Okay faggots.

For a while I've been wanting to run a good gritty zombie survival horror game. Basically a mish-mash of State of Decay and Contagion. I know it's lame as fuck to base a campaign off of vidya but those are the only 2 vidya I really liked the zombies in.

Part of this idea came from me liking the "ongoing story" potential of zombie survival. Like, you can start out with this group and just keep going until all the original members are dead. I wouldn't use zombies but I like them as a good background / cannon fodder enemy. And fuck it, it's good for attracting "normies" which I want because I think they would be most into it. They're all into the Walking Dead.
Another part of this idea came from my friend and I's huge dissatisfaction with State of Decay. I liked the premise, hell I may just rip off the starting event. Oh you come back from your camping trip to find the world in shambles. It clashes with a few of my ideas for opening scenarios but I can find a way to work it in.
My biggest problem is what I call initial infection vector. Cause Max Brooks is obviously full of shit, and I think that even a Walking-Dead-style plague where "everyone is infected lmao" is too slow. Something needs to cause a good 50% of the population to die and become zombies within, say, 72 hours. That's the only reason that (1) it will actually shock the players and give them trouble, instead of giving them months to set up a cabin in the woods before the zombies even become a problem, and (2) actually fully overwhelm the United States government and infrastructure.

One of my favorite parts of the Contagion video game was that you could get hit by a zombie and start to become "infected" and your screen would grow gray and stuff owuld sound weird until you turned. This took place over the course of 3 or 4 minutes. Now, I'm not sure I want it *quite* that fast, but I want something pretty close. Basically, you get bit, you got time to say goodbye and eat a last meal, but it's going to be painful because you are feeling stranger and stranger. So getting bit means you're likely to either cap off a bunch of zombies then yourself, or lead them off with a grenade, or something else cool. I want this infection to move fast. World War Z may have been a shitty movie (I enjoyed it, personally) but I liked how tense and overwhleming the first few minutes were when zombies just took over everything in hours.

So, I can't decide if I should have waterways get infected? Or a vaccine that most people are getting? Or maybe just 50% of the population has to be immune? I am trying to think of something that would infect a good 25 to 50% of the population over a few days, but would have something in common that I could use to explain the characters being spared (hence why a camping trip start might not be a bad idea).

I'm a pretty experienced Pen&Paper player, but I havn't played in some time and wanna start a group with my friends who has never played any Pen&Paper games, and only semi-familiar with board games.

How screwed am I trying to run A Song of Fire and Ice game has their first?
They love the HBO-serie [spoilers]I only started watching it[spoilers] and I just feel that running a setting they enjoy might spike their interest in Pen&Paper even more.

I'd see how the do it. If they make lots of maesters amd nobles then it'll be mostly political stuff.
Lots of hedge knights and the like it can be more combat focused like the usual stuff.

SIFRP is a little weird. Player agency is less than it normally is, since the house itself is the important part. Characters can be compelled regardless of what the player wants.
Also, the system tends to assume that characters are less competent than they really are.
And anyone interested in fighting had better invest in endurance. It's the one thing between dying instantly and being horribly wounded, and the more you have, the more times you get to say no to death.

Hi /tg/. I have a question that is bothering me for a long time. Codex astartes states that each chapter is made of 1000 mahreens. We have seen before org. charts/artworks/whole chapter pics that shown exactly 1000 battle brothers. So my question is - what about vechicle drivers? Apothecarium, and other sepcialist branches of each chapter. For sake of argument, let us ignore chapters that ignore codex astartes like BL, SW etc. Also Dark Angels legion building and chapters below their strenght. Full chapter has access to vast number of vechicles that are crewed by power armor guys. As I remember from some sources, rhino has 2 drivers and land raiders So full strength chapter should have at least about ~200 marines more just in form of rhino drivers. I know that codex astartes mentions that 1000 brothers is related to battle brothers, which I understood as guys in tac/dev/assault squads, but could this be a astartes grade life hack to claim that extra brothers are <wink wink> drivers, when Inquisition asks? Is this anywhere explained? Thanks in advance!

Reserve companies usually work as drivers/pilots/space ship officers. But well, Librarium, apothecarium and forge masters are usually off-grid in the organization. And chaplains are supernumerary within the company as are the command squads. However it is rare for a chapter to be at perfectly strength, so it compensates somehow.

Chapters usually don't work as a monolithic organization. They'll make ad-hoc task forces from whatever they can afford right there. If they see they'll need to deploy a lot of fellas by rhino, they'll send some reservists to support.
Let's say they send half motorized company which has 5 rhinos and a razorback for the command squad (including also the company Chaplain). Six vehicles with 12 drivers(for example from the 6th company). Also they'll deploy from a Strike Cruiser that requires a captain and 4-5 officers (maybe from the devastator reserve company). Three thunderhawks to put everything on land means another 6 marines (let's say pilots are from the assault reserve company). Also a couple of predators (4 more marines) and a whirlwind for AA-support (2 more) Add 5 techpriests to keep everything running and a couple of apothecaries and you have a considerable strike force.

2nd company main force: 56 marines (including chaplain and two company dreads)
6th reserve support: 18 marines
7th reserve support: 5 marines
9th reserve support: 6 marines
Forge: 5 techpriests
Apothecarium: 2 marines.

Also consider that if necesary, every marine knows how to pilot and drive every vehicle. And that the support can also do more things like holding rearguard key positions.


However they do not have to send the rhinos everywhere. If they deploy from dropping pods the reserve support may be different.

For years in MtG the player who goes first does not draw a card on their first turn. Players are said to be "on the play" (going first) or "on the draw" (going second). Going first is still seen as a modest advantage and players winning a dice off will usually (But not always depending on deck and format) choose to go first. For "best of" series in tournament play, after the first game the loser gets choice of first or second.

There are games (Diplomacy off the top of my head, but there are others) that have simultaneous turns with hidden orders. Players write down orders ahead of time and then they are revealed and resolved simultaneously.

I used to from the release of the game up until lock was a thing. That's when I quit, not because lock was a thing but because I also played Yugioh and had other things going on and vanguard was the least important thing at the time. I got out right before Dauntless Drive Dragon came out. That seemed really cool. I played some games later with Link Joker Chaos Breaker. That deck was really neat.

It's pretty standard for the time but it was good and super fun. My friends played Dudley Emperor, Lawkeeper, Ezel, Duke, Tsuku, MLB, vermillion and Stern Blaukluger. Duke friend also had some granblue deck that used undead dragon skull dragon but he didn't play it too much. I eventually picked up an Ezel deck because I thought winning the die roll and being at G3 when your opponent is on G1 was fun. In my DOTE list I only had 4 gatling claw to hit opposing starters. I much preferred 12 crit but hitting their G0s was too important.

There was one game where I was at five damage, all unflipped and have just been attacking their RG for days with DOTE and he kept letting DOTE hit but I wasn't ever drawing into my second through fourth copies. I attack his vanguard and he doesn't block it, drive check crit and DOTE, stand, hit with bellicosity and unflip the damage, attack again with DOTE, drive check two more DOTES and stand again, he hits a 6th damage heal trigger and then I stand again and attack with DOTE a fourth time with crit 3.

Daiyusha, Dauntless, Dragonic Overlord and Chaos Breaker Dragon + Infinite Zero Dragon are cool.

When I came back for a little while I don't know what was meta but my friend was playing Narukami with the Breakride with chainsaws that makes me retire two dudes or something and I think Gauntlet Buster and the guy that stands if he doesn't hit or something. He also had a blau and Ashlei reverse deck that were fun to play. Bermuda Triangle heart prisms were just around the corner when I got out again.

The G4 Kagero before strides with 13000 seemed good but I never played enough games with my friend who had that deck to really get to know it, only like five or six games. I know it was good, what was the G3 configuration?

What is meta now? I know The End got a Legion, is that competitive?
