I live in a strange place. Where I'm from, there is no game store. There are plenty of magic players, but haven't been exposed to reddit, 4chan, or even YouTube's magic community. They're mostly conservative mormons (just like me), so even if they found these sites, they would probably not enjoy it.
Anyway, with that back story out of the way, I'll cut to today. I haven't been to Saturday night magic recently (with me going out of town, a school dance, and general school stuff), so I decided today was a great day to go. I asked my good friend (I do not want to give these people identities away, so I'll call them by names of commanders they had that night) oloro where magic was located tonight, and he said it was at zurgo's house. He told me the location, and the house was far, far away from my house.
This was expected (most of my magic friends live over there, and my normal friends live around me), but as I went to zurgo's house, I noticed the houses around his where either trailer homes or old people homes. However, his house was on a dirt road, and was twice as large as any of the house around him. It also had twice as much garbage, construction materials and cars around his house.
I approached the door and was going to ring the doorbell, but zurgo got to the door before me. I was grateful that he did this (my ha dis where full with cheesecake and my cards), but still, kinda weird. I actually know zurgo, so I better describe him. He's a grade below me in school, and appears to have somewhat of a temper which he controls very well... sometimes. He also talks to daxos (the W/B one, who wasn't there and is arguably the best player around), so he knows somewhat of the competitive scene.
>>50315585
I walked in, and there were two other people there. Atarka (the fate reforged one), who is in my grade, and tromokratis who is zurgo's brother. They are like zurgo in a lot of ways, but atarka actually has money to spend on card sleeves and says "why are you doing this?" A lot when we play. Again, I know both of them. We start to walk into a separate room, and the reason why I knew that zurgo had younger siblings is that THEY WHERE RIGHT THERE.
"Oh anon! I hate myself so that's why I'm reading this, but what's so wrong with the younger siblings being there?"
Good question, nobody. The first reason is because these are little, little kids. One was still in diapers, and the others where still loud and running around. I was afraid for my cards, as the diapers one apparently got into all of their board games, so there was just a mess of boxes, cards, and papers in one corner of the room (did I tell you that there was a lot of junk lying on the floor as well?) the second reason why is because whenever my older brothers had friends, I was NEVER allowed to mess around and converse with them for that long. Anyway, we sat down, and I started to trade with tromokratis.
>>50315592
So, 5 minutes have passed, and I'm looking through tromokratis' cards, and I see some pretty solid cards. He had
>3 young pyromancers
>1 declaration in stone
>1 anger of the gods
>ætherling
>1 Serra angel (apparently not a lot of people have them around here)
>1 insolent neonate
>1 vampire nighthawk
Of course, I was windmill slamming these cards, but as I was, a boy named Heliod came. He was... well, he's one of the reasons why I'm writing this. He isn't THAT guy, he doesn't seem that autistic either (probably just socially challenged at best). He apparently hasn't played in awhile, but has a ugin and sorin, solemn visitor, is a little on the chubby side, and sounds feminine. He also apparently knew zurgo for the longest time, but I have never seen him before ever. I'm pretty sure he's homeschooled, but he met zurgo in 3rd grade, so I don't know. Anyway, as I saw his Ugin while looking through his trade binder (I was just waiting for tromokratis to look through my stuff), I realized daxos had lost an thin while on a scouting trip (as someone stole it.) so, I talked to heliod about his back story. He doesn't know daxos, so while didn't steal ugin, he did say he was disappointed that ugin went down in price due to ugin's reprint, sooooooooo
>>50315744
But anyway, I also wanted to talk about the two games I had, and none of this buildup nonsense. So, I played a multiplayer game against
>tromokratis, with a 5 color eldrazi deck
>Atarka, who was running b/w extort
>zurgo, with r/u artifacts (and realizing a mistake, I must add that the daxos is the W/U one, not the W/B one.)
>heliod with... his heliod deck with the commander shuffled in
>and me, anon, with a just recently upgraded mardu control deck, thanks to tromokratis's generous trades.
So, tromokratis went first, and every one went off to a slow start. I had a thoughtseize in hand, but I also only had a bloodfell caves, so I couldn't play it right then. On my second turn, however, I decided to target zurgo, as I knew that deck had an infinite turn combo with trading post, ugin'a nexus, and prototype portal. Good thing I did, as he already had trading post and the nexus in hand. I decided to make him discard trading post, as even if I got rid of the nexus, he could just get it back with the trading post, and because, you know, trading post does more than just sit around on turn five.
I'm going to be having an in game festival pretty soon. The players will be able to walk around, interact with a bunch of NPCs, and I'll have a fortune teller who will do a tarot reading for the players.
What scenarios are you excited to run? What are you nervous about? Anything that you've never tried before?
I've never GM'd, so bump

That sounds really cool anon. I started a WFRP campaign at a carnival once and I know how you feel, getitng all the fortune tellers, strongmen and the like together is really fun. The best bit of course is the MAN EATING CHICKEN.
I'm sadistically excited to continue my Vampire Requiem campaign, my players have pissed off absolutely everyone by blowing up a building and the hammer is going to fall, hard.

Man, I'm glad I decided to do an inventory on my stuff and found my missing Seeker. Not I don't have to buy the set of 5 to fill in the missing model. 15 of them is enough for me.
10 daemonettes I will get.
Do the insignia mean anything specific fo each stormhost? With AoS Starter Box getting a price cut in Aus I'm looking to start stormcast next year. I like the look of the Sons of Mallus but in Battletome: Stormcast they're shown with different insignia to the starter box models.
Would Sons of Mallus with the Hammer-Lightning insignia be fluff-acceptable or no?

Song of Swords is a a tabletop RPG centered around realistic medieval fightan' with a ludicrous variety of weapons and fighting styles, centered around a dice pool system. It's currently in beta, and can be used for both fantasy and historical games.
Call of the Void is a pulpy sci-fi tabletop RPG about fighting space-nazis and hunting giant whales with harpoons made out of the moon. Its combat system is more modern, based in the early 20th century, but can probably handle combat up to the present day.

Reposting for posterity.
WITHERING WILDS WEDNESDAY
Alandi is a large country. Larger than its simple geography would suggest. Its endless plains and swamps give it a feeling of enormity, and the lack of permanent settlements, except for the capital and a few farming villages, add to that.
But on the borders of the country, in the great swamp called Valershk, there is a township that has reported the appearance of strange goblins.
These goblins, they say, are blind albino mutants who emerge from the swamp periodically, gibbering and frothing at the mouth. They usually die within a few hours if ignored, but they rarely last that long.
It has been found that in the gullets of the beasts, in a leathery sac that occupies the place where vocal chords would normally reside, are pearls which swirl with strange colors, like glass spheres filled with dye.
These pearls are very rare--after all each goblin only has one--and are sold by the townsfolk to merchants at great expense. Hunters often wait in the swamps with food and drink, watching for the arrival of these albinos, to kill them and take their precious spheres.
The Kasonic Order's Black Sun Chapter has attempted to send agents to investigate this phenomenon, but the King of Alandi has resolutely refused them: His people are entitled to their land by ancient writ, and he will not even permit his own nobles to interfere in this township's business, however valuable it may be.
Agents have been hired by various governments to try and infiltrate the town covertly, perhaps as hunters willing to pay for a chance to kill one of the goblins themselves and claim the stone, or as scholars wishing to observe the creatures for posterity. But what sort of fool would venture into the cursed swamps of Alandi to participate in this blasphemous ritual hunt? The goblins have supposedly been appearing more frequently. What if multiple appear? Shouldn't be too much of a problem with all of the hunters.

>How dangerous is The Incredibles as a Super Kid? Is it like Ranma 1/2? Some of those powers don't look like they have non-lethal settings.
To quote the movie: "Remember the bad guys on the shows you used to watch on Saturday mornings? Well, these guys aren't like those guys. They won't exercise restraint because you are children. They *will* kill you if they get the chance. Do *not* give them that chance."
Basically, if you go out Superhero'ing, things are serious. Supers seem sorta rare though, so you're mostly just facing henchmen and/or common criminals with guns.
Also if you don't go out and do Super stuff, it's basically just ordinary, average life (unless you're really unlucky and get targeted by a supervillain).
Also also, watch out for Cape-related accidents. Like getting it caught in a plane's engine. This universe really hates capes .
>A fighting man, dashing rogue, nonmagical ranger, and barbarian without ancestor magics are perfectly fine concepts for low level D&D.
>They cease to be reasonable character options after the low-mid levels (like 5ish), when everyone else can do at least half a dozen things and you're arbitrarily insisting on limiting yourself to the ability to hit stuff and do mundane tasks anyone could accomplish in real life.
>Additionally, it's retarded and hypocritical to claim a fighter is realistic and therefore should have no supernatural abilities, (when presented with much-needed fighter-spellcasting or supernatural utility powers), when you can already get chomped on my a dragon, fall from orbit, take a bath in acid, or swim through lava, and survive; and when you can punch animated statues to death with your bare hands.
>If you deliberately choose to build a 1-trick pony NPC-classed character, and throw a fit any time someone suggests fixing the shitty broken chump classes, you have no right to bitch that you only have one trick.

>Should we bring back Commissar Mittens and the Lizard Wizard?
Is this a real question.
Hello fellow fa/tg/uys
All this winter ball talk has been making me itch to run a game of pokemon tabletop, using PTU
It's not a typical pokemon setting. The PokeWar fucked the world over hard, to the point the Poke-Gods decided to intervene and hit humanity back to the iron age in some places. Others have recovered, and things are starting to get back to normal in some places. Not all, just some.
Be looking for about four to five players to fill out the party. You don't need to know how to play the system or even build a character, you just need to have a character concept in mind, and we can build them up from there.
You can find me on Skype and Discord under this name.
Any updates on the philosopher card game? Talking about that last night was really fun.

>Sigarda, Heron's Grace
Strictly worse than Host of Herons as a commander.
I think she's pretty weak for human tribal but on the other hand I like the nuance that the hexproof while feeling kind of random to me actually synergizes with innistrad's GW humans since they have an aura/equipment theme. Of course wanting to simultaneously go wide while also having the buff theme there is pretty shit but still.
Also it feels like Sigarda's aid fell off the map. That is a card that exists. I might out it into karlov since it's a one stop.
>>50324116
Well, I run a pretty stellar Host deck, but I can see why Heron's Grace would appeal to people doing human tribal + soldier token hordes. She's a definitely more budget-friendly too. My host enchantress deck runs pretty expensive.

Dwarfs. Great metavariant, or greatest metavariant? Blend in well with human society (cultural stereotype of being hard workers, that's the nice Canadian of Sixth World stereotypes), but with the ability to play up the physical difference as required. One dice of Reaction max and a slower speed, and in return you get a big boost to BOD, a step up for Willpower, improved resistance, and thermographic vision. And the metavariants are all fun and diverse.
Am I the only one who constantly forgets that dwarves are a thing?
I have plenty of human, elf, orc and troll n
NPCs in my game, but for whatever reason, when I'm making a new NPC, I have to actively remind myself they exist, or there wouldn't be ANY in my games...
The fuck, brain?
