k-9 looks dated but works really good

I had some problems with google imap back then

when you add a google account, the thing 'just works'. But suddenly push stopped working correctly

I wiped that inbox config, and once I readded the account, push and imap worked again

I use k-9 for two reasons:
1 it is on fdroid
2 it supports conversations

CloudMagic uses Amazon AWS machines that hook up to IMAP servers and check constantly. Once a mail arrive, they send out a true push message with GCM, etc. (It's a great app, but they made it very costly just recently. It's now 60 dollaridoos for a year, LOL!)

It's where your mail client lists messages in, wait for it, a conversation. Receiving a mail from somebody and replying to it constitutes a conversation, any mails exchanged in response by those two recipients are then grouped into a single thread for convenience.
