Dead Pharaohs are the guardians of the afterlife. In order to move on, the cursed must enter their tombs, where they have absolute power, challenge them, and take their key to the door of the underworld.

>>the day/night cycle is completely random
>>weather and seasons happen randomly
Or rather, they don't happen at all.
Everything is just stuck in a perpetual cycle of what the time of death was.
God help you its summer and day.
What would be the most effective thing you could make to defeat monsters in a medieval economy/technology base?
Wagon with a ballista/giant crossbow on it.
Lure monster onto road/into narrow canyon with clear line of sight and nowhere to run. Bait it with infantry and then shoot it in the center mass with several hundred pounds of sharp metal.
Although if black powder is available, I prefer a Gunlance to any other monster killin' tool.
Spear, harpoon, bow and crossbow let people hunt lions, tigers, bears, elephants and whales.
If your monster doesn't have some magical bullshit going on they'll do the trick there too. If there is magical bullshit you simply add whatever plot device or magical bullshit you prefer to balance it.
Add a good amount of poison to things for extra insurance against the damn thing surviving.
>>50323722
Depends on the monster.
Shouldn't there be spells designed to get you high? If so, how don't most wizards just end up spending their days casting those spells over and over again?
It just seems too tempting and once you're hooked there's no way back.
>>50323555
Apply this line of thought to chemicals and chemists and see why you're wrong
>>50323555
Once you had the ability to do that, I feel like it's either that or you make the conscious effort to redefine how you get your kicks, and then casting spells to do those things

Why is modern a silver bullet format but legacy isn't? Is it all on force of wills doing?
>>50322664
Having Counterspell doesn't hurt either.
>>50322664
Legacy can deal with a turn 1 combo
>>50322664
Yes, Wasteland, FoW and Daze keep the format honest despite having some of the most powerful combos in card gaming.
Tell me about the systems you love, /tg/. I'm feeling somewhat burned out about playing D&D/pathfinder, and i'm looking for something new to gm for my group.
>>50322504
GURPS is great. Nice liberatin gfeeling putting whatever you want to paper.
Want a swordsman who dabbles in demonic pacts? Bam
Kung fu cook? Bam
Accountant blessed by the Gods? Bam
Its awesome. Also, you can hit people in the head, and kill them with massive damage, instead of swinging 2d6+7 vs 250 HP over and over and over and over
I love this game so much. Or at least the idea, it's a bit rough around the edges.
It's a light, generic system that's mostly concerned with making adventuring and combat a fun, tactical game with minimal amount of bookkeeping.
>>50322504
I'm currently playing 'Dungeon World' and loving it.
The base rules are simple and recognizable for anyone who has played D&D. You roll 2d6 + stat bonus, for everything. 6- is catastrophe, 7-9 is limited succes and 10+ is a critical. Players have Moves instead of class features and feats, and Moves are basically "something cool my character can do". Thives can discover traps, Druids shapeshift, Wizards cast spells etc. Easy to approach.
The greatest selling point though is the attitude. Rule Zero is that 'Play follows from fiction'; you can do things that makes sense in the context of the game, putting rules second to roleplaying.
For example, your players meet an iron golem and the fighter says "I attack it". How does he do that? A sword wouldn't logically do much damage to something made of massive iron. How does the party deal with the golem then? You force the players (and GM) to think creatively, and actually roleplay their actions rather than relying on rules. It's not to everyone's taste, but I love it.
I'm looking for cartoony/more stylized D&D/Pathfinder/general fantasy character art. The more realistic stuff is cool and all, but it gets a little dull after a while. I've only got a few but I'll post what I have.

I realize this isn't /v/, but fuck if I'm going to post there. I'm looking for something I read a long while ago, and was hoping to read again, and Ultima does seem relevant to most fa/tg/uy interests.
It was a set of stories about an incredible troll in Ultima Online, a bard if I remember correctly, whose things was stealing from other players in increasingly ridiculous ways. I remember a phrase the person used a lot, though this is paraphrasing: "You dropped it and then it belonged to the ground, and now it belongs to [character name]!" I can't find this shit, and I've been looking for a few hours. If I could just remember the character's name, I would find it easily, but I can't remember anything except 'bard, steals shit, and uses really backwards logic to justify it'.

Can't help you but I do love Ultima and its system of morality, and I wish someone would do a good RPG out of it that wasn't ham-fisted railroading.
All seven games of this series were great.
>>50322387
Man, I miss UO. What a great game that was.
An Ultima table top would be great.
Expansive world with solid lore, pre-existing class structure, decently designed morality system (iirc).

This thread was a success last time so let's have another.
What is your current character's deepest darkest secret?
Come on, everyone has at least one so let's hear it.
To kick this thread off the ground I'll start with my current Shadow od the Demon Lord character, Maurena Llaostri, a female Human Magician. Her secret is that she knows forbidden demonic magic, dark knowledge that she "bought" from a dark entity that appears in her nightmares in exchange for a promise to, when the time is right, bear the offspring of the dark entity. This si something she is deathly afraid to reveal, as she is the acolyte of a very capricious inquisitor.
>>50322171
The fuck? I never seen that. I saved my pic from another thread here on /tg/
>>50322103
The celestial being in my Aasimar's heritage is not an angel, it's a benevolent Great Old One.
>>50322103
Half-elven paladin. Very young, mostly brought up on knightly tales and lived his minor life span mostly as a castle servant, then got blessed by some possibly-puppeteering fae and went out to right wrongs and bring evil-doers to justice with great zeal.
The secret? Aside from the obvious "Fae are just using him as a pawn" angle, He's come to really, really enjoy fighting and is getting more and more of a taste for killing with each battle. He tries to stabilise as many enemies as he can as a "hero" would, but the urge to smite is always there...

What was the turning point that made you grow past high fantasy/high magic and mature into low fantasy/low magic for better verisimilitude, consistency, and storytelling?
>Implying
At this point I do like low-fantasy more than high-fantasy but just like any opinion that might change with time.
All in all it's about the story you tell, wether it be high- or low fantasy. Both can be shit, both can be great.
It's about what you like, and how good your storyteller is about conveying it.
Go fuck yourself~

>It's some 80s shit called RIFTS
This game is pretty fucking awesome. I made a "robot pilot" which is pretty much a guy with a Mech. There's some weird mutant vampire guy, some psychic human torch guy and a couple random dudes that I can't figure out what their gimmick is yet in the party.
Anyone ever play this shit anymore besides us? Pic related, it's RIFTS
>>50335855
We've played it. The /tg/ consensus is:
>Awesome setting.
>Fucking horrible rules.
There's a Savage Worlds version coming out soon.
>>50336196
The game is simple as hell, I learned it in one session. What was your problem?
Guess it was just a drive by /v/ post, that's too bad.
Well, guess I'll see you around space cowboys.

I fail to see the problem.
You really shouldn't go by /tg/ charts. All the anime and video games ones are about 50% "it's just on this list because it's related to a game", 40% garbage with some obnoxious fans, and 10% actually worth looking into.
I'd hate to see how bad the ratio would be for a webcomic chart.
Sums up the life of average citizen of the Imperium.
>>50317012
The average imperial citizen doesn't get to make a heroic, if futile last stand. Instead they work 20 hour a day work days every day in crippling poverty until the day they die of a disease, die in an industrial accident, or get executed because they were 27 seconds late to their shift.
>>50317460
They work only 14 hours.
>>50317012
>Average
Longer than modern workshifts, less food, less luxuries and a life dedicated to an oppressive theocratic regime. If we're going true average then >>50317460 isn't exactly the best explanation, but there is a huge population who suffers that level of bullshit.
