Hello! Trying to repair a shit tier KitchenAid for my mom. Anyone know if the switches contain any voltage or amperage regulators? I want to just solder the wires to bypass the switches. Addition picture included.
15 amps, 1/2hp 125/250 VAC Switch. Made by cherry.
>>1151218
No regulators, it's just a switch. Feel free to solder it
>>1151220
BTW it's funny how they mark it 1/2hp (375W) and at the same time write 15A, which makes the switch limit about 3,7 kW
Hello fellow /DIY/ers. I was thinking of making soap and selling it as a form of passive income, something like Etsy, or the occasional craft show. Does anyone have any experience in this or any tips and tricks, thanks in advance.

Google has a plethora of technical guides. That should get you started.
From what I've read over the years on /diy/, it's fun and all, but you're neither gonna save any money compared to buying soap, nor is it a very profitable (or profitable at all) venture, considering the profit margins, time required, and effort of establishing yourself on the (very limited and saturated) market.
That's how I remember it at least, you might want to wait for someone actually in the business.

Thanks anon, appreciate the input. Not to bother you, but you said you've been on DIY for a while now, have you seen any DIY activities that have come out as profitable?

Can someone tell me why this happened?
Made soil block trays for plant starts.
Glued everything and only screwed the back part.
This is sitting in a germination chamber, not sure if it needed to cure more prior to exposing it to moisture and heat.

go to google and type in, how to make a box with wood, go
>what is waterproof glue
Is there ANYTHING that keeps Canadian geese away besides a gun?
Also are they federally protected? I can't find a definitive answer....Some say yes...Others say no.
I constantly have them on my property during the warmer months. I work nights so the constant squawking outside my window was driving me insane this morning trying to sleep. I briefly thought about just going outside and just shooting it but my neighbor's kids were outside so I decided against it. Instead I threw a piece of 2x4 at it and it walked across the street then came back.
How the fuck do I keep these things off my property? It's already driving me insane and It's only March, Once June rolls around there will be dozens shitting all over my driveway and cars and impeding traffic everywhere I fucking go

Gardening question
Recently had part of my garden re-turfed. The new turf was laid directly on top of the soil at is a couple of cms higher than the rest of the lawn. There is a gap that runs alongside where the new turf was laid which I have seeded today as well as other patches around the garden.
When the new turf beds in properly and seed starts to take, will everything eventually level up naturally? How long does it take for new turf to fully bed in and thicken up? Also, when is it ok to mow again?
I'm not really pleased with the job the gardeners have done, especially with the turfing but they assured me that over the summer, the grass will repopulate everywhere. They had to dig out trees/bushes with a JCB and it was pissing with rain the whole time so the garden was like a mud bath when they had finished.
>>1151067
post a fucking picture mike
They should have leveled it down a bit, you will have that heigh difference no matter what. Keep the new turf moist until the roots set and dont mow it for about a month.
>>1151067
Yeah it should settle fine
How do I make a mattress for my dog?
I've been shopping for a new crate bedding for my dog, and the products on market are either puffy cushions that collapse immediately upon pressure (and thus providing no real support) or orthopedic foam mattresses that cost $100+.
The cost of these better mattresses seem unreasonable since similar mattresses for baby cribs are much cheaper despite being more than 2 times the size of a dog mattress.
I was wondering whether I could make own dog mattress or cut a baby crib foam mattress into a size that will fit into my dog's crate.
Would either of the options be feasible? Has anyone experience in this regard?
>>1150962
Dog mattresses are often more durable and designed to support more weight that a baby matress. I had the same issue. While my dog isn't huge or anything, only about 80 pounds, I still had to go out and spend the money on a decent mattress. All the ones she would use would start to collapse after a few months. Getting one with a durable, washable cover was also important. All told it did cost about $100.
Old couch cushions
>>1150962
Yup. I took 2 old couch coushins of a apare couch and threw a rug over them. Getting a blanket soon
Currently I am building an old fashioned pathway. I certainly have no idea and didn't look up for any know-how. I think it's came out quite good. I'll see how the path does in the long run.
Post your recent projects /diy/
>>1150746
Are those hives and are they pointed directly at the path? Seems a bit hazardous
>>1150747
Yes those are hives and no, rear ends facing at the path.
>>1150749
lol Good. I have a few langstroth-style hives. I also have a path similar to the one you are making with the uneven stones. Turns out it was better than flat stones, in the winter, because you don't slide as much when everything is icy.
I know how much work is involved. Good job so far.
Can I build a Langstroth or Kenyan Top Bar hive out of 3/4" plywood. I want to save a couple hundred by building my own. Should I just buy a hive instead?
it's just a box with the holes in the scientifically accurate places and a couple special made slides, what could go wrong? Find a cheaper prebuilt or risk killing hives
>>1150681
if you are set on making your own hive try the warre hive, plenty of plans available online, easy & cheap, better for the bees than langstroth (especially if you are new).

i've seen some healthy topbar hives slapped together out of pretty shitty looking scrap wood, i really don't think the bees give two shits.
trisodium phosphate...what do you guys think about it? I was planning to start using it in my laundry and possibly for washing dishes. Any recipes for either of these welcome.
>>1150353
It's bad for the environment so you shouldn't use it more than necessary.
It will eat dried paint off a brush so it's pretty strong shit.
As long a something else with lower or no phosphates will do the job, use them first.
>>1150361
i heard algae cant really use this form of phosphate
>>1150353
You want sodium tripolyphosphate for this, it's much less likely to etch.
Went and bought me a Big Red Wrench today. American made Victor valves and hose with a Smith torch handle and head. The acetylene cylinder is more than half full, too. I've need looking for a torch forever, and finally found one at a great deal.
>>1150319
nice, get used to filling that oxygen tank every couple of days if you use your welder heavily. make sure to pick up some flashback arrestors. Acetylene torches need to be premixed right? i forget if they can be surface mix as well.
>>1150319
Nice gas axe. Be sure to crack the valves open for a second before you put the regulators on do a leak test before you fire up. Are you going to do any welding with it or just cutting?
Mostly just cutting. I have a DC stick welder and a DC MIG already.

i've wanted to get some more band shirts for a while now and i looked around but everything online is like 20-30$ +shipping and i live in the middle of bumble fuck nowhere so finding the shirts near me has been a pain in the ass
so i decided i was going to make the shirts myself. and immediately realized i have no fucking clue what im doing
i want to put pic related on the shirt as the first one
so i went out to walmart and bought some plain white t shirts, a can of spray paint, an exacto knife, some painters tape, and a large piece of construction paper.
and i have a large piece of cardboard to put in side of the shirt so the paint won't bleed through
is this all i need to make the shirt?
are there better things to use?
>>1150314
can you elaborate?

YO SHIT I MADE THIS SHIRT AND I WORE IT TODAY GG BOIZ, WILL POST PICTURES WHEN I GET HOME
Hey dudes, I'm making a deadlift platform and I was wondering which of these two "designs" would work best. The main goal is to dampen sound but my gym is in the basement with concrete floor so I'd also like to minimise vibrations.
Please note that the sketches are in no way to scale and yes, there will be a thing in the middle to stand on.
>>1150205
Sorry for being an idiot, I forgot to mention:
The gray is rubber matting and the brown is construction grade plywood.
Damn fuck? Why not just lay down a single 4x8' sheet of plywood over a rubber mat or vice versa
>>1150220
Because I don't have that size of rubber mat and I don't wanna stand on rubber whilst deadlifting
would anyone be able to tell me the what the style of this storm door is. looking to get a new one of the same type and I'm not quite sure what to search for. thanks.

Louvered glass
>>1150171
In the US they're often called 'jalousie' doors. If people don't know what you're talking about, just say "doors with glass louvers".
They are popular in Florida and other warm regions, but jalousie storm doors may be getting harder to find.
spent $10k on baskets to hold parts. The problem is the baskets all have burrs and the burrs scrap the parts. The scrapped parts are scrap
