Snes had a CPU too weak to handle it. Thus slowdowns. All the ports of the game save Virtual Console fix the slowdown.

Play the PS1, PS2, Xbox, etc ports.

Slowdowns
Shitty second run.
Shitty levels

All in all a trainwreck of a game. Same with Super Castlevania IV.

Having to play through the entire game twice while having to use the shittiest weapon on the second time killed it for me.

How many of you had this VHS? I found a copy at Goodwill for like a buck. I also have the N64 preview VHS that I somehow got sent from Nintendo Power. I never even had a subscription and I think I only ever bought a couple of issues, yet I still received a tape. I think I might have responded to a contest or something.

Why do resellers have such a bad reputation?

Where do you guys purchase your old games?

Because resellers sells game a 100x their real price because "it's a collector thing, dude" and that's bs.

>Why do resellers have such a bad reputation?
It's easy to say "durr becuz they no understand economics" but there are good reasons to dislike resellers beyond resenting their opportunism and the main reason is because the ones you know IRL either funnel games out of your area or offer them for sale in your area but set their prices by eBay without considering the ~33%(!) fees eBay ends up sucking out of sellers. Up until a few years ago, it was possible for resellers to operate in the reverse, buying lots on ebay, cherry picking for their collection then selling smaller bundles locally but the margins have shrank considerably on /vr/ era games and it's just not worth fucking with either as a hobby or as a small business.

>Where do you guys purchase your old games?
The past. LoL. That's where us cool guys with cool collections all bought them. The guys who are all over the Facebook groups "Will trade Dreamcast gamez to complete my N64 collection. Must include boxes" or basically anybody who's buying a lot of 20 year old games right now is much more deserving of your hate as it's actually the buyers who determine value, not the (re)sellers.

>>3599380
I'll tell you what I always tell people. Get out there and buy $2 Wii games, PS2 and PS3 games and Gamecube games if you can find 'em they're already starting to swell up. If you have good taste and patience you can build up a respectable collection just to sit on and someday maybe trade for the SNES games you want. If you have a real uncontrollable boner for old games try collecting PC games. Assembling a retro PC and buying games for it has been quite enjoyable for me without being a huge investment. Also retro game ephemera is something rare and collectible without really being so in demand yet that it's prohibitively expensive.

Just some thoughts.

Which had the better graphics?
Which had the better audio?
Which had the better game library?
What genres of game is each system known for?
30 posts and 4 images submitted.
>>
By better library I mean average quality of game not quantity.
I already know GG has 5 times more games than Lynx (and Gameboy has 3 times more games than GG).
>>
>Which had the better graphics?
Hardware-wise, undoubtedly the Lynx. That said it was under-utilised so I'd have to give it to the Game Gear based on the software that was actually released.
>Which had the better audio?
Game Gear by a mile.
>Which had the better game library?
Based on your addendum I'd give that to the Lynx. There are very very few bad games on it.
>What genres of game is each system known for?
Game Gear has typical Sega classics. Lynx has probably the best selection and quality of 80s arcade ports of any system up to the fifth gen.

They're both great systems in their own right and really cheap to get into right now. No need to choose between them, just get both and enjoy.

T. Avid Lynx and Game Gear collector and fan.
>>
>>3597226
I agree with you on what you said about the Lynx, I don't have a Game Gear, however. There are too few exclusive games for it. Most of its games can be played on the Master System and/or are downgraded Mega Drive games.

I love this game. It has this eerie, yet comfy feeling that few games have been able to replicate.
18 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>3596661
It's probably eerie for you because its visuals are made of arts and crafts.

...arts and crafts that were found in an abandoned hoarder's house and assembled together in lieu of an actual, breathing world. It IS stated that the baby Yoshis were hatched inside a cursed world made to look like a storybook, which obviously wouldn't be lived in and give off that unnerving feel. But yeah, it is indeed comfy as you said.
>>
>>3596679
Yeah, I think you nailed it. It's so strange to think that a game can be both creepy and relaxing at the same time, but that's what Yoshi's Story is.
>>
>>3596694
The prerendered graphics on the 64 bit console also helps, admittedly. Woolly World isn't as eerie, it in fact turns the comfy factor up to insane levels in comparison, plus Yoshi himself is a part of the arts and crafts, not an actual Yoshi living in the fabricated world, it alleviates the juxtaposition Yoshi's Story has otherwise.

You know, now that I think about it, I can't think of any other eerie-comfy games like it. Maybe the first Pikmin?

What's the best analog stick for bullet hells? I need to get a new analog controller so I can play again, I wore it out and it's only good for rpgs and casual shit now. The only shmups I've 1CC'd are Chorensha and Gigawing, and I ended up burning through all my extends and bomb stocks on the absolute final confrontation in both cases. Hopefully a new stick will help?

Very early systems only had beeper sound and games for them don't support more.
Later you had a plethora of sound cards with varying support from games. Sometimes you have a setup to choose which to use.
