Does anyone have pics/screencaps of this guy's work? Searched archive to no avail. Thanks.

What problems will I run into if I put a 64-bit processor into a[n], originally, 32-bit computer?
>I have 2 laptops, same model, but one is a 32-bit processor and the other is a 64-bit, while the monitor & keyboard are broken on the 64-bit laptop and the 32-bit processor is shot; can I just remove the 32-bit processor & put the 64-bit processor into the that computer? The monitor is only 32-bit; will it be ruined? Will everything else be fine or won't it be compatible?
>>1149196
First problem is you will find laptop cpus are not removable or replaceable.

Here's my play-by-play DIY/nosaurs, i have an old gateway shitbox that i tore apart for ram and hard drive. So after a while i got bored and decided i wanted the screen too, which leads me here
popped her open...
Cleaned all this bullshit out (except the casing and padding) also brought it to work to grind off the metal clips.

Danyll, clean up your room and get that damn laundry done!!!
I'm not telling you again...
Hey /diy/. I have something I really want to build but due to my personal lack of knowledge I don't know if it's feasible. So I bought a ripstik G and I love riding it around my college campus. The only problem is generating enough speed to actually have fun because I have to gyrate almost the whole time I'm on it. I've looked into the electric model but it has a set rear wheel.
So, using steel gears (that I would mount on the wheels) and a high torque motor, would it be possible to make my ripstik electric w/o sacrificing rear wheel freedom? Also can you suggest a motor and gears? Speed control would be done with a remote.
TL;DR
>is there a motor small enough to mount on the side of a caster wheel and powerful enough to power a ripstik with a 160 lbs on it. Or multiple motors.
Inb4 >buy a longboard
(I might if this doesn't work out.)
>>1148588
I little glue gun should do the trick. Not too much.
>>1148596
Lel thanks anon. Basically while I was making this thread I got the idea of how I'm going to do it anyways. I'm going to 3-D print parts and then either cast them in aluminum or send them off to a shop that makes custom gears. I will have the gears made and steel and the mount for the motor made out of aluminum.
I only need help picking out a workable motor.

Check commercial gear suppliers like Boston Gear. Most machinist buy standard gears then machine them to fit their shafts etc. Gear hobbing is typically expensive because of setup so standard is good.

Does anyone here have any experience making kombucha? I just made my first batch but I'm pretty sure I used too much tea, what kind of effect will this have on the overall product?
I dont think it will really matter , how much did you make ? How much tea? how much sugar? If you are looking for a sweeter kombucha then less then 12 or so days and you will probably taste the tea being a little stronger..once it turns more vingery and you put some sort of flavoring the tea is more of an accent..from my experience anyway
I used 12 bags of tea for 6L of solution so it's a decent amount more than what I should have used, but basically if I just wait for a longer fermentation it shouldn't really matter?
Lol
Darwin award shit in the making
What do you call the part or mechanism that would help me do pic related?
Basically, you push on the button at the bottom and it first causes the blade in the back to go out in the same direction and then starts twisting it on a plane perpendicular to the direction of the push?
It's something like a gear, but I think the button needs to connect to a cylinder with grooves on it that vary in slope in order to cause the motion outward and then around.
>>1148206
Like this, But with a blade instead of a top?
>>1148225
Pretty much.
>>1148206
some hand drills are like that, just push to turn instead of crank
Family left a heavy punching bag hanging here for a couple of years without much use. I used it recently and the nut came loose, when I went to put it back up I noticed that the joist was cracked for a good 5 or more feet as seen in the pic.
Is it safe to put this shit back up? The last thing I want is for the joist to crack sideways from repeated punching.
Is there like a metal plate or something regularly available that I can buy and screw to the joist to reinforce it?
>>1148205
Lol!
>>1148205
>Is it safe to put this shit back up?
As long as the crack doesn't reach the edge of the joist in either direction it's ok.
>>1148205
>Is there like a metal plate or something regularly available
tie plates like pic related are at most hardware stores.
you'd need to compress the crack as much as possible (jack) before attaching the plate
>>1148205
what is above the joists? floor? or just a roof?
look at how fucking thin that joist is there is no meat to it at all. those bolts have fucking annihilated that joist its fucking cooked.
if that was me i would replace the joist or if thats not possible prop it underneath so its where it should be then screw a new section either side to reinforce significantly longer than the crack.
hang the bag on a different joist using a wrap around hanger or hook that doesn't bolt into the joist, rather maybe a small screw to stop it sliding around but not to hold it up.
got any schematic for this ? (but from wood)
>>1146965
i'll wait for another contender.
this great designed, but crappy plastic bench is ~100USD on amazon. Expensive, and they probably doesn't even deliver to my contry...
>>1146963
Wood would not be ideal since it takes away some of the perks of having a plastic frame like that. For example, you would have a much heavier bench if it would be made from wood.
Then you have to worry about the stress joints from the ...stairs? that can be used as an attachment. Finding wood that would be able to withstand the stress and be strong enough to support someone's weight on top of not tipping the whole damn thing over.. Good luck with that.
Why on earth would you need this anyway? Benches are for sitting, not for footladdering.
What's more /diy/core?

Going into the worm business?
Have a large pond at work. Clearest and cleanest water in the county. Sadly it has to be pumped out about 1 time every 2 years. I'm assuming nobody cares wtf i do with it since it's just water for stupid fucking cows. With landowner permission I have considered making a small bait pond.
In my studies of raising worms I have learned a lot. Rather than buy food for these fish i will raise worms. I can maintain them at work most always so my time is not wasted here.
Watching "Dirty Jobs" i see an episode on meal worms. Seems pretty easy.
Then i started to think. Startup cost is near nothing. I have access to large oil tanks for scrap metal price at like $50 per ton. I have a way to haul and clean and weigh them.
I can sell the worm (casings) or shit and dirt rather for good money to several nearby cities and florals.
I'm confident that i can build a sorting system to separate the worms from dirt.
With the cut in half tanks i can raise several different kinds of worms.
If the budget allows and i find a way to effectively ship them i can set up some insulated shop buildings and plumb directly into a natural gas well for heat and power.
Aside from the obvious logistics of shipping worms does it seem like a smart move?
I was a truck driver in a former life and if need be i can take off and rent a truck and deliver my fucking self.
They require pretty much no maintenance short of throwing food on them and separating.
After climate controlled building and customer base is established i would trust a manager to run it and continue on to my next venture.
Any problems with this?
Have 3 old refrigerators and good weather coming up. Going to give it a go regardless.
>>1145611
Sure dude why not. Weird as fuck but go for it I guess.
Having some trouble finding wheat bran. It is the bedding and food for the little guys and hopefully adds some to my bottom line. In my research it's about $2 a pound shipped to my door.
it's not terrible but if I am going to be mass producing these little guys $2 per pound sounds a little high.
Although I will be selling the bran and worm castings every few weeks so i guess if i can get my money back it doesn't really matter?
For small scale experimentation i guess the price is negligible. So I will check with my local feed mill today and if they do not sell wheat bran i will just buy it online and work on finding a supplier.
I'm reading that rolled grains and human food safe pesticide free is more expensive but that seems to be what the pros do. I will likely try wtf ever i can find on the shelf at walmart as well as local sourced grains and do some testing.
The more i look into this the more it seems that i will inevitably have a small cuckshed for testing purposes no matter the size of my operation. This is fine. I can check in with results or just go fuck myself if there is no interest.
>>1145615
LOL. yes, it is.
It's strange. But I have been living in this shitty house for 5 years and a few times a year strangers beat on my door and ask if they can did worms in my back yard. I live in bumbfuck nowhere and gentle 75 year old men aren't in to trolling so I just said sure wtf ever. A buddy of mine used to live here and after about the 5th time I finally went and asked him if the same thing ever happened to him.
He nearly died. Him and his brother went fishing one day and only used about half of the nightcrawlers. Figured they would be good for the garden so they threw a half dozen or so in the garden. Not sure exactly why but the population exploded to an uncontrollable point.
He suggested I charge or start gathering and selling them.
I figured I would let the old guys have at it but move my operation to a few old refrigerators as I have seen folks do.
Between google and boredom I am become the man who would be wormKing...
If anyone knows this phillip guy...let me know, i wanna punch him in the face.
