What system would be good for a metro 2033 clone setting? Just finished the first book and my interest in post-nuclear apocalypse is rekindled.
A group of stalkers that go out to find pre-war riches would make for a good sandbox type of game, the players being mostly pit against the elements and the wildlife. Info running between the stations could lead to a real fun story that's more linear. The players could seamlessly pass between these two styles depending on where they want to go. I find that there is just enough paranormal sci-fi stuff in the world to make it just to my liking. The setting is a pretty good blend between reality and fiction.
Something that puts emphasis on survival, ingenuity and gritty, deadly combat would be nice. I haven't really seen any systems that do firearms well.
>>50331357
Either Apocalypse World if you want to go for the drama, or Savage Worlds with Savage Armory for pulpy gun stuff.
>>50331357
>I haven't really seen any systems that do firearms well.
What don't you like about the guns in systems that you've played?
>>50331357
A GM of mine used a heavily modded 40krp system to run a STALKER game once, I would say it is the best, most applicable system to use for the setting
Most of the books can be found through links in the general below

Seems like the game is actually dead now. So what's the next japanese TCG to latch on to?
Wait I count 1077 marines, charitably ignoring any dreadnoughts towards the cap.
Why are the Ultramarines disobeying the Codex Astartes?

>>50331234
"Specialist" staff is not counted towards the limits of the Codex, i.e Chaplains, Techmarines, Apothecaries, and Librarians.
That means that without even counting thise that stay at home, in training, or doing non-combat duties, you already have at least 40 marines that shouldn't be counted. Add the replacements and what I said, and you get to tour number or around it.
Hi everyone ! I want to talk about NPCs.
You see, I was told I have a peculiar way to use and create my NPCs. That is I create a lot of them. Like a whole lot. And apparently, most of my DM friends don't understand why or how I can stand making so much of them.
I currently, just for one campaign, the most important one for me, have more than 150 NPCs (of varried degrees of complexity and background development) spread out in three cities where most events of the campaign happen.
And this doesn't seem to be the norm. It's weird for me because I love creating NPCs. I love creating links from one to another, I love creating a believable society with a variety of members. And I also love integrating my player's characters to it.
How do you like creating NPCs ? Why ? How do you use them ? Is it important that they have a story and a personnality even if it won't interact with the plot ?
TL;DR
Discussion about NPCs
>>50330634
I usually:
>make an NPC for the utility purpose, but give them a quirk or two
>if players like the NPC, i make them semi-recurring and expand on their character
>if players don't react, no big deal, they move on.
If those NPCs are important to campain or character i give them motivation in addition to quirks and build up their character based on how their communication with players go. If i think of a neat thing to add to them between sessions, i add it.
Making NPCs detailed from the start is excessive effort. I find NPCs created through a joint effort to be more believable and likeable.
>>50330704
addendum:
However, when it comes to relations between various powers, i go full autism mode. I love geopolitical worldbuilding and i won't let anyone take it away from me.
>>50330704
>make an NPC for the utility purpose, but give them a quirk or two
I get that and that's usually how they start off... Like
Alright in this society there is a need for someone who can make false passeports and ID so I'll create him because PC will have to deal with it at some point.
And then...
But wait, why is he doing this ? What lead him to come to this city ? Does he like what he does ? Who employs him ? How did he learn to do it ? To whom is he loyal ?
And then I write two pages of lore.
So I asked /tg/ about four characters in my Overwatch campaign. Link is below. But I need help rating the plot.
Here goes!
>>50322199→ #
>>50330310
President's brother goes missing. Players are tasked with finding him by a "Deep Throat" like figure who may or may not be Genji.
>>50330331
Path takes them to the megacorp that the bro (and to some degree the President) run. It is revealed that the President had been blabbing national secrets to the brother to commit insider trading on a national level. They discover that Talon had taken him, and somehow deduce the bro's location.
>>50330340
At the Talon base, the party finds the bro, barely alive. The bro tells the party that Talon wanted information on a shipment of plutonium and that they have already knocked it over.
An assault upon another Talon base reveals the purpose of the plot- Talon has already sold the plutonium to the Omnic Liberation Front, a radical, hyper militant all-Omnic organization dedicated to carving out a homeland by force. To do so, the OLF plans to detonate a massive dirty bomb near the Hawaiian Islands, rendering it uninhabitable to anyone but Omnics. This has the dual purpose of being a source of income for Talon and for increasing anti-Omnic prejudice, regardless of its success or failure. And the "president's brother" scandal would destabilize the world that much more.
I think I know how we can save magic
We need to gather up everyone who "Invests" or "speculates" on cards, and put them in a fucking gas chamber.
Then we abolish the reserve list, print lightning bolt in standard again, and unban splinter twin in modern.
All that needs to be done is have a reprint set not balanced to draft and be made solely for reprinting high demand cards. Modern/Eternal Masters should not have absolute garbage like Goblin Trenches as rares.
>>50330781
This. If they want to make a draft set they can call it draft masters. Making a set balanced around drafting and throwing in some random expensive modern/legacy cards at mythic and charging 9.99$ per pack isn't helping anyone.
>>50330115
Hilariously, apparently by re-releasing Eternal Masters and Masterpieces, MTG Financial people headed by Rudy of "Alpha Investments" are freaking the /fuck/ out and acting like the sky is falling.
What style of music does your party's Bard play?

Unless it's a wacky JRPG-esque magitek setting, probably not

What about contemporary instruments such as the guitar?

>upon delivering last item, turns out she is of course a succubus building a magic item. I figure her out and try to turn the item on her, fail my rolls spectacularly, and get dominated. She gets playful and says she wants to toy with me before I did.
>other players separately begin following up on my character, and with enough success get into the scene. Ivan bursts in on my drow girl, spread eagle, getting eaten out by a succubus.
>not allowed to communicate anything to Ivan as I'm dominated, so she tells him he can join in. Ivan joins in without a second thought.
>by the time the next player arrives, my character is still struggling on the ground to resist the dominate, and Ivan is getting his dicm sucked.
>Succubus critically fails her spell to charm the last character, and he blows her head off in one shot.
>Ivan standing there, scorch marks on his dick, only character who didn't know what the fuck was going on.
My Lord. I've gotten for you some good news and bad news. The good news is that the deer poaching problem in your fief's forests has been ended. The bad news is that your peasants are now being "thinned out" by the deer.

So now I just have another poaching problem. The job of thinning the human population is supposed to be handled by the Bloody Branches, these predatory forest spirits we've got. The deer aren't supposed to get in on it, I'll have to bring this up with the local spirit court.

Looking for a two player board game to play with an almost stranger as an icebreaker. Suggestions?
>>50326651
>Splendor
Show off your tactical acumen, use strategy to impress her/ him/ it. If you do lose then you mow have a strategy game that the two can continue playing. Also after a few rounds the game can be played (less seriously) with more than a few drinks due to its simplicity, all of this without it being an aspie showdown game

Ron. You're almost at the end. win with 1 suit with dragon is better than a measly point from tenpai.
Also, you can't learn anything from the flash game. You need someone to teach it or read an online tutorial. getting someone to teach you is better though.
How do you guys feel about guns in fantasy, high, low, or anything in between?
I feel like they kind of take away the "mystique" of most fantasy settings and much prefer magic take the place of anything requiring gunpowder, especially since guns can easily snowball into more modern-day rapid firing beasts. But at the same time, some early guns can be a great addition when a setting is a particularly low kind of fantasy.
Magitek like pic related is a different can of worms, so let's try to keep it gunpowder.
I feel like magitek is the only real solution if you want to avoid escalating into "hurp let's solve every solution with dynamite".
It also means that you can use a lot of systems that weren't already made with guns in mind, since you could always explain them as magic implements/wands/enchanted crossbows.
>>50322651
I have them in my setting, but I specifically made them mass-produced crap that's mainly good for mooks, since they don't scale with your heroicness.
Depends on the setting. Everyone bitches about clumsy and inaccurated Arquebuses and handcannons. Yet, nobody seems to mind cannons. Cannons are also almost mandatory for fun naval combat because naval combat without those is not fun unless your setting takes place in Rome.
