I need to come up with a clan leader for a tribe of druid cannibals. They worship fire and the spirit of the Fox, and they're violent to the point of being masochistic. Any cool ideas for druid powers that take advantage of his MO?

He whips himself so hard that it lights him on fire.
>>
Make him a mysterious prophet-like character with a penchant for fiery sermons. He propogates the cleansing and renuviating effect fire has as a literal symbol of rebirth through the destruction of the self into something refreshing and new. As such fire serves to reincarnate nature whenever it grows unfertile and corrupt. He combines the powers of fire and druidism into a unified new school of magic that serves to both destroy and heal. If he is not stopped soon his teachings will inevitable change the world.

Yeah, I like how that'll offset the really violent nature of his people. Thanks!

So, a relatively common trope in capeshit is ludicrous amounts of money being a super power unto itself.

Short of just doing literally exactly what capeshit does (ie just using money to buy magic) does FANTASY allow money to be a superpower? All that really comes to mind is paying enough mercenaries to make a continent quake.

Stories of using fat wods of gold are also welcome.

It's worth keeping in mind that in the Middle Ages, a high quality steel sword would cost as much as an average house. A full suit of steel plate armor would cost even more. A warhorse with barding, even more still.

All in all, a well-equipped knight or nobleman's gear could cost him an amount equivalent to several million dollars today.

I am making a low-budget MTG cube for my playgroup. The one catch is, they're all sick of counters and tokens. Not counters like counterspells (we're fine with those) stuff like charge counters, poison counters, -1/-1 counters, those dumb energy counters from that newest set, that kind of stuff, they're all sick of them.

Any suggestions for fun stuff to draft that doesn't involve that kind of stuff? Actually, I've never built a cube before to begin with, any suggestions for building cubes in general? Like, I know I need some bad cards and some bombs, just to simulate the pack opening experience. Should I organize it by rarity and make packs like Wizards would or should I just mix it all together and if you get a bunch of good shit in your first few picks, then lucky you? About how many cards makes it a good size to be drafted over and over?

I have shitloads of junk commons from the last 20 years or so of playing and a decent selection of junk rares, but I don't want any individual cards over 20$ in this thing. That's why I say budget. Otherwise I'm willing to spend a bit on stuff I don't have if I have to. I realize cutting out counters and tokens is a big deal, like making a cube without artifacts or making one without any blue cards.

So, any advice please?

Babby's First Cube
Step 1: Identify 10 Color Pair Archetypes
Step 2: Shove in random cards that are useful in those archetypes
Step 3: Test

Here's an article to help you get started.
http://legitmtg.com/casual/cube-building-101/

You can do literally anything with your cube- only commons, no blue, Mirrodin block, multiplayer, anything at all. If your group doesn't like tokens and counters, you can build a cube to do that. A pauper cube would be the perfect and cheapest way to do that.

Is there any way to use the old "character who was presumed dead comes back as a villain" twist without coming off as hackneyed?

>>
>>50295649
It may work, if the character was either left to die in the enemy territory, or had sustained injuries that may be reversed with medicine/magic. If the fucker was shot in the head then yes, it will be hacky as fuck.
>>
>>50295649

Boss alternate forms. The dragon you defeated and knocked down a mountain rolled into a [Cursed Swamp], and now it's a near-mindless maybe undead and very feral version of itself stalking around the muck, dragging its broken wings behind it, stalking as little more than a massive bulwark of shadow through the swamp's thick, shrouding mist cover.

I've pulled that trick out of the hat where a former party member was boom-head shot'ed, left for dead then came back. Turns out he was a clone with a computer for a brain and programmed to believe he was the dead party member, but they didn't figure that out until they were standing over his again head shot corpse.

Our DM is giving us the option of playing up to four characters in a 5e game, but the experience for all characters we play has to be divided among them. My knee jerk reaction is wanting to play four, because it seems like a group of lower-level characters would still be more effective than one big strong guy, but when I think about levels costing four times the XP, I get the jitters. What do you guys think?

Two characters that complement each other would be best. Or team up with another player and make octuplet sorcerors.
>>
>>50295371

i feel like it will end up similarly to having four times as many players, namely that it takes forever to get anything done. Also, will lead to having conversations with yourself. Seems like a bad idea on your gm's part.
>>
>>50295545

but, and here is the caveat i just thought of. If he plays it as high fatality and you wheedle it down until each player only has one surviving character they play, that could be kinda cool.

If you defend the design choice to give most combat spells a casting time of 1 standard action because "it's no fun to not cast a spell every round", would you, by that logic, accept rogues adding Sneak Attack damage to all attacks against all creatures in all circumstances no matter what?

/tg/, last week my joke character did something badass and jumped the party up from level 2 to level 4, and I'm pretty pumped about it. This character may survive to greatness yet.

So, long story short, I'm in a barrel.

Actually, lets back up a bit. This campaign started a few weeks ago. our GM told us to make characters who are regular schmucks. The idea is regular people thrust into irregular circumstance. My character is an old lady who wanted to be an adventurer when she was younger, but decided to take the "mature" option, and settle down and raise a family. Now that her kids are raising her grandkids, and her husband has passed on, she finds herself with a chance to finally go on those adventures.

So anyway, I'm in a barrel surrounded by zombies because the spell caster likes blasting things. Keep in mind, I got sorta shoe-horned into being a healer, which is the only reason the other PCs keep a decrepit old lady around. From in my barrel I'm holding a Detect Undead spell, and it's lighting up like Mardi Gras. Then the caster decides to go loud, so I looked at the GM and said, "Anon, I'm very sorry about this, but I'm going to need you roll 500 will saves."

I spammed Channel Positive Energy until my undead-radar turned into a donut. After we got out of that mess, the GM counted up the XP, and we leveled twice. He said I did over 1000 damage on my first energy pulse.

Like I said, I'm kinda pumped about it.
>>
>>50288276
>He said I did over 1000 damage on my first energy pulse.
HOW. I'm assuming he meant between all the enemies in the radius, but HOW. How is that even possible for a level 2 cleric?

Let's assume best case scenario, you had a phylactery of positive channeling, all the enemies failed their saves, you rolled max, and every square in the burst had an enemy. Let's do the math. I suck at math, so please, feel free to correct me.

Looking at the number of squares affected by a 30 foot radius burst, it could get 96 enemies.

If each enemy took full damage, that would be a total of 576 damage between all enemies with a 1d6 channel energy from a level 2 cleric.

If you have the Sun domain, that would be an extra 2 damage per target, so a total of 768 damage.

According to my math, you'd need a phylactery of positive channeling, something you have no business having at level 1, to deal a total of over 1000 damage across all targets on a single channel at level 2.

So I made a amalgam of three systems for my Friday group to use. I taught them through RISUS and wanted to make a system that could serve as a thiccer juicer version so they don't get bored of it and such.

If anyone could give me any feedback on it, tell me what should change and what works, I'd be mighty thankful.

Type this up so that it's easy for people to read, these are clearly your shorthand notes.

Damage is done by removing body skill, then keep stat dice, but body is a keep stat, isn't it? Also, do you mean, if you lose a defwnse roll then you lose a die from your rolling pool? As in, your wounds equals the number of body die you have? Do all attacks deal 1damage then?

All combat actions will involve rolling a half dozen dice, on both sides, then adding up the numbers. This can massively slow down play.

This thing is a mess.
>>
>>50286460
Hmm yea, I made it in a few hours today. Thanks for picking it apart.

The damage goes by RISUS rules, it'll be a lot easier for my players to understand...hopefully. I'll clean that up then. I really liked the roll against roll aspect of RISUS, keeps the players invested, but if I'm going to have people rolling this many dice I might need to figure out a static defense number.

Body/Mind/Sense are all "bubble stats" (don't have a good name for them yet but I'm going to rename it). They basically aren't numbers used for rolling, instead they're meant to be the main derivative stat to get things like Nerve and how much you can Raise a roll. I need to put in something now that I'm thinking of it, they're supposed to be the lowest of the two stats below them. All attacks do 1 die unless otherwise stated.

I think I'll have to change some of the concepts, bigger dice pools mean more common doubles and such.

Thank you again.
>>
>>50286571
Consider moving from an addition system to a 'successes' system like Shadowrun. Instead of keeping a certain amount of dice and adding them together (which will make target dc's hard to calculate. Stop by the homebrew thread and ask them if they can even model that system.) Just increase your dice pool, and count the dice that come up above a certain number as a 'success' this will save a lot of time on addition, since sorting out your four best dice from your pool of 9 and then adding them together can quickly become time consuming.

A lot of systems use both stats and attributes as terms, you may want to call your 'bubble stats' attributes.

That said, you may just want to try an already made system. Risus is fun and does its job well, but if you want meatier there are other systems that work well too. Just, depends on what you want.

Hello /tg/. On the past few days, I worked on a little project of mine.

http://hexdraft.x10host.com/

The goal is to make a web based alternative to Hexographer and the like.

It's prototype as fuck right now (though you can make some basic things), and I come with a few question.

The first one is, are any of you interested by this kind of thing or am I wasting my time and should stop right this moment?

The second one is, if you're interested, what kind of feature would you like to see? I was planning to add the possibility to change the color of the borders, but I don't have a lot of other ideas.

Also I'm using icons from The Elder Scrolls Online at the moment. If anyone can suggest me a good and open source icon pack to use, that would be great.
