Welcome to the Accidental Magical Girl thread!

Various worlds and multiverses have become connected together via the mysterious Overcity, a sprawling landscape inhabited by monsters and magical beings. Girls and boys endowed with their new supernatural powers can work together solving conflicts that arise!

>This is NOT a greentext adventure style CYOA with one GM and thread posting to dictate the adventure, but rather a hub thread for multiple storycrafters to use.

This thread houses three systems: First, QuasarBlack's CYOA PDFs which may be used as writing prompts. Second, AMGC which expands on the CYOA character creation and provides rules for combat. Finally, the SCS is an alternative to AMGC with a similar purpose. IRC uses mostly AMGC and Discord uses mostly SCS.

As with AMGC, in the interest of housekeeping and OP compression, the expansions will be omitted from the thread, however they can be found in one of the links above.

What are some ways that a city could survive if for whatever reason nobody could touch roads or sidewalks anymore? You just full on die if you touch it and this starts to happen one day with no warning or explanation.

My lord, rumor has it that a nearby Kingdom has developed a curious way to wage war. Rather than their King calling upon his lords and nobles to summon forth knights, esquires and to levy the peasants, they have purchased the aide of sell-swords and mercenaries into permanent captains. Then of the common man they conscript and pay as a soldier under the banner of the Kingdom, as an army which remains even in times of peace, to be trained by these captains.

Combat

A rust monster can scent a metal object from up to 90 feet away. When it detects one, it dashes toward the source and attempts to strike it with its antennae. The creature is relentless, chasing characters over long distances if they still possess intact metal objects but usually ceasing its attacks to devour a freshly rusted meal.

The creature targets the largest metal object available, striking first at armor, then at shields and smaller items. It prefers ferrous metals (steel or iron) over precious metals (such as gold or silver) but will devour the latter if given the opportunity.
Rust (Ex)

A rust monster that makes a successful touch attack with its antennae causes the target metal to corrode, falling to pieces and becoming useless immediately. The touch can destroy up to a 10-foot cube of metal instantly. Magic armor and weapons, and other magic items made of metal, must succeed on a DC 17 Reflex save or be dissolved. The save DC is Constitution-based and includes a +4 racial bonus.

A metal weapon that deals damage to a rust monster corrodes immediately. Wooden, stone, and other nonmetallic weapons are unaffected.

It deals a pathetic amount of damage and has rather low HP. A naked fighter could pummel it to death with their bare hands.

Of course, what makes them really nasty is if they're paired with some other creature.

Overall, they're just a nasty encounter and most players hate them, but they're not really all that life-threatening by themselves.

I come asking help and some suggestions.

I'm in mood of maybe running some galaxy crossing space faring sci-fi adventures.
I have some vague ideas, some visions of space empires, FTL travel and spaceships engaged in spacedogfigths.

But I lack the actual game, the system, the mechanics.
I have decent knowledge of lots of games, but space opera sci-fi is one place where I'm lacking.

So that's why I ask for suggestions.
These days I prefer lighter, faster and more narrative systems.
I don't mind more crunch and mechanical depth, but that usually means lots of details and options for fight scenes, while rest are forgotten.
And spending half of every session in a "mandatory" enemy encounter is just something I'm not looking for.


I know there are generic systems that can do what I want, among other things, but I always prefer to use a system that's designed for setting or theme first and use generic games as plan B, if I can't find suitable game otherwise.

You have a lot of options. I agree with reskinning an existing space opera setting if one can be found that fits your needs.

The obvious place to start is star wars. You can strip out jedi and the Force and have just about everything you need-- especially those space dogfights.

40k RPG, Traveller, and Serenity RPG are all other options-- though none of them have the dogfighting element down as well as star wars. 40k in particular is wrapped around the assumptions of that setting and hard to reskin to a lighter, happier setting. Firefly was based on a Traveller campaign that Joss played in during college, so both are appropriate.

If you're an experienced gamer, you don't need me to tell you about GURPS. Spaceships has a fantastic design mechanic that lets you do just about anything and yet still be manageable and fun-- it was written by the same guy who did the awful Vehicles supplement for 3e that people still bitch about, and man did he ever learn his lesson. You'd use GURPS Lite as the core, then borrow from the Basic Set, Ultra Tech, Bio Tech (for aliens), and Spaceships. Then add martial arts and psionic powers if those elements are in your setting. Much more work than reskinning star wars, but you get a lot more control and precision and reskinning can be a lot of work too depending on how different your setting is.

Battletech has lots of stuff that's a very close fit... but the mechanics suck and if that's what you're picking it for, then it's not worth it.

Neat, now you have a vorpal greatsword +5, the Lich spawns weak next to you every time he dies and if you keep the sword long enough there won't be enough soul-energy left to sustain him.

Kingdom Death is a company that makes a board game called Monster. That's hard to find in a google search though, so it's often just called Kingdom Death: Monster. It's a monster hunting board game which a campaign where you build up a small settlement of survivors.

Oh yeah, forgot about that. That was at the end of a pretty damn good war sequence, though. It's the same with the Heresy black books, they largely show the battles in detail, and when they refer to characters it's normally for a different perspective.
A few properly done maps, descriptions of skirmishes, in-character accounts and analysis of the forces involved would really help stuff like this. Have one of the Legio Vulcanum princeps, then a Guardsman on the ground dealing with daemons, stuff like that.

Yeah RIP

I play death guard and want to see how you guys do it.
Pic related is my paint scheme, not my model but it's the picture that inspired me.

My bases are all snow scenic with toxic pools, lots of greens and white.

My latest dilemma, and the reason for this post, is I just got 50 Zombies and want to paint them in theme.
I was think a bluish tint and a friend suggested frost bitten extremities.

Have any of you done anything like this?
How would you go about doing something like it?

can you guys help me out in solving this rubicks cube? i hope this is the right board.

the cube is solved except for A and B. i need to swap their position while rotating each 90°, please refer to the picture for an exact explanation.
