Are there any laser pointers that are less dangerous to swing around? Maybe ones that have a lower power but are still visible, or ones that have a diffuse spectrum so you don't just get the entire laser's energy at one wavelength?

All my friends are stoners/sex addicts and don't have any interest in tabletop gaming.
I wish to play RPGs and I know my dad played a lot of RPGs a few years ago.

Here's a quick one I did of an older setting of mine.

The world is populated with the undead, rising from their graves after an indeterminable amount of time. They lose their memories with the resurrection, but retain echoes of skills they had. The physical condition of their bodies does nothing to impede or change this process, except for reviving them in stranger and more monstrous ways. This effect is especially prevalent in the western hemisphere, and on the western continent of the Waste.

The most recent official war was some fifty years back, the latest in a repeated attempt from the eastern capital of Sunholme to conquer the no mans land that is the Waste. It failed, but there are still a major group of deserters and fanatics carrying on their efforts.

>3. What is a common thing in our real life world which is a prized treasure here?
Living animals, especially scavengers. Most of these get fucked over when they eat a corpse and then have it reanimate in their stomach and pull them into the ensuing new undead.

>4. What is this world's particular way to solve disputes?
East of Sunholme, conflict is settled through barbed and brutal diplomacy, with high intrigue and courtly drama being prevalent. In the west, it's settled primarily with gunpowder and iron.

I've been watching tons of Miniwargaming, and decided I'm going to be investing into an Age of Sigmar and 40k army now that I'm in an urban area (KC) and will be able to find people to play with.

I'm leaning towards Vampire Counts or Beastmen as my AoS army, and Chaos or Chaos Space Marines (word bearers) for 40k.

Would anyone recommend others? Should I avoid one of my picks?

I'm not going to be competitive, hopefully just find a small group to play casually with.

Any recommendations would be appreciated for me or other new beginners. Thanks.

Happy sunday, /tg/!

My boardgaming group just tried out our first TTRPG with Dread and I'm eager to try out something slightly more meaty while still going light on crunch.

I'm wondering what are the pros and cons of the systems above for a group that has almost no experience with roleplaying and was hoping for some guidance by some seasoned fa/tg/uys.

Please keep in mind that I'm looking for something rules light and setting agnostic. I appreciate what GURPS does but am not looking for anything with even remotely that much book-keeping.

FATE is a bit crunchy and narrativist; as in, the players have many tools to control the narrative beyond the capabilities of their characters. It takes some time for the people playing to get used to how aspects work, invokes/compels/etc. but it's smooth sailing from there. You are probably best off looking into one of the systems that are based on FATE but advanced it a bit, like Atomic Robo. There's also FAE (FATE Accelerated), which is a bit simpler, which I quite like but needs a bit of tinkering with its approaches.

SW is mostly trying to be a medium crunch system that's fast and fun to play. It's a bit random (which is a source of fun for some, admittedly). Combat relies a lot on getting raises/not getting hit with raises, and your fate point equivalent (bennies) acts as your secondary HP, which means that the GM handing them out at the correct pace is kinda really important.

I have no experience with Cinematic Unisystem.

I have one more generic game to add to the pile; if your group likes tactical combat games, Strike! is a really simple universal system with a lot of focus on that. Out of combat it's sorta FATE-lite. I like it a lot and am probably going to run a game in it next week.

While it is a fun gimmick, in terms of rules and mechanics yout players would just be getting access to fewer and fewer abilities, and losing their best ones all the time.

The planet is full of memory loss drugs; in the air, in the water, in the soil. You gradually forget all your experiences. It is a planet of Lotus Eaters, stuck there because they forgot they could leave.

The BBEG is immune to the drugs. He was banished to the planet for some horrible crime, but became immune to its effect. BBEG wants to get off the planet, and propagate the drugs to make the galaxy forget his original crime.

The PCs are the only ones that can... wait, what were they doing here again? Oh, right, a sandbox campaign...

I'm gonna have to GM multiple groups, so I think I might need to some pre-made adventures just so I'm less likely to get burned out.

Do you all know any good adventures that aren't tied to a specific system or would be easy to convert to another system? In terms of systemless adventures, I've only really been able to find some horror stuff. And they seem nice, but I know everybody doesn't dig horror.

Though I guess if converting isn't as hard I think it might be, it'd be cool if you could tell me what your favorite adventure modules are. And maybe some that you think would be great for first time roleplayers?
