>But Cerny seemed more excited about another one of these “post-Polaris” features that the PS4 Pro has: a significant improvement in the way it handles 16-bit variables like half-floats.
>With the PS4 Pro, said Cerny, “it's possible to perform two 16-bit operations at the same time, instead of one 32-bit operation. In other words, with full floats, PS4 Pro has 4.2 teraflops of computational power. With half floats, it now has double that -- which is to say, 8.4 teraflops of computational power. As I'm sure you understand, this has the potential to radically increase the performance of games.”
Explain this sorcery /g/.
what\s there to explain
they\re using half floats
>>57211014
...
there's nothing special here. if you legitimately think the ps4 pro is an 8.4 tflop machine comparable to a gtx 1080 you should really jump off a bridge to certain death.
>>57211023
I think the better thing to ask is what can a 16bit float do and what do you need 32bit or 64bit for?
I don't know what is actually required for a videogame, but its usually referred to as precision, and Im not sure how much precision is required for a game.

So /wt/ what do you think? The options are: mesh, blue/greenish leather, or bright brown/brown leather.
About to pull the trigger on babby's first meme watch, the Seiko 5.

I think that going with brown would make the dial stand out more and be a lot less busy in general.

How important is the pixel-inch ratio for a screen, really?
It's the single most important feature of a screen.
No point having a 50" screen at 480x360 for computing, nor is there any point using a 4k display from a phone at 6 feet.
The latest kek for me has been the 35" curved screen from whoever that's only 2560x1080. Absolutely disgusting.

What's the cheapest computer you own?
I found this Dell Inspiron 3520 while dumpster diving during dorm move-out week at my college.
I spent $8 on a disc for factory reset/upgrade to Windows 8.1
And I spent about $22 on the stickers in pic related (added for flair)
It gets my schoolwork done and is pretty good for a $30 laptop

How much data do you use every month, /g/?
For me it's around 2TB every month. Sometimes even more. Ignore August, because I had to reinstall Gargoyle then.
Why would I keep track of it? It's not like I have any data caps or pay depending on usage.
