Was he really the villain after all?
>>51088377
No.
You're a fucking idiot if you think the Potion Seller was in the right to not give him the potion.
He was warned. He knew what he wanted. He heard the risks. He was a sane man. Now he's a dead man, because he had to settle for a cut rate potion, or even no potion at all.
The potion seller's arrogance killed the knight and left him without money in his pocket. He's not only wrong, but he is ALSO a fucking idiot.

>What is Modern/Contemporary Fantasy?
It is the idea of taking a fantasy setting, set somewhere around the late medieval era to the early renaissance, and fast forwarding it to the 19th - 21st century. Imagine making a Dukes of Hazard style jump to ram your car into the side of a Dragon, Or fighting magical Nazis with swords and SMGs.

Now that we've, more or less, come to an agreement on universal mechanics for the setting it's time to actually set up the setting itself. So what are the nations of this setting? Do the Elves and Dwarves have their own nations? What are the political factions present?

>>51085612
I think they do have their own nations. There should be many nations to be honest with some being straight up mixed (With the whole species/race thing). Think of them like the nations of western Europe. There has definitely been long standing conflict between the nations historically but in modern times it has been much more of an opposition between Western Europe and Eastern Europe.
I have no idea if I explained that very well but I wanted to get it down and share what I'm thinking before it's gone.

Well, I have been the OP here for quite a while, and my core system has barely 5 pages of text in Letter-size, so I think it will count. Although the current PDF is in A5.
Lax and compact systems have some innate edges over large and clunky systems:
>They can be proofread and redesigned multiple times in the same time it only takes to design and write a large system.
>You can make them compact in other ways too. My own character sheet changes size from about credit card -size to A6.
>As said, redesigning doesn't take long, so getting a new "king idea" doesn't require you to rewrite pages upon pages of text.
>Less moving parts makes it easier to create rules synergy.
>And, to be entirely honest, making a game with enough depth to satisfy a normal RPG player does not require as many pages as it takes in D&D. Only the crunch-loving players usually steer from simple games, and even they appreciate a beer & pretzels -type of games occasionally.
And about Misfortune in general, I doubt there will be any more real changes, unless I figure a more compact way to do All-Out Powers.
>>51083873
>Does your system handle morality and ethics? How?
I've just started designing my shitty d6-based system, so no, not yet.
Because the game is based around being the most competent defenders of light left in a nobledark world, it would probably involve some sort of corruption counter that would count against the most useful resource in the game- Soul Dice, representing the internal strength and divine favor that belongs to heroes selected by the sun.
So I have something like MtG, but I want the equivalent of instant/sorcery to have power like creatures where the spell becomes stronger if this gets boosted. The problem is I'm not sure if there are enough things for spells to do that could scale with that value without being too extreme.
Hey /tg/, how do you think the factions 40kfags collect/play reflect their personality? I personally find that IG players have a thing for turn of the era and modern military, but I don't have enough experience with other armies to determine an underlying theme with their players.
-IG are bros, love military stuff.
-Marines are either really immature youngsters or older guys who just appreciate stuff at face value
-chaos players are a lot of the time religious or oppressed in some way
-dark eldar are edgy or want to be edgy
-eldar are either fans of the lore or currently just waac players
-tau love mechs and anime whether they admit it or not
-orks are fun guys there army is shit and they know it but dont care
-nids are either girls or horror movie lovers
-sisters are either girls or creeps but that should change with the new release
>Eldar are supremely skilled intelligent people playing the hardest army yet with the most reward. Hence they win all the time. They are also perfect and elegant like the army they play.
>Ork players are high functioning retards because they lose all the time.
>Marine players are immature brats who can only kill some Eldar due to GW favouring them, yet thankfully always lose to perfect Eldar players. Needs nerfing so that no Eldar units die.
>tyranid players love their lord and saviour robin "bona fide" cruddace.

I'm just not convinced by a lot of of the "Range reborn" stuff. The resin figures often aren't as good as the plastic GW ones, especially when it comes to a lot of the larger centerpiece figures. I just don't see a huge reason to get that stuff over their GW equivalents, especially when Ebay and Chinacast are an option.
Other than Avatars of War really I don't see any that do it right. Historicals are very different when it comes to proportions and take converting to get a lot of the more elaborate bits on.
Can the Imperium at its peak, with the Emperor and the Primarchs, beat the Forerunner Ecumene from Halo in a full-scale war?
>>51082516
Well, if I remember my Lore correctly.....
The Precursor-Humans managed to hold their own in a two-front war against both the Forerunners and The Flood for several centuries, and were even able to force The Flood to strategically withdraw, until the Forerunners finally managed to BTFO Precursor-Humans and then got their face smashed in by The Flood.
So.... it's "possible" that peak Imperium would be able to hold their own against the Forerunners.
The "issue" however, is a matter of scale when it comes to space-based combat between fleets. Halo ships, on average, are significantly smaller than their equivalent-class counterparts in Warhammer 40k and tend to fight in 'knife-fight' range in comparison to the 'submarines in space' that Warhammer 40k typically is, though 'knife-fight' range does happen quite often as well.
This size discrepancy, funnily enough, actually helps the forerunner ships due to the fact the smaller, on average, size combined to their potentially faster real-space speed makes using the IoM's primary ship-board weaponry against them very difficult to do at any appreciable range.
>>51082908
Wait. Do we have any evidence of how powerful Forerunner ships are? I know they had the technical power to turn matter into data and back again, but no specific ship-feats to speak of.
And what's this "small ships" meme? A Halo isn't anything to fuck with.

We have a player that likes to hold the party gold when we get paid for doing particular quests, although we're able to do things individually occasionally, when payed as a group she holds onto it ands says if we need something to take it out of the party coffers, then complains when we use it for anything she doesn't want.

You're all probably too chickenshit to say anything because you think you'll get up in them guts if you go along with it.
Just to let you know, you won't.
>>51067352
The main problem is the DM, we already brought it up because she's being a cunt about it but the DM is too much of a faggot to deal with the issue. Don't know why he didn't pay us individually in the first place. It's one of the things destroying the campaign because we can't buy stuff for our characters when needed.
5 Reasons why I think Magic will die in 2017:
1. It doesn't translate well in the digital/e-sports world. Yes, they have MTGO, but let's face it, MTGO is not user-friendly, to say the least.
2. The MTG community mostly consists of stereotypical "nerds". Let's face it, people don't like hanging around us Magic players. The Pokémon and Yugioh communities are known to have more socially adept people, and that will draw new players into those games rather than MTG.
3. The community is becoming more divided. The growing influence of MTGFinance and the rise of Frontier shows just that.
4. Deriums left the MTG community. He himself stated that he wasn't making money off MTG, so he switched to Pokemon.
5. All signs point to 2017 being the final year of MTG. The reserve list bubble has reached heights so absurd that it's all but guaranteed to crash, attendance for both Standard and Modern tournaments are rapidly declining, FNM is dying, players are experiencing all-time high barriers to entry, stores are experiencing massive losses, morale is declining on all sides of the community, and most eerily of all, WoTC seems to be taking MTG down the same path that AEG took L5R down, which eventually lead to that game's death...
>>51064363
Yeah, MTG is on the way out.
>>51064363
>The sky is falling!
>>51064363
>pokemon
Is known as a kids game
>yugioh

Definitely gives them sustainability, but "socially adept" is just wrong.
