First for international Redmeme doesn't recognize my carrier. :(
Thoughts on the Redmi 3S?
I'd prefer a phone at around 5" but if it sucks I might aswell get a N3P. Or are there better alternatives under 200$?
I have a dumb phone for my calls/text and I have a tablet for my shitposting and media consumption.
fight me irl fags
Any casual here using Antivirus? I had a license bought of Avast! Internet Security for 3 pcs for years but it will end this december. I think it did a fine job blocking some malware and viruses from the internet in a few occasions ( excluding the false alerts Avast gave me against cracks ).
What is a better option? I was thinking on trying Kaspersky but I think it doesn't work well with 64-bit computers. I normally know how to avoid websites with viruses but the Adblock plugin doesn't always block ads in a few website and at least Avast give a warning sometimes.

>excluding the false alerts Avast gave me against cracks
Those were not false alerts.
>>57219109
Sure
The better option is to not use avast at all.
Seriously, just use ublock and leave windows defender on.
It's also a good idea to get mbam just in case you DO get something.
Also, make sure to only download torrents that are from trusted uploaders or use private trackers.
Of course, if you're setting this up on someone else's computer who isn't very tech literate, then just go with avast again.
Why is Linux constantly shilled here?
Who else /stayingon7/ here?
>stay on 7
good luck with that
Because they want desktop threads to become popular. And let's face it, windows 7 sucks for ricing the shit out of your desktop.

Are there languages that are as compile-time safe as Haskell but also opinionated and readable as Python and GoLang?
Yes. Nim.

What?
Haskell is imo one of the most readable languages...

Why don't you just use the one wich comes preinstalled?

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

X60s reporting in
I own a Thinkpad T520 laptop running windows 7.
There is some setting which keeps auto-adjusting my brightness levels to the colors on the screen. I thought this was a problem with Intel Control Center so I checked it, but strangely enough auto brightness wasnt an option in the program. So I uninstalled Intel Control Center, but the brightness keeps changing.
Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening? I imagine that it is probably the result of some bloatware program on this PC.
All me btw :^)
