Why did you have to hold the reset button before powering off a NES for data to be properly saved?
RAM mechanics I suppose.
>>3604248
It prevented a potential short circuit, I think, which would wipe your battery save
It help prevent voltage spikes to the cartage that could wipe the battery backup memory.
The NES originally was never designed to be electronically safe for battery backups, it was something added to game carts a few years later.
How much could I get for original mega man 8?
X4
X5
X6
All in great condition no scratches with their respective booklets.
Just lost my job and gotta pay the bills somehow.
Also got gran turismo 2
Resident evil
Ff7
And ff8
All in original (black label on side)
Just noticed mm6 for nes is going at 50$
And legends 2 for 55$
So let's say 50$ average per game
Not bad
Does this look like eBay to you?
>tfw Chemical Plant zone's music hits
What do you mean?
>>3603440
he means when Chemical Plant zone's music hits him
>>3603440
It's audio domestic abuse, a sad thing. ;_;
This game is criminally underrated.
It's the beautiful flawed bastard blend of baldur's gate and the original diablo. It's crueler to the player and the characters than either one.
Don't use the totally broken skills and the difficulty curve is solid.
Absolutely a must play.
if you can get it to run.
if the main quest doesn't break on you.
>>3602846
>if you can get it to run.
This. Old PC games are a fucking nightmare to run these days.
>>3602918
this game in particular was buggy as hell at launch.
The wizards at GoG have done their best but I still get loads of freezes. Luckily the game lets you make game ruining gameplay mistakes every twenty minutes so you're already spamming quicksave
Any reason I should take Lord over a Valkyrie? Duel wielding early bonus aside.
>>3602584
Valkyries are better, especially in Wizardry 6 if you plan on carrying a party across 6-8
>>3602593
Ah, I'm just asking for Wiz 8.
So do we have the numbers relating to weapon weight and their swing penalties? I've read some posts that says the heavier your weapon, the less swings you get. No sources or numbers, though.
Kinda odd that Wiz 8 doesn't have much sources on the internet about its mechanics.

Why is this video game so fucking good? A licensed game has no right!
>>3602323
Also, I love retroarch and it's shaders and overlays!
>>3602325
It is overlays indeed.
>>3602323
Overlays are gross to be honest. I also have no idea why anyone would add a filter to have those black borders when I spend 30 minutes adjusting my CRT monitor to diminish that effect.
>the second level switches to a top-down view
>the shoulder buttons are used to turn
>the jump button now makes you crouch
What were they thinking? Literally the most unintuitive gimmick level in classic Contra. It even looks like shit.
>use L and R to turn around
>unintuitive
You might have cognitive problems.
>>3601942
Yeah it is when you're looking at your guy from above. Compared to for example turning with the d-pad (like in any sensibly designed top-down shooter) and maybe using the shoulder buttons to lock your aim in one direction and sidestep. They already got it right in Super C.
It was pretty impressive for its day. Maybe it's a problem if you're playing shared screen co-op (can't remember if it was Mode A or B), but I never had an issue in single-player or split-screen co-op.
Remake is apparently happening?
>>>/v/356922010
*another

When was the last time a remake was actually good?
>>3602035
Duck Tales Remastered?
What's your favorite Dungeon Crawler / Dungeon RPG?
What are the essentials?
Stygian Abyss, 'cause that's the only one I've ever played.
... Well, if you don't count a shitstain by the name of "Death Watch"
>>3601841
Wizardry and Might&Magic series are both essential. Some other good onesbare Ultima Underworld 1 and 2, Eye of then Beholder 2, Dungeon Master
>>3601841
This.
My Crash Bandicoot 2 keeps freezing on a white screen between levels. How do I fix this?
With toothpaste. Alternatively, use a backup disc.
>>3601638
Toothpaste? Isn't that just a playground myth?
>>3601641
No. You can go to a video shop if you want it cleaned, but toothpaste works fine.
Any reason to bother with an Everdrive N8 over just emulating in 240p via Wii? I went the flashcart route with SNES and Genesis/MD, but that's because both of those consoles natively support RGB. Why bother with a $100 cart for an NES when I need to spend $100 to RGB mod it as well, when I can get YpBpR quality output with (if I'm to be believed) more or less cycle accurate emulation via Wii?
Anything I'm not seeing?
Buy the Wii.
NES VC is kinda dark and muddy, even in 240p.
>>3601326
Emulation /= VC
What defunct development studio do you miss the most, /vr/?
Probably LucasArts, though they didn't put out much I really loved after, say, Jedi Academy. I always thought the Battlefront games were overrated and boring, for example.
>>3600673
Raven Software made Jedi Academy/Outcast, not LucasArts.

>Unlike knockoffs and clones, the Mega Drive Limited Edition is officially licensed from Sega. While the audio/video performance specs aren’t beefed up over those of the original in any way, the Mega Drive Limited Edition does come with 22 games, including Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Shinobi 3, and Arrow Flash, preloaded into its internal memory. There’s also a Micro SD slot for playing stored ROMs plus the good old cartridge slot.

What do you guys think?
>composite video out
>micro sd slot
>original hardware so it can play carts and use original controllers
Seems like a convenient way to play Mega Drive games, although it's kind of expensive imo. My Model 1 Genesis was around US$20.
> it's just Tec Toy again
>>3600164
>>composite video out
Fuck me, I confused composite with component.
A record, a favourite sequence, a glitch, whatever you want.
I'll start with my highest score in this game.
The only retro screenshot I have is the clear screen from Panzer Dragoon Saga that I took a picture of for some reason.
Arcade DK score from an old score thread on /vr/.
Ado in Mario paint on 5in crt
>"WELL? ARE YOU A MAN OR...?"
"I will fight!"
>>3599897
>Fight
>Pick up Brad's wallet
>enter police station
That's how it's done.
Seriously though, this fight is actually the hardest Nemesis fight in the entire game. All you have is the shotgun and the basic handgun, AND the shotgun is absolute shit against him, its the huge down time after a shot means you're very likely to get hit.
Plus, there aren't many herbs at this point of the game yet.
So the best solution is to use the handgun and be patient. Stay at a mid range distance, shoot 2-3 bulelts, run a little to stay at mid range distance and repeat.
If you do it well he'll never rush towards you, but if he does, dodge by turning in the direction of his "non hitting arm".
>>3599906
By which he means his right arm.
