So what would you like to see in a horror skirmish tabletop game, rules -wise? What particular mechanics would you like to see used? Any ideas for things that haven't been used before or are not used enough? Would you like to see the typical horror movie tropes and cliches represented?

Wut?
Why would this even be a thing? A skirmish wargame is to put together two dissimilar but more or less balanced forces and have a tactical battle to see which prevails. Horror is all about the feelings of fear and dread and helplessness as you're put into a situation you can't possibly thrive in.
Why would there be such a thing?

I don't think you can emulate horror in a tabletop skirmish environment.

So what if it was just a horror tabletop game?

Your concept doesn't work. Sorry.

Where on the axis between Ravenloft and Dread do you want this hypothetical game?

Horror isn't just a setting. It has to be presented properly, you can't do that on a tabletop. There are Cthulhu tabletops out there and they're not at all spooky. Giving monsters stats and strategies removes anything scary.
You can try taking themes.
Like, Darkstalkers vs Killer Instinct type monster mash. That's certainly "horror", if only superficially.
