How would a Magic the Gathering format like this work out?
>All cards cost 1 mana and have a CMC of 1. The cost is based on any color of the card (So a blue red card costs your choice of either one blue or one red)
>All numbers on a card are replaced with 1 (so all creatures are 1/1s, lightning bolt does 1 damage, etc.)
>All cards with X are replaced with 1, (so a card with XR in the cost, costs 1R and the X effect can only be 1).
What are the best decks and interactions in this format?

How good would emrakul + friends be in this format? Would it be a combo to chain emrakul's into eachother?
>>50327550
That would be a very very irritating format, since you'd have to rely entirely on Spirit Guide effects to get rolling. Mulligan hell.
which fighting game setting would make the best RPG?
Mortal Kombat feels like a strong contender, but by the same logic Killer instinct could do too, what about Dark stalkers? etc.
>>50327428
Why not merge Mortal Kombat and Killer Instinct? I mean they're both basically 90's Superhero Comic Book fighting games and nothing in the games universal background contradicts each other much.
>>50327507
Hmmmm, Killer instinct with added MKx style fighting styles... should it be a full crossover or more of a spiritual composite?
Soul Calibur's setting has built in reasons to go adventuring, and there's precedent for teams.

What's a good system for giant monster fights? I want to give people the option to choose between kaijuu with ranged abilities and those without while making both options viable. Ideally I'd like something that takes elements like Human military support or aggression in mind as well. Other than that just post pics of kaijuu/weird monsters I guess.
Only discovered Warhammer Fantasy after Age of Sigmar became a thing. What's a good army to pick for a similar vibe and playstyle as Stormcast Eternals? I wan't to bring righteous, hammer-borne might to evil, with lots of options for customization, but I don't want the stigma of playing Stormcast.
Dwarfs
>>50326558
Are there no bulky human armies outside of Chaos?
I'll admit I'm a sucker for the models. I like the dwarfs, but they're all so damn diminutive. I like having a lot of space of show off painting skills.
Also haven't the dwarfs been mostly phased out by the crap-looking naked Fyryslyrys? And isn't there some neckbeard joke about the dwarfs just being all cannons and no infantry?
>>50327592
The Brettonians have bulky Knights, but I don't think you play them at all like Stormcast.
Ever written out a campaign idea and plan for it months in advance only to have a real world even come along that has similarities to it? Ever had people notice the similarities and ask if you're trying to make a political statement when it really had nothing to do with the event.
It's happened twice to me.
The first time I wrote a Sci-Fi campaign where one of the large elements involved the primary inhabited region of the galaxy being swamped with a migrating fleet of aliens fleeing from some calamity in their homeland. They poured in, strip mining planets, flying anywhere they felt like it, and generally terrifying the settled species of the area. They were also rather different, biologically speaking, from the inhabitants that were already there, and had an unusual, rather violent and intolerant culture.
I was going for a Quarian fleet mixed with Barbarian Invasion feeling, but then the Syrian war and migrant crisis happened.
The second time I decided to poke fun at my stupid furry setting with a campaign about humanity getting sick of having to share a planet with anthros and kicking them out. I threw together some 40k rhetoric with an Xcom2 sort of storyline. There was a lot of "the government is sold out to the enemy" "Yiff in hell" "humanity for the humans" "throw them out of our countries" and other nationalist stuff.
Then this dang election happened.
Anyone else have things like this happen?

Six months before Kaladesh was even anmounced, I wrote up a setting that was straight up not!Kaladesh.

Dude. You have no fucking idea.
A couple years back I started on a fanmade "return to Innistrad" block. (I never got very far, for reasons.) Plot revolved around all the evil and 2spoopy managing to come back, despite Avacyn's presence. Main villain of the block was Nahiri, doing it all over her unrequited feelings for Sorin.
Name of my block? Shadows Over Innistrad.
Still not convinced I'm not a fucking wizard.Although not even I could have predicted Avacyn's death.
This is how I Rigger
This is how I warlord
This is how I design dungeons.
ITT: /tg/ makes a magic system.
I'll start.
Magic is not linked to the users itself, but rather to objects.
>>50325847
These objects are relatively easily created, but require materials harvested from the bodies of innately magical creatures.
>>50325868
The art of creating and using magic items is collectively known as "objectification".
>>50325847
if magical objects for a spell recipe are used in wrong proportions, a dangerous reaction can occur causing wild-magic like effects.
>What is Mutants and Masterminds?
"Mutants & Masterminds, or M&M for short, is an adventure roleplaying game in which you, the players, take on the roles of fictional superheroes having thrilling adventures in an imaginary world. One player, the Gamemaster, takes on the job of creating that world and the stories for the other players to take part in. Together, you create your own tales of heroic action and adventure, like your favorite superhero comic books, television shows, or movies. You don’t need any expensive computers or video game systems to take part though. You just need a book, some friends, and plenty of imagination."
The game is currently in its 3rd edition.

Trying to build a power that's a 30ft. aura that damages enemies when they either step into it or end their turn similar to Spirit Guardians from DnD 5e.
Would Reaction and Area Burst work for this? How would I stat it if I want it to go straight to the Will Save without having them dodge or without having its range any more than 30ft like it would with Perception Range?
>>50325815
>How would I stat it if I want it to go straight to the Will Save without having them dodge or without having its range any more than 30ft like it would with Perception Range?
This is something I've been thinking about for close range 'unblockable' attacks (Lightsabers, for example) where I want a dodge save but not a toughness one.
You can combine perception range with alternate resistance (dodge) to make an attack that ignores toughness, but it needs to be perception range and that's not right. I think a -1/r flaw to limit a perception attack to Close range while keeping the rest of the mechanics - no attack roll or dodge check, requires accurate senses - would be fair (you might need to buy extta senses specifically for close area attacks, but I'm okay with an extra PP tax on disintegration beams)
In your case I'd buy perception area damage, custom flaw it back to close range , buy the duration up to sustained or permanent, and add selective. Comes out to 5 PP/rank, which is comparable with reaction perception damage with a -1/rank flaw.
>>50326389
Oh wait, I just remembered, Reaction doesn't require an additional Close Range attack for close ranged auras, so I'm guessing even with Burst Area, because its a reaction, would also skip the dodge roll for that very same reason, hence why reactions are required to be limited to power level no matter what range.
I think for your lightsaber power, all you'd need is Alternate Resistance Parry since technically its a close range attack. I'd say lightsabers are more Penetrating than that though since its still just a laser effect that can be resisted with tough enough materials. There's also Weaken Toughness for things that melt stuff such as acid or a blow torch, I think it'd work for a lightsaber too.
Alternate resistance dodge or parry on damage seems like something more akin to a sphere of annihilation or VANILLA ICEU.
Let's say youths in a high-fantasy world go to a high school to prep them to one day be future heroes, whether their career sights are becoming fighters, wizards, rogues, or other things. Retired veteran heroes serve as the teaching staff.

>What would the overall curriculum look like?
>What would be noticeable differences between this high school and ours?

I think the "Core" will have to be teaching those would-be heroes how to work with each other.
As for the other subjects, I think those would be electives with general drawn out focuses (Such as Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric, Paladin, etc.)
But then what those different focused heroes would have to do in the "Core" classes would be to do stuff with the other heroes that focused on something else, and from there do exercises and tests with the goal of cooperating with each other.
As for the "Electives", that's where you get each class focused on learning for themselves and working with their fellows too.
>>50325307
Nice, that didn't occur to me. I was mainly thinking about the drawn-out focus, I like the idea of teamwork classes.
I was also thinking about the popular school sports - maybe a territory capture game using non-lethal sparing between teams with parties of 3, or something like that.

Wow, you're an asshole, OP. At least just be polite and tell them they can't be a Dhampir because you can't find any rules for it.
Or you could work with them and let them do it and have fu. You could probally refluff an existing race or class for it. Or use something like this.

What are some of those very weird or unconventional games you find interesting and what to play but know you'll never be able to get a group together for?
Tales of the Crystals is the epitome of that for me. Partly because of the weird format that'd require it to be a LARP and unexpected play it came from, and the target demo. It seems to be a lot more than and not what I'd expect to see marketed towards little girls, though lord knows this board might be a less neckbeardy place if games like this were successful. I don't even necessarily want to play it myself as much as actually see it played.
