Can we make a diy portable computer ? And how

Define diy, portable and computer.

I think that a raspberry pi is the best way to make a really compact computer. With almost no experience you could make a working computer and even install windows in it

this ever happening is as probable as taking a bunch of transistors, a spool of wire, some solder and an iron, throwing it all in a big box and shaking the shit out of it in hopes of creating an i7

They used to be clear, but under /diy/ instructions I used acetone to make them all blue.

They are blue now, but I still got a lot of tubes lying around.

So my computer chair arm busted the other day, and I was thinking of a way to repair it. Do you guys think taking the arm off and using the baking soda and super glue trick would work? Other thoughts are using bondo on it or something after filling it with some sort of foam to seal the break. I'm not sure what to do.

pic related its pretty much the chair. it broke at the very bottom left part of the arm where it connects the back.

anyone?

A metal piece and some screws maybe.

A closeup pic of the break would be helpful
>>
>>1145379
yeah, this

a plate and some bolts (at least 2 on each broken side)

that plastic will never have anything close to its original strength using glue

Me and my family moved into a home that was built roughly around 1860s, and it was converted into a duplex at some point. when we first moved in, we weren't having trouble with water pressure, but now we are. I should also note that the pressure drops when someone downstairs uses water. this affects all sinks and the shower. is there a way that I can fix this without calling a professional?

what's the most cost effective method for patching a pothole in asphalt? I'd like to begin filling some in my neighborhood. I'm watching this video, and the process seems pretty straight forward:

https://youtu.be/z7s0qSyIyIw

Are there any products you'd recommend or advice you'd give? My biggest concern is the wet saw, I'm not really familiar with that. Also, will I get arrested?
26 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
If it's on a government-owned road, yes, you can get into legal trouble for performing your own maintenance on it. I doubt you'd get arrested, but you would get a ridiculous fine.
>>
Graffiti on/around them at night. Call and complain to the city the next day. They'll get fixed quickly.
>>
>>1144945
Ha! I work at a university and I never see the grounds guy go to half that trouble to repair potholes on the campus roads. They just dump on fresh asphalt and call it good. Of course, the following year they come out and do the same fix on the same holes that have opened up again. Good solid government union work.

As I'm watching snow fall like dandruff off a fat guy's head, I'm thinking how wonderful a hot, steamy sauna would feel. This triggers the DIY part of my brain.

Pretty sure a sauna is just water and hot coals in an insulated shed.

I've been trying to figure out how to build one on my land. My father built one on the corner of an old concrete foundation for a barn, and just walled the other two sides off. I'm thinking a raised deck on some footers, but I don't know know what id make the deck out of to keep it insulated/water proof

Hey all, I've been put through some bullshit where I was accused of 'trespassing' in an area. Long story short, the cop made the arrest despite the fact there was insufficient case and now they're trying to put me through trial. However, my lawyer says they're bluffing and the case will probably get thrown out or suspended. The thing is, if this case is thrown out, it doesn't make any sense to sue because I wasn't held long enough in prison (I was released on my own recognizance almost immediately), but can I take the people who filed a police report to small claims court and ask them to pay my lawyer fees?

>The thing is, if this case is thrown out,
aaannd, thats a big 'if', right there. IANAL, but, if you can reasonably demonstrate the original complaint was made unjustifiably and with malevolent intent, prob, can sue, yes - but I doubt that is as easy to prove as it sounds.

Forget suing the cops (unless your dead, you wont win, No, Sir) and you prob better hoping it don't go to trial and forgetting the whole thing. Prob a better board for this as well, I thought >>>/adv/ was for this shit, but, having looked, it reads like an r9k outbreak over there, maybe not.

Currently I have just a basic door on my apt. I am kinda paranoid because I live alone and am not home for more than 8 hours because of work. I dont have any valuables except my laptop and bike but I'd like to be less stressed about leaving them at home. I recently moved in the building but there has been some kind of break in downstairs. Anyway, should I invest in a new door or that would only bring more suspicion to my apt ? What is your suggestion ?

>>
>>1143894

If you rent, don't do anything until you've talked to the landlord...any work, or monies invested will become his...

Is the door solid core, or a hollow core?
Does it have a deadbolt?
>>
>>1143894
Bring your laptop and bike to work, problem solved
>>
>>1143905
The apt is mine. Not renting. The door is solid core and doesnt have a deadbolt. Everyone on the floor has the same door but some people have put an adittional deadbolt. Basically the door can be kicked in by use of some force by my estimate.
>>1143906
I am doing that with my laptop but I need to secure the bike at work as well. That might be less of a hassle.

What's up /diy/. my water heater is about at the end of its life. I was thinking about going the tankless water heater route. what do you guys think?

what are you guys running?
how much does it cost?
was install easy?
did you pay someone to do it or did you "do it yourself"?

Hey guys, tl;dr story:
>want dog
>work in home with big yard which remains open to the street on working hours.

So I want a dog, but i dont want it to disturb patients or escape while Im working in other room.
How do I go on building a fence for it? I was planning on buying something like pic related, but maybe you guys have an I dea for a better more cost efficent way to do it?
Tbqh I dont have any expierence building fences and I feel that even smaller or medium dogs could jump the one in pic related.

>>1143595
Think about a tethered run instead of a fence. Much cheaper.
>>
>>1143597
Im not huge on the idea of chaining a dog, even if its only for a few hours
>>
>>1143603
Fences can be escaped from pretty easily. If you chain instead, just hook the chain to a harness instead of a collar so the dog can't choke itself.

Hey there /diy/
I'm trying to patch power into a USB-C cable being used for DisplayPort alternate mode. I was planning on getting two of these

https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10013707/2412400-u3-206-smt-type-usb-3-1-type-c-female-socket

running one of these cables to it

https://www.amazon.com/Plugable-DisplayPort-Chromebook-Thunderbolt-3840x2160/dp/B01EXKDRAC

and then soldering a typical USB's power rails to the second female jack for power.
Is there anything wrong with this plan? Any easier way to do this?
I'm trying to run a USB-C monitor without the proper cables (due to the fact that I fucked up when purchasing it but w/e).

Can you explain more clearly what you want to do, or draw a picture? Wouldn't you need a male and female usb-c plug to make a pass through? What are you actually using the second female connector for?
