Let's talk about 3D platformers. What's your favorite/least favorite one? Will they ever make a comeback?

I've recently been playing through pic related and I'm having a blast. Really underrated game.

I really liked the Legend of Kyrandia games. They were calm and had pretty pixel art. Nothing difficult, but just satisfying to click around.

Anyone know what the japan only "sequel" to River City ransom is called. A NES game that was apparently like RCR except expanded?

Don't know, probably one of these;

Could be Downtown Special: Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki da yo Zen'in Shūgō!

THere's also a PC Engine CD version of it with a live soundtrack, better graphics, cutscenes, and voices. Japanese only unfortunately (I've only really listened to the soundcrack)

According to hardcore gaming the X68000 version has extra sections (deadends go to new areas).

Thanks. I tried them all (before I saw the replies I decided to dig even deeper into research lol). It seems to be that Downtown Special game. Except there are no enemies (most of the time) and my friend and me wandered around aimless for 30 minutes until we quit. Translated version and non translated.

Clearly the translation, or game in general, has some trick to actually play the game. Unlike RCR where you just go to town kicking ass.

In my search I found a on foot 'racing' game with 4 rcr guys. It was the most ridiculous shit. Downtown Nekketsu Kōshin Kyoku: Soreyuke Dai Undōkai

Which is the superior retro 3D Sonic platformer, /vr/?

Sonic Adventure 2 is by far the superior game. The first one had the horrible Big and Amy stages, and the level design was kind of a clusterfuck. The only real bad part of SA2 on the Dreamcast was that it didn't have the radar on the Knuckles/Rouge levels that was later added to the GCN port.
>>
imo barring the story, sonic adventure 2 is the best sonic game just in general

How do you tighten a loose analog stick?

To prevent it from loosening again which lube to use and how to apply it?

What is the best replacement stick if the original is too far gone?

What technology does the N64 analog stick use?
What technology do 3rd party sticks and other console analog sticks use?
Advantages/disadvantages? Are there any other technologies that analog sticks could possibly use?

Aside from the Hori pad, are there any 3rd party controllers that equal or exceed the originals?

Are they any games that are incompatible with the memory expansion pak (have to put back the jumper pak to play)?

Do the translucent models of N64 also have translucent power bricks?

>>
Friendly reminder that the N64 wasn't actually stronger graphically (let alone audially) than the PSone, it just was puched beyond it's limits by Nincucko.
NshitT4 software usually chugged at 20 frames per scanline while PSone games ran in an ideal 30fps.

Let's talk about Tetris.

Lately I have been playing the two NES versions of Tetris, Nintendo and Tengen. Also during spare time I play the shitty online JS Tetris app.

Im crossed between the Tengen version and the Nintendo version. I feel that Tengen has a better difficulty curve, but aestetically it is kind of drab. The Nintendo version however has better aesthetics and music.

I notice that there are a few mods online for the Nintendo version. Do any of you know of any mods which are worth looking into? Also, what is your favorite version of Tetris?

Discuss Tetris.

I created a torrent with 260 SMW hacks downloaded from SMW central (rated 3.5+). This allows you to skip the annoying process of applying each hack to a copy of the SMW rom (since SMW central doesn't like to infringe).

The magnetic link is too long to post but you should be able to find it via 1337x search.

Mine's Eternal Champion.

DBZ Super Butoden 2.

I still play it from time to time with a friend who also knows how to play fairly well, this game is seriously fun as fuck.

I don't like Eternal Champions but I think it's cool if some people like it, probably they can find some enjoyment out of it that I can't and that's nice.
I like to see people being fan of fighting games that aren't the usual capcom and snk arcade hits.

The artist for both versions is the same so you don't lose much of one version by playing the other (Art-wise, at least). In fact, the only real difference is that the PC-98 version looks more glossy, while the Windows version has more of an anime feel to it, because of the colors used.

That aside, the game's around 30 hours long, I think.

>>3550665
By "anime" I meant TV anime, by the way.
