now, its a pretty good remake of all SCBW, precursor and Stukov campaigns

They don't get in the way of your understanding, some of them are just a little nonsensical. You can still understand it within the context. I think there was a wrong value here and there too.

The old translation wasn't unplayable, it's just card effects were squished down and confusing.
