What magical items have you wanted to use in your campaign but couldn't give to your players yet? (e.g. due to power level, plot reasons, etc.)
First for I highly recommend reading the 4e dmg if you dm 5e, and actually 4e is pretty good.
>>50635279
Haven't we had enough /4eg/ in /5eg/ recently
>>50635243
Lots of magic items I don't give to my players because they refuse to actually read things.
So they'd never know how to use it properly.
So mostly anything with multiple paragraphs is a no go.

The Quantum Phase Catalysts set comes from the mission Sunrise, which is part of the Future Proof arc. I believe you have to be level 60 to do the mission. I'd get the Jem'hadar or Breen set for now, or if you're really ambitious, you could try to get the entire Solanae Hybrid Technologies set (a good all-round set - but the mission is super long; mission is A Step Between the Stars in the Dyson Sphere arc) until you can get either the Quantum Phase Applications set from Stormbound (also in the Future Proof arc) or a rep set.
Other than that? Tactical consoles in your tactical slots for the energy type of your choice (probably phasers though if you want to use the Quantum Phase Catalysts set). All your weapons should either be phasers, with or without a single torpedo.
Emergency Power to Weapons III is a must if you can slot it, as is Fire at Will II or III (depending on how powerful your tactical stations are). It's kind of stupid how powerful FAW is, but if they nerfed it, it would be the low-dps people who suffered, not the guys chasing the deeps.
To get similar performance out of torpedoes you have to know what you're doing, build for it, expend about twice as much effort, and be a damn good pilot to boot.
>>50557312
Ahh ok, that's probably why I don't remember that set, I've not touched the Future Proof Arc in a long time, I'll definitely grab it though. How is the Temporal Set? I've not yet gotten around to getting it on my main character yet.
>>50557351
I don't have the Temporal Rep set yet, but it looks quite nice for exotic damage/torpedo setups. I've been putting off all rep gear projects until my Temporal alt can unlock the gear upgrade (it doesn't help that I've been a bit lazy about doing the reps on him either - but he's almost there! Tier 3, and churning along).
Meanwhile in Bizzaro /tg/

I accept that my system choices are strongly rooted in personal playstyle and preference, and I recognize and respect the opinions and goals of others who favor systems which are incompatible with my subjective reasons for playing. >what is Kingdom Death
Monster Hunter the board game, set in the world of Berserk.
>which pledge do I get
If you don't have the game, get the Lantern pledge. If you do have it and just want to update it, get the upgrade pack. Everything else can be added on from those two pledges.
>is the stuff in the upgrade pack a stretch goal?
No.
>is the stuff in the gamblers chest a stretch goal/is it random
Not a stretch goal. Everything on the table, revealed or not, will be in the chest. The gamble is just that you don't know what's in it yet.
>what are the stretch goals?
There aren't any, really. We blew the lid off this campaign so hard, we unlocked everything and more in the first day. So instead of posting 40 days worth of content at once, he is staggering the reveals. Everything is already unlocked though.
>i won't get the game till 2020???????
No. read the shipping section on the kickstarter page. The game ships in 2017. 2020 is a worst case scenario for some of the very very early in production items, not the game itself.

hey guys
how does one get started on TTS?
:)
Has anyone ever put together a rough timeline on what monster/monsters and what levels you should be hunting any given year?
If you were playing as a blaster sorcerer in a generic D&D-like setting, and you wanted to fluff your spell focus as floating over your shoulder shooting beams, what's the coolest kind of object to use?
A crystal seems like the standard, with precedent as Ioun stones and psicrystals.
A wand or other spell focus intended to be held in the hand feels wrong somehow, like why even bother making it float if by the rules you need a hand to cast spells anyway.
A skull is always awesome but unfortunately marks you as an edgelord. If it's a human skull, people will think you're copying a 40K techpriest.
A metal ball or cube works too, either engraved with arcane sigils or polished to almost unreal regularity, but you shouldn't have more than one, unless you want jokes about having balls of steel or making Xd6 damage rolls in-character.

>A skull is always awesome but unfortunately marks you as an edgelord.
DISAGREE.

A ceremonial jewel encrusted golden human skull.

reddit the thread and the video
>le evil whitey attacking the poor innocent PoC
Imagine the cognitive dissonance of being emotionally invested enough to make a youtube channel dedicated to 40k, while being a numale egalitarian neo-liberal who is indoctrinated from an early age to oppose everything the Imperium is. I guess you could rationalize it by saying "LOL IT'S JUST IRONIC LOL 40K IS A PARODY" but if you're using the Emperor and a Space-Fascist ultra-Human nationalist genocidal regime as a virtual tool to express your impotent rage over losing the election, that explanation doesn't seem to work.

Alright that was kinda funny the entire video should have been just Salamanders
So how good / bad is 5th edition? I haven't paid any attention to anything /tg/ related for some time now.
I assume everyone hates it because it's new, but I'd love to hear some details.
>>50631459
It's actually pretty good.
But it's still D&D.
Here's what I think of it, I think that for what it does, it's great. And that thing is introduce people to RPGs. It might not be your favorite, and it's certainly not my favorite, and it might not be the best system out there, and I don't think it is either, but I do think it's great for introducing people to Pen and Paper RPGS.
It's somewhat simple, extremely simple compared to 3.5e, it's far more balanced than 3.5e, but still leans twoards casters, and D&D is a household name. People will be interested because they know what D&D is or at least have heard about it either through their TV shows or just having an interest in RPGs or being a hipster.
All in all, I rate it an 8/10.
It tries to be an introductory RPG but still has fucking vancian magic which makes it impossible for new players to get into.
>>50631459
>I assume everyone hates it because it's new
Well, no.
The secret to 5e's success is that it does pretty much nothing new. It's aggressively mediocre by design, so as to not offend the fans of any previous editions.
It is "everyone's second favorite system", because it manages to seem not quite as good as your favorite edition, but far better than the editions you don't like.
What is a good tabletop system for mecha stuff? Something standalone compacted into one book would be preferable.
>>50629871
I've heard Mekton Zeta, Jovian Chronicles and Battle Century G recommended.
>>50629871
Mekton Z, & Silhouette.
>>50629871
As always, it depends on what kind of mecha you want. Pacific Rim is very different from NGE which is very different from Gundam.
