Excuse me, Commissar how can space marines possibly have enough ammunition to engage in the types of battles they are typically known for?

Whether fighting last stands, deep strikes or intense head long charges, those marines dont appear to be able to hold more than a few bolter magazines Certainly not enough to fight off thousands of orks or tyranids.

Come to think of it, their long range marines carry only a single belt of bolter ammo. This seems like a grave oversight to me sir.

I am formally making the motion to instate a new argumentative fallacy, as I am tired of this tired-argument making rounds on TRPG sites.

>The "Magic Exists" Fallacy

>Stating that one should ignore an inconsistency in a work merely because, usually unrelated to the subject at hand, the work involves something Magical

Examples include:
"What does it matter if that bolder didn't roll down the hill? This world has Fairies in it."

"So what if my character is a 9 year-old barbarian girl carrying a club 3 times her weight? This world has dragons in it."

"Does it matter if this guy couldn't try to pick the lock a second time? Wizards exist you know?"

Why it's a fallacy:

1. Magic does not act without an external influence within the rules of most fantasy, and when it does act without said influence, it will be stated before hand. Even magical creatures are often just the result of normal evolution that happens to use magic in the process, rather than "magic happens".

2. Even in fantasy worlds, most of the logic is based on real-world scenarios and logic that remains internally consistent with Earth logic. Even small things such as "Gravity exists", "Humans bleed", and "You can crush objects with other, heavier objects" work within Earth-realm logic.

3. The act of dismissing such a claim works only to lesson the end product. Someone who has put time and effort into explaining why these inconsistencies exist through the in-world logic winds up deepening the work, providing a better idea of how things function, allowing reader and player alike to figure out solutions for in-world issues. When the topic is dismissed, the work remains shallow and unsatisfying as a whole, especially to those who pay attention to detail.

Simply stating that there is the existence of magic contributes nothing to a topic, and instead only insists on detracting from it. Therefore, we should point out the fallacy, and ignore as hard as possible.

I always ask if the magic is actually being applied to the situation when people make that argument.

I know this is pretty niche here, but can we get a Dark Eye thread going?
Talk about your current campaign, the characters you play and stuff like this.

As a general rule, the Essentials class features that say "Choose X of the following powers" actually allow you to choose any power of the appropriate type (encounter attack, daily attack, utility) and numbered level from the parent class. The online Character Builder confirms this.

I would strongly recommend against playing a druid (sentinel), however. It is probably the worst leader class in the entire system, as its class features offer the party minimal benefits, it is saddled with an awful encounter attack power, and it suffers from an implement/weapon attack power crisis with no easy solution.

I would, on the other hand, suggest a hybrid druid (sentinel). It is one of the *best* hybrid classes in 4e, since it loses little from the base sentinel, and it allows you to be a solid leader/controller.

A Wisdom/Constitution-based wood elf cleric|druid (sentinel) is an excellent leader/controller throughout the heroic tier. Such a build has many upsides:

- Freedom to start with Wisdom 18+2.
- Battle Cleric's Lore.
- Perception for initiative.
- Two uses of Healing Word, which can be upgraded with anything that affects Healing Word, including Battle Cleric's Lore itself.
- Excellent druid control powers, such as Magic Stones (at-will 1), Summon Giant Toad (daily 1), Wind Wall (encounter 3), and Charm Beast (encounter 7).
- An animal companion.
- Only three trained skills, but those will probably be Insight, Nature, and Perception under maxed-out Wisdom with a +2 racial bonus to the latter two anyway.

It is no party-enabling Tactical Presence warlord, but it seems like a good way to be a leader/controller with great survivability and initiative from levels 1 to 10.

Thanks heaps, man.

>>50626734
Thanks for the FYI. I will try with the character builder. I've already progressed to level 5 in the sentinel druid, so cannot begin to hybridize.

How fun would this be as a TTRPG? How would you do it?

For those not in the know, Drifters is a series where various 'warriors' from throughout history have been transported to a fantasy world rather than dying. This leads to scenarios such as a WW2 Fighter ace taking out Dragons in a Zero, or Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid saving Scipio and Hannibal from a swarm of rapey kobolds.

I haven't seen or read drifters but I robbed the "historical people transported to fantasy world" idea for a campaign from it, it's going ok. I don't have a group of very strong roleplayers, which makes it weaker than it could be.

Well will you shitposters learn?

And they'll still get a release. They're just selling those for the Inquisition codex.
They wouldn't have done the resin sister otherwise.
Resin and metal are for the codex, the actual release is bound to hit the stores between February and June. They're just getting everyone hyped, and seeing as how the announcement video of Magnus with the SoB message is by far the most liked, viewed, commented and shared video of their fb page, it's working.

Development of bronze technology led to conflict with dragons, who until then regarded people as too stupid or weak to pose any sort of threat to their well-being. Even though bronze was basically shit against them, they saw it as the first step towards iron, which proved more effective.

So if you don't count the endless barrage of dragon fire, everything was pretty good.

Why was iron more effective? Are we talking about iron being more damaging to magic beings?

Legends of the Wulin. It has an (in my experience) unique blend of deep, satisfyingly crunchy mechanics with a focus more on genre emulation that attempting to simulate gritty details.

Every battle isn't just a clash of swords, but of ideals, philosophies and beliefs. And the amazing thing is that the system actually supports this.

One of my favourite moments ever happened in the system, in a PvP duel no less. My PC and another member of the party had never seen eye to eye and the tension grew up to the point they exchanged blows.

It was fantastic. The way the combat system worked it was an engaging and enjoyable fight for both of us, and our characters actions were both shows of mechanical strength and them trying to prove the righteousness of their own way. It was a hard fought thing, with both characters giving it their all, but by the end of it who won no longer mattered.

Seeing one anothers strength and sincerity, understanding them through the clash of blows, let them gain a newfound respect for each other, acknowledging the others path while walking their own. And the amazing thing was that the mechanics supported it, every step of the way- Even allowing them to gain a mutual buff as the long term consequence of the battle, empowering one another with the newfound camaraderie.

Of course, there are people for whom the idea of two people beating the crap out of each other resulting in friendship and power ups will enrage them, but I adored it, and I've still yet to see a system which manages to marry mechanics and themes in such an amazing way.

(Although sadly the system has problems, the biggest of which is one of the worst edited core books ever, making it far, far harder than it needs to be to learn and play. It's a damn shame.)

So my Romanians appear to be in a good spot in March. Consider that under the rules presented in the podcast, a fully maxed out Puscasi has to lose thirty stands before testing morale even once. QoQ seems to be baked into the core rules.

Knight: does most of the crawling and tries to kill the dragon
Goblins: have 3 units on a map and try to kill knight
Dragon: try to wake up and escape
cave: stall long enough to collapse
thief: steal shit from everyone

I suggest you give it a try
