Justify this
Probably because of all the Youtube memes. It's still not right though.

Is it normal that scan lines cause dizzyness like the optical illusion?
Do real CRT PVMs have the same eye strain like this CRT shader?
>>3588160
>i'm too young to stand CRTs - the thread
no really, who cares? Being born in the early 80s i i've grown up with CRTs and i still use them without any problems. Well i also grew up during the cold war and Chernobyl but i'm still alive - you know what i mean? Don't be such a puss.
Scanlines are a bullshit perception of CRTs anyway. I've seen plenty of CRTs move through my household over my life and not a single one of them had 'em.
>>3588228
That's because they are mostly blended on consumer CRTs. They're only as thick as they are on PVMs and other such CRTs.

I never realized that Onett is essentially cut off from the rest of the world. At least Twoson, Threed, and Fourside are all connected by a road.

Your favorite game, instead of how it currently exists, was instead released as a SuperFX game on SNES in 1994 in all of its basic untextured polygonal glory
How is it
It's shit.
It looks worse than the first Air Combat and with a worse frame-rate to boot. I want out of this timeline.

Hey /vr/ I'm interested in picking up a sega console since I've never owned one before and am trying to decide between the Saturn and the Dreamcast. Money isn't that big of an issue and I'm leaning towards the Saturn just because it has more RPGs and 2d platformers, however not having access to Sakura Taisen 3 and 4 hurts. Which console would you recommend and why? Sell me on your favorite /vr/

>Money isn't that big of an issue
Not like either are expensive but buy both. They're worth it.
>>3573258
I meant that more for games, though I guess each does have a few pricey games. Overall neither really seems all that bad price wise. I have other consoles I buy games for so I don't want to have to buy for both right off the bat and I don't feel like killing my laser with burnt copies.
>>3573263
Killing the laser with burned discs is a meme. I've never seen any actual evidence that they wear out lasers more than regular games. The quality of CD's now is so much better than in the 90's and early 2000's that burnt disks should prolong the life of your laser if anything.
I can't comment as I haven't played Saturn much but Dreamcast is great, especially if you have friends.
Let's talk about Darkstalkers (aka Vampire), and also any other VR that has Halloween aesthetics.
I love how smooth and detailed the animation is in this game, and also love how Japanese games incorporate Western horror elements into their overall aesthetic -- game series like Castlevania, Disgaea and Resident Evil are some of my favorites. Post pictures and talk about all the spooky stuff, especially examples in otherwise non-spooky games.
One difference between Japan and Western occult beliefs is that the 'witching hour' occurs at dusk instead of midnight. You'll notice in some Yoshi's Island stages that Shy Guys and other spooky creatures come out at dusk. I'd assume this trope happens in some other games too.
I want to fuck Lilith.

They did some fun stuff with the animation

in a way Im kind of glad the series died, I really would HATE to see it get that shitty 3d model treatment that SF got.
Is a Raspberry Pi at all decent as a retro emulation machine?
>>3570050
It does everything up to and including PS1 pretty well (a bit of lag with some PS1 titles).
>>3570050
It is pretty good, having usb makes it very versatile in controller support and it has a higher resolution output than something like the wii.
>>3570050
I'd say just get an old dell, by the time you can all the adapters and parts for the Pi (unless you already have them) it'll end up costing $60+ depending on what you want to do.
A thread for retro strategy RPG/simulation RPG/turn-based tactics games, like Langrisser, Sakura Taisen, Daisenryaku, Super Robot Taisen, Tactics Ogre, etc. What are your favorites?
Jagged Alliance 2
Which Langrisser should I play and on which system? (preferably english)
Share some fun builds/chars to play. How do I get full daedric armor? Is it lucky worthy? Lycantrophy or Wolfism ?
Not even one Daggerfag ?

Always interested in this game but have never sat down and played it as it was a bit before my time and the controls always throw me off.
ITT: Game's multiplayer was better than better than its single player.
>>3596575
Every decent fighting game.

Just hours of playing multiplayer with my brother. Shame the Xbox version never had the same multiplayer modes.
Turok: Evolution's multiplayer is pretty fun, despite having unbalanced weapons & stuff.
Hello /vr/, first time posting on this board !
I'm desperately trying to find two PC games I used to play when I was a kid. Could you help me ? Even the narrowest clue could help me.
I think they ran on Windows 98, but they could have been released earlier. They weren't big games, maybe even not "good" games, since my standards were lower back then.
In the first game, there was a bunch of chicken on the screen, inside fences, moving both horizontally and vertically (since the view was top-down).
The aim of the game, if there was one, was (as far as I remember) to simply kill the chickens (but you could also add more, to double the fun). To this end, you had a bunch of weapons, from gun to atomic bomb. There was also a "weapon" which did nothing else than capture chickens in bubbles which then raised them until the bubble popped and the chicken went back to meet the ground in a pleasant sound of spurting viscera and blood.
Yes I was a kid, and yes it amused me... A lot.
The second game was a platform game. The character was a simple round blue guy with two round feet. He looks like picture related. I think the first level (I didn't really get further) took place in a nuclear plant, since there was some kind of green radioactive goo under the platform and barrels with the yellow radioactive logo on it.
If any of these two descriptions tells you anything, don't hesitate to speak ! A link would of course be welcome, but I try to not have that kind of expectations.
I really hope to find them one day, it's been years since I've started to look !
Thanks /vr/ !
I can't speak for the first one, but the second one sounds kind of like Putty from 1992.
>>3595838
Good try, unfortunately, it's not that one... The graphics were much simpler and flat. My little blue guy REALLY looked like in the first picture.
>>3595824
Not really sure about the level, but the spherical guy reminds me of Fury of the Furries.
This guy crashes a party and hides his Star Rod inside your gf's castle. What do you do?
It's okay, I bet I get to beat him up in Paper Mario 3.
